Pixar has a knack for creating some of the most lovable animated characters to ever hit the screen. They’ve done more than 10 movies where each of them has at least 2 or 3 likable/lovable characters. So I’ve made a list of my 5 favorites below.
5. Bob Parr/Mr. Incredible – The Incredibles
Bob Parr is probably one of the most relatable characters in Pixar history, you know, besides the whole superhero aspect of it. Most everyday Americans understand the frustrating aspect of the 8 hour grind to come home to family, and many strive to do something scandalous or illegal to get the thrill they once had when they were younger. In Bob’s case it, it was reliving the superhero days. I await the day I’m working an 8 hour grind, quit my job, and then begin working out by pulling trains.
4. Dory – Finding Nemo
The perfect, lovable foil to Marlin in Finding Nemo, Dory not only served as comic relief, but a large part of the heart in the movie. Her general quirkiness always got the pair in messes and her completely optimistic attitude served as the greatest light in the darkest times. Anyone would be lucky to have her as a companion in the deep blue see.
3. Woody – Toy Story
I grew up with Woody and Buzz. It was difficult in choosing which of them I wanted on this list, but then I realized it should always be Woody. Buzz is fun, yet slightly naive at times and while Woody can be selfish sometimes, he’s got a good heart and more courage than some of his other peers.
2. WALL-e – WALL-e
The most adorable character on this list, Wall-E easily takes the number 2 spot with his adorably naive nature and his heart of gold. And his rickety body doesn’t stop from fighting for his love in a world of modern technology.
1. Anton Ego – Ratatouille
I like to think of myself as a critique and Anton Ego is a critique of critiques. Purely dedicated to his art, he moves with finesse and purpose and uses his malicious diction and criticism to crush anyone who doesn’t please him. When he finally meets his match, he says one of my favorite quotes of all time. Even though it’s catered [lol] to food, I like to think that this type of critique is important to apply to all fields.
In many ways, the work of a critic is easy. We risk very little yet enjoy a position over those who offer up their work and their selves to our judgment. We thrive on negative criticism, which is fun to write and to read. But the bitter truth we critics must face, is that in the grand scheme of things, the average piece of junk is probably more meaningful than our criticism designating it so. But there are times when a critic truly risks something, and that is in the discovery and defense of the new.
I approve. Even though Dori should be slightly higher.
Nice post!! Except mine is Wall-E, hands down. Love the litle Wall-E.
Ok, unrelated question: how do you manage to put a link so people continue to read your post by visiting your blog, and not on their mail?
I’m not exactly sure I follow what you’re asking? If you’re worried about my posts spamming your mail box, I’m sure there is an unsubscribe button that will stop you from receiving emails, but you will still technically be ‘following’ me via WordPress. I’m not entirely sure what link you’re specifically referring to. I’m happy to help you in any way I can.
No, no, not at all… it’s just that I would like to put a link like that in my posts as well. I’ve seen blogs that give you the whole post in your mail (and I don’t know if that is the way mine is; I suppose so). But in yours, there is a paragraph and then there comes a link that says “read more of this post” or something like that. That way, your followers visit your blog every time they read it. I’d like that for my blog, but I don’t know how I can do it… Don’t think for a second I want to unsuscribe!! I love your blog!
Ah yes, this is an issue I can help you with then! On the WordPress editing toolbar there is a tool that says ‘read more’ it will add a bar after whatever line of text you choose that in the homepage will maintain the excerpt above the bar. I assume that the same format appears in emails as well. I hope it helps, let me know what else I can do to help. Happy blogging!
Is it the one that says “Insert more tag”?
sure is!
Thanks!!!
Pixar’s work is so rich. They’ve become what Disney was, when they were first making animated features. I liked these choices, even if you didn’t select any from my favorite, Monsters Inc. (Miiiiike WiZOWsky!)
