From Cracked

Smart actors play the same character in every movie. Arnold Schwarzenegger was savvy enough to find a performance that worked for him early in his career, and stick with it. But more skilled, show-off actors like to pretend to be different people in every single one of their movies. We asked you to show us what it might look like when those actors occasionally forget which person they’re pretending to be.

Actors Who are Very Confused in Which Role They’re Playing

Talented artist FerioWind combined two favorite pop culture worlds: Marvel and Pokemon.  In each of these pictures, Avengers major players have been paired with fitting Pokemon.  Thor and his electrics, Loki and his dark types, etc. etc. I particularly like the irony of Hulk’s Pokemon being the cuddliest.  I suppose it calms him.  I am a generation 1 + 2 man, so some of these don’t register with me, but combining Hawkeye and Pidgeot was a good call.  Below I’ve compiled all their individual profiles with the addition of Agent Phil and others!

This is a really cool list.  From Cracked, we have this article about several pieces of art [movie, drawing, etc.] that were created by fans that are significantly better than the original.  For example, someone has taken the Star Wars trilogy and and essentially revamped it to match true fan expectations.  They aligned blaster pistols, cauterized proper wounds, removed useless background things added by George Lucas and even seen above, they added a medal for Chewie!!  Check out all the changes and the other 5 interesting entries in the jump below.

He’s absolutely more known for the Avengers, but let’s take another step back into something he’s done in the past. No, not Dollhouse, that weird prostitute show that starred the sexy Eliza Dushku. No not Buffy: The Vampire Slayer that pre-Twilight vampire crazed show that starred the sexy Sarah Michelle Gellar. But right inbetween there: Firefly. And that’s today’s awesome mash up that combines two of Joss Whedons ultimate babies. I’ve posted before what was already missing from the Avengers, and this is also very relevant.

In Firefly related news, I heard they had a panel and the San Diego Comic Con, where he teared up at the many fans who showed up. Dammit, what I’d give to get that show back on the air. For nostalgia sake, the original opening is below.

Another exciting week on Banana Scoop.  Some of the most entertaining pop culture events of the year are almost here: Breaking Bad and The Dark Knight Rises.  Breaking Bad starts tonight and The Dark Knight Rises on Friday.  Below are the following events we’ll be featuring this week on Banana Scoop.

Minecraft is My New Horrid Addiction

After spending some cash of a game that’s essentially a very advance Farmville, I’ve become horribly addicted to Minecraft.  Instead of writing a review, I truly plan on telling you all of the horrible things I’ve encountered…and why I can’t stay away.

The Avengers Get a Really Cool New Intro

Joss Whedon is heavily known for the Avengers.  So the Avengers get a different kind of opening paying tribute to Joss Whedon.

Breaking Bad Review on Sunday’s Episode

Television’s best television series gets back to set up for its final season.  I can’t contain myself.

A Cool Portal Mashup with Avatar: Legend of Korra

I love Portal and I love Avatar: Legend of Korra.  This mashup I have scheduled later for the week is really creative.

As a followup to one of my earlier posts concerning action figures from the Avengers movie, here is a tiny Black Widow action figure for you to drool over. Noticeably absent from the original cast of action figures, we now see that the figurine was definitely worth the wait. Lifelike to an extent, this collectible definitely belongs with the other celebrity look-a-like Avengers. Check out a gallery of photos from Kotaku in the link below.

Please think of a movie where Samuel L. Jackson is the lead role that’s made millions and millions of dollars…I’m having a difficult time.  Now think of money making franchises that Samuel L. Jackson has had a supporting role in.  Star Wars the prequels.  Jurassic Park.  Kill Bill.  The past 5 or so Marvel movies, and then include the actual Avengers movie.  We’re talking millions here since the 80s and 90s all the way to now.  Entertainment Weekly and I’m entirely sure a large number of other websites have put the numbers together and deemed Mr. Jackson the highest grossing actor.  And rightfully so.  His movies are making so much bank, and he’s not even the lead character.  It has to be something about casting him as a guiding side character that is the key to making a multi-million dollar movie.  Definitely.

The Actor with the Highest Box Office is…Samuel L. Jackson?

“Clench up, Legolas”

So, with the advent of the Avengers movie, surely a lot of swag will come along with it, but these realistic Avenger action figures might just leave you guessing as to whether or not the promo pictures were the actors or the figurines. Each costing over 200$ a piece, these collectors items aren’t cheap, with Tony Stark’s Mark VII Iron Man figurine being limited to a 3000 unit release. Assuming you’re into collecting, and have a lot of money to burn, check out the drawing on Kotaku’s article to enter yourself for the grand prize of four figurines (Nick Fury, Hawkeye, Captain America and Thor).

The Avengers is busy Hulk Smashing awards left and right, and the internet is voluntarily creating more and more buzz by creating these hilarious images.  In this meme, we’ve taken the social medium Facebook and implanted it into the Avengers universe where it’s constantly used.  There are clever jokes and japes that involve likes and the sort.  But I’m sure you read the entire image before you read this paragraph so I’ll assume you’re not living under a rock to the point where you can enjoy it.  HULK SMASH DAT ASS.

Moviefone artists have creatively taken 90s Nicktoons and applied them to the upcoming Avengers.  Above you’ll see representatives from Rugrats, Rocko’s Modern Life, Hey Arnold, and Doug.   A creative notion that I wish I had come up with first.  See these images in higher resolution as well as their standalone pictorals at Moviefone.

Sure there were quite a few movie spots in the Superbowl, but none as awesome as the Avengers.  And by awesome, I meant explodey.  My gosh they’re really selling the whole action movie.  I sure hope this thing isn’t a loud bust, or else I and tons of others will be really upset.  Regardless, the classic Tony Stark humor is always appreciated and once again we ended on the Hulk screaming.  Literally, almost every Avengers teaser ends with the Hulk screaming.

Collider has found a new trailer for the Avengers that gives us a couple of more glances at what the movie has to offer.  Unfortunately it’s still in Russian.

Captain America: The Last Avenger.   This marks the last installment before the full length feature including Hulk, Iron Man, Thor, Hawk Eye, Nick Fury and Black Widow all played by Hollywood’sA-Listers.  Whew, that’s a lot of superheroes.  Anyways, this feature is the story of Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, whose power is…well, being American.  That doesn’t sound too convincing as an entertaining superhero movie.  Wait.  Maybe this is like one of those superhero movies where it’s more realistic and the hero is believable and Red Skull, the villain, is a menacing grounded mastermind whose ‘Red Skull’ is a metaphor.  Oh wait, you’re telling me there are blue lasers, powers of the Gods, and a questionable German Hugo Weaving in a Red Skull…Uhhhh.
