Alrighty, for all you good little boys and girls I have brought gifts! Embedded within the wondrous and wacky environments within Borderlands 2, there are a multitude of fancy little tidbits that you can find hidden within the most inconspicuous of places. Gearbox developers have done well in including almost every single major pop culture reference they could pack into such a great game. With character customizations detailed after comic book villains and claptrap’s homage to the double rainbow guy, there is no end to the fun in sight (unless you have the bane, in which case I feel for you). Either way, check out the awesome link below to find a variety of Easter eggs and where to find some of them.
Urban Dictionary defines a hardcore gamer as “someone who plays video games as a primary hobby. They tend to spend large amounts of time playing games, often in excess of two or three hours a day.” As many hardcore gamers as there are out there I’m willing to bet there are even more softcore gamers. Young kids who love Mario Cart, weekend warriors with an Xbox 360 in the man cave, or university students like me who are just trying to improve their Starcraft II ranking. The first thing I was told when I got to college was that between a social life, good grades, and sleep, you can only pick two. What if I want it all and to play games?
Here’s a cool gallery that IGN compiled. They essentially put Mario mustache’s on famous women in pop culture. Of course they’re all photoshopped, but it’s still hilarious and adorable. Everyone from Nicki Manaj to Kim Kardashion to Rachel Bilson. Even Lady Gaga has an appearance and it’s totally Gaga.
This is a really cool video regarding Minecraft! The Creeper is one of the most feared creatures in the Minecraft world, and they’re kinda mysterious when it comes to where they come from. On a developer’s note, apparently it was a pig design gone wrong, but in terms of game history, it’s hard to say. To be honest, Minecraft doesn’t really reveal too much about story in the first place. So I suppose we’ll just believe fan-made videos like these until the developers come up with something better.
LOL, Bruce Wayne might have pulled a dick move here, but he’s pretty right when it comes to telling Lucius Fox off like this. Essentially what’s happening is that Bruce Wayne is talking about how Lucius destroyed a honing device using cell phones that could’ve been used to find any person based on their voice. Seeing as how Bane is heard over intercoms and with plenty of sound bites from his football field gig, they possibly could’ve found Bane when they had so much trouble. Of course, Bruce is gonna be an ass about it. And it’s hilarious.
My graphic novel obsession has begun. I recently dropped $70 on new books [a considerable amount for a college student], on a bundle of new graphic novels/comic books. Barnes and Noble’s online store had a buy 2 DC comics, get a third one free was too much of a deal and I had to buy 6. When they came in, despite being in the middle of Mockingjay (a review later this week), I made some of them a priority in reading. In this article, I include my initial impressions of graphic novels and a relatively spoiler free impression of the ones I did read.
This is a cool article that lists 20 interesting facts, theories, and pieces of trivia that revolve around Breaking Bad. Here you’ll find things like foreshadowing, themes, and consistent theories that you might not have noticed. There are major spoilers involved, so enter at your own risk! Only slightly less than a year until Breaking Bad comes back!
More than once [like a bajillion times], I’ve been caught in a web of videos that all include cats doing silly things. Here we have a cat doing both a silly and awesome thing. A user essentially made a cat’s singular meow to the tune of HBO’s Game of Thrones opening theme. How is this even possible? How does one conceive this idea and proceed to get millions upon millions of views.
And of course, there’s also a dog doing the same damn thing, which I included below. This is why the internet was invented.
I absolutely loved Portal, so much that I’ve included one of the sounds as my text tone. So when I see something a awesome as this, where they take the original soundtrack and an artist creates a fully animated and original take on an iconic scene, I get super freaking giddy. I loved the reaction Chell has, seeing as we technically can’t see it. Her face is full of absolute disgust, and then GLaDOS is masterfully rendered as a half human/half robotic being that captures her chilling tone. And Wheatley looks like Steven Merchant. Which fits perfectly. Gosh I wanna play this game again, I’ll probably play it again in a couple of weeks seeing as I’ve probably forgotten how to solve some of the puzzles.
Since my midnight pick up of Borderlands 2, it’s an understatement saying that it’s been a tremendous trending event in my life. I’ve had about a week with the game and I’ve thrown over 40 hours into it so far. With other places like IGN, Gamespot, and other professional sites giving reviews of having played even more hours than I have, I decided to share some of my experiences and impressions instead.
Any Problem with the First Game? Consider it Fixed
If your beef with the first game was the dry settings, similar AI, and bland/uncompelling story, then start praising Gearbox for taking the time to listen to their audience and fix all these problems. It’s not uncommon knowledge that the settings are way ore beautiful, the enemies are way more diversified, and the story is much more sensical and even worthwhile. Even some smaller issues with the game like lack of personalization of your characters are attempted to be fixed. Beforehand, ‘treasure hunting’ was the primary motivation for the vault hunters, but the game makes somewhat an effort to try and draw why these new characters are on Pandora in the first place. And if you were confused as to why the originals are in Pandora, seeing them again certainly fills in some plot holes.
Steam has been banning fake games from its service, but it’s also knocked back a legitimate — if rather risque — project. Seduce Me is an erotic strategy game “inspired by the lives of American socialites and celebrities.” Ironically, the developer blames that very same American culture for the ban…
Valve has every right to ban what it wants, and does warn that it reserves the right to block “offensive” material. Even so, this situation highlights the fucked up double standards we have, where scenes of violence and murder are deemed more acceptable — more normal — than images of two consenting adults doing what almost all consenting adults will do at some point in their lives.
Article from Destructoid brings up some really interesting points,
By no means are we a political site, nor is this image supposed to send a particular message. As a favor to a friend, I drew Presidential candidate Mitt Romney as a Borg from Star Trek. In all honesty, I have never seen the original Star Trek series nor the next series with Patrick Stewart, so I had to Google what it was. The Resistance is Futile slogan is well known enough in pop culture and I had a blast drawing that awesome optical thingy I put on his head. What exactly can Borgs do? Does our boy Mitt have what it takes to be a Borg?
And who in the hell should I vote for come November? Let me know in the comments and in the poll!
Banana Scoop has had its break and it’s been absolutely wonderful. Our writers were given a break and prepared some really great articles with our newfound reinvigoration. There’s a lot of neat stuff we’ve planned and want to feature in the coming weeks, like a greater About Us section, a DMCA statement, and then some other things we’ve put on the back burner for a while. The Scoops gonna come back harder than ever. Buckle in and prep yourselves.
About Us is Also Live
The long awaited About Us Page is up that features a mini biography about each of our authors. Be sure to visit that page to contact us and get to know us more. It would be really neat to further expand this section to include a history section about the what this site franchise has been through [it’s not THAT exciting, but I’ll add a few ninjas and damsels and distress to spice things up.]
We’ve featured Badman before when he faced the Riddler in the face off of the century. College Humor and Frontpage films have made another one where he takes on Scarecrow. Scarecrow’s primary defense is his ability to use fear as a weapon. So when he tries to find out what Batman fears most…well let’s just say he’s in for a surprise. The video is hilarious and even has a celebrity cameo! I want more. With Freeze, Ivy, Catwoman, the whole shebang.
Weekend Funnies on a Friday? It can’t be!? To wrap up the last post before our weeklong break, I’ve decided to switch the final announcement to be moved to tomorrow and Saturday’s planned Weekend Funnies to be moved to today. Enjoy your humor! Continue Reading »
Smart actors play the same character in every movie. Arnold Schwarzenegger was savvy enough to find a performance that worked for him early in his career, and stick with it. But more skilled, show-off actors like to pretend to be different people in every single one of their movies. We asked you to show us what it might look like when those actors occasionally forget which person they’re pretending to be.
Created by artist sahinduezguen as a part of his vector movie posters gallery, this movie poster captures a minimalist style of Quentin Tarantino’s Resevoir Dogs. Assigning each character to their designated colors, the poster indeed sends a powerful message despite it’s simple look. This is certainly a movie I need to watch again, and I hear Tarantino is juggling either making Kill Bill 3 with Vernita Green’s daughter setting out for revenge against Beatrix Kiddo or a Pulp Fiction/Resevoir Dogs prequel starring the Vega brothers. One if not both of those needs to be created immediately.
Also, be sure to visit sahinduezguen‘s devianta art page!
I stumbled upon this pretty amazing rendition of the familiar robots we know and love from Pixar’s Wall-E. Here they are sporting much more mature looks complete with megaman-like arm cannons and a gatling gun mounted over Wall-E’s shoulder. I should point out here that they remind me more of Aperture test robots than they do anything from the movie, but I’m actually pretty okay with that. Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy the picture, and if you want to see more, check out the artist’s deviantart below in the source!.
The time is upon us! Releasing on the exact same day (or at least shipping) as Borderlands 2, the iPhone 5 will hit shelves this month to what Apple hopes to be record breaking sales. People already predict that the sales of the new apple device will help the GDP by an unprecedented .5%, which is pretty freaking ridiculous considering that a single gadget could bolster our economy in that way. We’ll have to wait to see the numbers, however, and will just have to be content drooling over the new pictures and screen shots we got from today’s Apple conference. I’ll cover a few of the really intriguing upgrades in the body of this article. Continue Reading »
What do they tell us? They tell us that Portia de Rossi and David Cross — who play husband and wife, Lindsay and Tobias Funke — are at the airport, collecting their luggage, and that Michael Bluth is picking them up. Also, that Tobias looks like he’s doing an E.T. impression and Lindsay is still totally bangin’ in the high heels and jeans. Or maybe David Cross and Portia de Rossi are simply flying in from somewhere, and Jason Bateman is picking them up so they can continue to discuss how they’re in cahoots with Nikki Finke and messing with all of America by making up this entire movie.
Key words are Portia de Rossi is still banging, even at age 39. Anyone else pumped for Arrested Development? I’ve recently begun watching it again.
