I absolutely loved Portal, so much that I’ve included one of the sounds as my text tone.  So when I see something a awesome as this, where they take the original soundtrack and an artist creates a fully animated and original take on an iconic scene, I get super freaking giddy.  I loved the reaction Chell has, seeing as we technically can’t see it.  Her face is full of absolute disgust, and then GLaDOS is masterfully rendered as a half human/half robotic being that captures her chilling tone.  And Wheatley looks like Steven Merchant.  Which fits perfectly.  Gosh I wanna play this game again, I’ll probably play it again in a couple of weeks seeing as I’ve probably forgotten how to solve some of the puzzles.

Many gamers should rejoice! According to this article, Half Life 3, the much awaited sequel and possibly ending to the Half Life series, will be announced during Gamescom. I’m a little skeptical as to this notification, however, and will take it with a grain of salt. Multiple Valve employees have already stated via twitter that there won’t be any games shown this year, but who knows with them? I have included a secondary article that explains the debunking behind the myth, and is more than likely correct. On the off chance that it is spoiled this year ’round, I will be incredibly delighted. Though I myself am not a fan of the Half Life series, I do know the amount of fandom and size of its community. Something like this also means that Valve (or just Gabe) knows how to count to three (I joke.). Hopefully it’ll be as good as the community wants, and won’t end up like another Duke Nukem. Hopefully…

Superstar artist Andrea Tamme drew some amazing concept looking Portal art featuring a sensual moment between Chell and Glados.  It’s a neat photo, having it set in debris which I can only imagine is Aperture Science.  I wonder what they’re talking about.  I’m assuming this is pleasant conversation, so the subjects of lying cake, obesity, and loveless parents aren’t on the table.  Maybe they’re talking about that time when Chell turned Glados into a potato.  Surely Glados has a sense of humor…well maybe not when she’s the victim.

Regardless, check out this photo and many other photos at Andrea Tamme’s deviant art page!

A great part of the video game experience is a multiplayer component.  A lot of the games I’m playing these days all have cooperative or competitive aspects that let me play with or against players all around the world or with my friends on my couch.  Here’s a list of games I’m playing and the experiences I’m having with it.

I don’t really want to say anything about this…

So as many of you have already noticed, EA (Electronic Arts) have released their own steam-like application known as Origin, which hosts a lot of the major EA titles, many of which were pulled from steam before the release of the program. Since then…well…it’s received more than its fair share of criticism ranging from poor design to poor customer service. The interview with Gabe Newell, head of Valve and subsequently, Steam, can clue us in to how he views his ‘competition’. At this point this article could be nothing more than speculation, but I found it to be an interesting enough read.
