The Dark Knight Rises came out last summer, but every once in a while, I stumble upon a cool collection of interesting things regarding the very popular movie.  Despite having a nearly 3 hour run time, it’s pretty obvious that movie had some plot holes.  Many people have tried to use them to tarnish the movie and others go to extreme lengths to refute them.  However, Jest has compiled a very cool way of compiling the plot holes by making them satirical newspaper headlines.  Check out the rest of them below and then refute any of them if you thought of a way to get around it!

LOL, Bruce Wayne might have pulled a dick move here, but he’s pretty right when it comes to telling Lucius Fox off like this.  Essentially what’s happening is that Bruce Wayne is talking about how Lucius destroyed a honing device using cell phones that could’ve been used to find any person based on their voice.  Seeing as how Bane is heard over intercoms and with plenty of sound bites from his football field gig, they possibly could’ve found Bane when they had so much trouble.  Of course, Bruce is gonna be an ass about it.  And it’s hilarious.

We’ve featured Badman before when he faced the Riddler in the face off of the century.  College Humor and Frontpage films have made another one where he takes on Scarecrow.  Scarecrow’s primary defense is his ability to use fear as a weapon.  So when he tries to find out what Batman fears most…well let’s just say he’s in for a surprise.  The video is hilarious and even has a celebrity cameo!  I want more.  With Freeze, Ivy, Catwoman, the whole shebang.

Here’s a cool video series where the video creator takes a look at Batman villains across time.  Starting with the comic books made in the early 1900s, this series extends all the way into the most recent films.  Above I’ve included Scarecrow, but below there’s also Mr. Freeze and Bane.  I’m surprised the creator never made a video with the Joker or Catwoman…I haven’t had enough Batman in my life recently, so I’m thinking of picking up The Long Halloween or The Killing Joke.

I feel bad because it seems as though all the talk around Bane is about comparisons, despite him being extremely original on his own.  His comparison to Heath Ledger’s Joker, his comparison to the muscle headed behemoth in Batman Forever, and now this comparison of his pre-sound edited and post-sound edited voice in the Dark Knight Rises.  The video plays the side by side same scene, both taken out of a theater it seems which results in the low quality, and shows what Bane sounded like with Nolan’s intended Bane voice and then the following post-sound mixing.  I had a hard enough time hearing everything Tom Hardy said in that mask, and when I watched this video, I was even more irritated with the muffling.  I hear in the DVD/BluRay release, Nolan will include both of the mixes.  Will I watch the original?  Probably, but with the aide of subtitles to help me catch on to things that I may have missed as well.  Kudos to those who’ll watch the original mix WITHOUT subtitles.  May God have mercy on your soul.

We’re no stranger to featuring funny Batman parodies.  I don’t particularly think this one is as funny as the Badman series College Humor puts out, but it’s pretty decent.  The action sequences are surprisingly smooth and the club scene is very impressive for amateur video production.  I don’t think the Batman is as funny as he could’ve been, but with so many of these Batman parodies running around, this one shines pretty well.

We’ve featured a couple of face mashes here like Johnny Depp about the characters he’s played.  But this is a different kind of face mash up.  Queue the main villains of the Dark Knight Trilogy.  Scarecrow, Joker, and Bane.  This is a really neat picture who I wish I could credit the artist, but I’ve tried researching and came up empty handed.  Regardless, this is a cool idea that I totally think should be applied to other movies.  But now that I think of it, I can’t seem to think about any trilogy based movies with multiple different bad guys.  Maybe Star Wars having Darth Vader, Boba Fett, and the Emperor?  That’d be kinda cool with the same breather mask style as pictured above…A project to be put into my ideas binder.  See the Johnny Depp pictured we’ve featured before below.  My only question is that why isn’t Ras Al Ghul’s face as Scarecrow…well maybe they’re only using villains for ‘face’ value.  Ha.  I’m hilarious.

There’s a lot of people giving heat to the Dark Knight Rises for the plot holes.  Uproxx had compiled most if not all of the alleged plot holes and sarcastically answered them back with reasonable explanation.  How did Bruce Wayne get back into Gotham? How did Scarecrow become the judge if the people chose everything?  Check out the sarcastic answers [or maybe even just see what all the plot holes are] at the link.

Hitfix did a really cool article before the Dark Knight Rises was released pointing out all the exciting moments that are to come from the movie.  It’s interesting to go back to that article and point out all the questions they had: What role is Joseph Gordon Levitt and Marion Collitard REALLY playing?  Why does everyone have a Tumbler? How will Anne Hathaway redefine Catwoman?  We know know all the answers to these questions and debunking and confirming some of the suspicions were fun.

Now this is a cool clip.  This is a fan-made [I wish I could credit, but it’s so hard these days, someone please remind me if they know] storyboard of how they would include the Joker in [SPOILERS] ……..the scene where Bane releases the inmates of Blackgate and possibly Arkham Asylum ………….[END SPOILERS].  The article had the following subtitles:

Bane: Who’s in there

Henchman: The Clown

Bane: …Leave him

There was a lot of debate in whether or not if the Clown Prince of Crime were included on what his role was, and I think this could of settled a good reason as to why he wasn’t present if he were to be included.  Your thoughts?

The Dark Knight Rises continue to dominate this week’s posts with more and more awesome things surfacing.  Whilst looking back at the Dark Knight trailer for old time goosebumps, I stumbled upon this well done trailer to the entire trilogy.  The monologue fits beautfiully and hearing ‘ol Heath’s voice is near spine chilling.  This trailer truly encompasses not just Batman, but the growth and journey of Bruce Wayne.  The trailer itself is about 6 minutes long but is absolutely entrancing to watch.  It includes clips from all three movies and fits so beautifully together.  Stop reading this and seriously press the play button.  And then when you’re done, press play again.

College Humor has created one of the greatest web series out there, titled project “Badman”.  This web series is essentially a parody of how ridiculous Batman can be.  Batman is portrayed as an idiot in this series.  It’s almost indescribable how awesome this is.  There is definite comic gold in making fun of the way Batman speaks, and putting him in compromising situations is even better.  Check out the entire playlist here.

I’ve lived to only have seen one great trilogy. The Lord of the Rings trilogy set the bar high and absolutely astounded me from start to finish. Meaning all three movies lived up to their titles and I wasn’t disappointed by any of it. This past weekend, I’m proud to admit to adding another trilogy to that list. Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises is quite possibly the only way to end such a great trilogy. There haven’t been many great trilogies in our lives, not any as influential and culturally relevant as this trilogy. In addition to the recent Colorado incident, this will not be a movie I will soon forget.

The follow up to the Dark Knight might’ve cost Christopher Nolan the biggest undertaking ever placed on a director. That movie was simply a masterpiece, large in part to the late Heath Ledger. By merely meeting the audiences expectations, he would’ve accomplished something only so few people can. But of course, Christopher Nolan, who’s directing track record is nearly flawless, delivered and soared as to what can be said as the perfect way to end a trilogy. Minor spoilers below. Nothing back breaking. Or should I say Bat breaking. HA.

The Dark Knight Rises will be popular for a while now, and we’ll continue to be promoting how awesome it is. Here’s a behind the scenes picture of Bane and Batman, aka Tom Hardy and Christian Bale having a talk after a scene. It’s awesome, especially because Tom Hardy had to express all his emotion through his eyes in the movie, and he’s doing it right now. I’m definitely sure that if you could Photoshop his eyes to make him look angry or even sad, this scene would be entirely different. A project that I’ll look back into later.

This week on Banana Scoop, expect articles on the following!   On another note, I know last week, I promised Maintenance Updates every Tuesday, but truth be told, not too many things change in one week, so I’ve moved Maintenance Newsletters to be every OTHER week instead.  Just a little heads up if you were gonna wonder later.

The Dark Knight Rises Review – We’re all praying for the families in Colorado.  It’s such a shame this had to happen.

Game of Thrones Parody – We’ve posted one about it before, and it makes a brilliant sequel!

Garfield Minus Garfield – A look at a witty artist who takes Garfield out of comic strips and shows the delusional mind of Jon Arbuckle

Breaking Bad Weekly Review – Another discussion about tonight’s episode of Breaking Bad!

Ron Perlman Has a Heart of Gold – Ron Perlman helps out a child in need for the Make a Wish Foundation

Minecraft! – Due to time constraints, I wasn’t able to post my article on Minecraft [and it got embarrassingly posted anyways as to faulty scheduling], so we’re going to take another crack at it this week.

I would’ve had this article up yesterday had it not been for the Finals I had to take yesterday.  As many of you know, The Dark Knight Rises trailer has hit the internet, making a wave of spine tingling emotions be felt across the world.  The trailer itself is fairly unorthodox to most trailers I’ve seen for a number of reasons.  We’re essentially told a miniature story within the trailer.  That part is not so unorthodox because most trailers these days seem to give the entire plot to the movie in 3:00 minutes.  But this trailer told a different story.  I think it’s a way of us getting a grasp on the 8 year gap between The Dark Knight Rises and The Dark Knight, to see what has happened to Gotham and Batman.  From what I can tell, he’ been nearly exhausted as a man and feels as though he’s responsible for maintaining Gotham, even in a its darkest hour [Bane’s coming] that will likely destroy him.  I’m sure this theme will be reiterated throughout the movie, but I think having a grasp on this idea know will help us find deeper meaning in what I’m sure is to be a very complex story. Overall, here’s some notes I’ve been taking as I watched the trailer. (more…)
