This was an adorable and interesting animation stumbled upon earlier this week. Following the adventures of a blind girl, it allows you to essentially walk a mile in her shoes…or her head. I don’t really have much else to add besides how impressed I am at how well this is done. It reminds me of a short painting animation I recall seeing online a while back. I’ll also be sure to share that one if I ever find it again. Enjoy!

Oculus Rift: Virtual Reality Headset and Technology

While many of you may be skeptical of this at first glance, I figured I’d share it and let you decide for yourselves. What you see above is a video detailing a very fantasy-like bit of technology that may be brought into the real world soon. I’m speaking of course about Virtual Reality headsets. Whether in movies or video games, the ability to project yourself into the game and move about as you would in every day life is astounding. While I’m fairly certain this project won’t really bring us any closer to virtual reality, I believe it is a step in the right direction. “One small step for man” and all that other inspirational stuff. Hopefully you’ll enjoy a little bit of insight as I take a break from reviewing my thinning game collection. (more…)
Borderlands 2 Baddies!

Apparently the long awaited sequel to the Gearbox best-selling game of the year Borderlands will be worth the wait, according to devs. Not only will it come preloaded with new classes and a slew of infinitely more guns than its predecessor, but Borderlands 2 will also feature a ramped up A.I that will bring an air of more difficulty to those of us veterans. While everything here is merely hearsay until we see a good comparison video between the games, I think it’s safe to assume that Gearbox will deliver as they always have. I’m looking forward to having enemies swarm me as I mow them down with the latest and greatest gun I just picked up, or use the newest abilities to completely demolish them. Either way, hopefully I’ll manage to find a couple of you fans out there on the borderlands.

Castle Story Trailer/Kickstarter!

I don’t know how many of you will look forward to this, but for some odd reason I find this game incredibly interesting. Castle Story is a game by Sauropod studios based on creating a castle and defending it against enemies. I can’t really say much more than that as I don’t know the full story myself, but rest assured that it looks to be an amazing game. If you want to contribute to this game, I’ve left a link to the kickstarter below.

I thought I’d share this gem for those of you that haven’t seen it yet. Someone has managed to bring the world of Minecraft into Skyrim, complete with Steve and a few other additions, this mod for the popular Bethesda title has been stirring a lot of talk recently. Though I personally have no feelings about the game, I’m fairly certain there are many of you out there that absolutely can’t stop playing it. Here’s to you, dragonborn! Also, nothing beats getting into a fistfight with a minecraft zombie…

My Take
Pitterpatter from Milliennialxperiance wrote a piece on remembering the time when Xanga was the big social media interface. Being in the target demographic noted, I too was in middle school during that time. It was neat seeing how someone else thinks back to their own childhood and in PitterPatter’s experience, especially seeing as how she moves past it by essentially telling us that we’re better than our middle school selves. I too hated middle school for being that young wasn’t as kind to me as other kids, seeing as my braces, glasses, and ignorance about hair product made me socially inept. But that doesn’t stop me from going back and looking at what all my old friends did and why I chose them as friends in the first place. It’s overall a neat thing to run back to Xanga and simply see how much you’ve grown. And like she said, “come back to the present and start getting ready for Monday, because you’re fabulous and important now”. Words well said.

25 Famous Characters Re-Imagined as Zombies

So I stumbled upon a rather interesting collection of artwork featuring famous animated characters re-imagined as zombies. While keeping most of their cartoon glory, they have been re-purposed with a rather sinister objective. They now exist solely to munch on your brains. While not all that scary, I found the artwork to be incredibly well done and very thematic in some places. For example, Buzz Lightyear lacking blood and having wiring instead or Master Chief seemingly infected by the flood parasites. It’s an incredibly interesting album worth checking out. Some of the characters are obviously named incorrectly as you’ll soon find out, but I won’t rag on the author of the article for his misdemeanor as I truly enjoyed the art.
Earth DLC Review: Swords Everywhere!

I’m going to apologize for this wall of text with a lack of images, as I couldn’t really find anything that I hadn’t used already. After quite a few hours logged on the Mass Effect 3 multiplayer since the release of the Earth DLC, I can say that I’m pleasantly surprised by the amount of effort and new material pumped into this installment of content. Thus far, I have only unlocked 4 of the 6 new classes and 2 of the 3 new guns, with a lot of additional gear bonuses and weapon mods that I won’t begin to tabulate. The new maps each give a sense of impending doom with reapers falling from the sky in each, although I have to say that Vancouver is rather massive for a Mass Effect multiplayer map. It was incredibly large and hard to really get a grasp of while playing. Anyway, let’s move along to covering the details of each part of the DLC, starting with characters.
Real Life Amnesia Brute

Holy cow is this one really cool. For those of you who have had the pleasure of scaring yourselves senseless playing Amnesia: The Dark Descent, I present to you a very well done video featuring somebodies amazing animation skills. What begins as a normal video seemingly taken via a camcorder turns into a fight for survival as the person recording runs across more than they expected to find in their own house. While not as scary as the atmosphere of the game, this video still manages to make me cringe every time I hear the sound of metal shearing against itself. Kudos to the creator, and hopefully they give us more in the future. Enjoy!

With the new DLC just under a week from launch, I figured I’d take the time to outline the basics of what we’ll be getting come next Tuesday. For those hardcore Mass Effect multiplayer fans out there, there is hope. With the new Earth DLC we should be getting a slew of new content that will cater to everyone. With a new character for each class, a few new maps, and a few new guns, this update will keep the battlefields interesting for a long time to come. I’m personally very excited for the upcoming patch, and hopefully after reading the details of this article, you will be too. The character information as well as their skill lists will be included at the end of the article. (more…)
The Evolution of the Geek

In addition to the images posted before concerning the ever so popular realm of geek, here’s a new image that displays the ‘evolution of the geek’ ranging from time periods to topics. It’s an incredibly detailed picture with a lot of depth and multiple genres for you to pick and associate with if you so choose. This goes far beyond the typical ‘Star Trek vs Star Wars’ geekdom we’re used to seeing, and it’s incredibly refreshing to see that ‘geek’ isn’t a label for elitism nor is it a name to call kids who just don’t fit in. I’m fairly certain that everyone can associate with this picture in one way or another, or at the very least I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.

My Take
Zen from Zen Scribbles posted an article about things she missed from her childhood. Among this list is seemingly the staples of most if not all 90’s children, so me being from the same era, I can identify. Pokemon, Gameboy, Fox Kids, Goosebumps were all my favorites when I was a kid myself. It was a nice and refreshing read to look back at a completely different era. Congratulations on Zen Scribbles for your Weekend Reblog!

Every once in a while, I’ll see something on the internet or come across something while sorting through all my stuff that’ll make me miss the things that used to make up my childhood. Many of these things are either gone, changed drastically from when I was a kid, or else considered not appropriate for my age. I can’t help but reminiscence though. Here some things from my childhood!
1. Doll Houses
I loved playing with doll houses as a little girl. I was an only child for the better part of my childhood, and often I’d find myself playing alone. I used to love playing houses! I had two houses and a bunch of toys that could fit in them and use the furniture, and often I’d spend hours playing pretend games with them and trying to get them to go about their lives. Thinking about it now, it’s…

A Self-Solving Rubix Cube Machine

I admit, this isn’t videogame, movie, nor is it tv related. But I thought it’s generally neat how amazing this thing is [next thing you know, Banana Scoop will be covering technology and gadgets haha…Uh oh, we kinda already do that don’t we? Lol.] But otherwise, this image just screams awesomeness for several reasons. 1) It’s made of Lego and Bionicle. Trust me, I know those pieces, I played with those things for a better half of my life. 2) The movement is so seamless that it must be some sort of Graduate student’s final project or something like that. Not only does it perform the task it asks you to do, it also lowers and raises it, and is designed to look somewhat attractive. How do you begin to code something like this? I’ve only taken one Computer Science course, but the sheer mechanics of this are mindboggling…
Keep watching in it’s awesomeness and then proceed immediately to buying a Rubix cube to prove you’re smarter than a machine.
Nintendo Animation Studio?
Posted in Articles on July 6, 2012| Leave a Comment »
Well it may not happen any time soon with the still terrible Mario Bros. movie fresh in my mind, Shigeru Miyamoto has stated his interest in continuing to bring Nintendo names to the big screen. With Pokemon being the most obvious of hits, continuing its trend as one of the longest running and most popular cartoons to date, Nintendo also hit a home run with the Animal Crossing anime, which has also spawned a cult following. The article I linked to only has a single thought from the genius that gave us pretty much everything we want from Nintendo, but that one statement is enough for me to get my hopes up. Will we get Link and Zelda on the big screen? Maybe even Samus Aran clad in her power suit. Only time will tell.
My Favorite Town in the World: Pawnee

It’s been a couple of weeks since NBC’s Parks and Recreation has wrapped up it’s 4th season. As I’ve stated before, I thought it was probably the most heartfelt comedy that aired this past season. There are many reasons why this show is amazing. The writing for this show is absolute gold. And with the amazing cast of characters that deliver the script are equally amazing. However, I’d like to bring your attention to something that’s often used as a joke, but doesn’t necessarily get the spotlight it deserves: the town of Pawnee. Within it’s writing, the creators of the show have created a colorful and amazing town. The town Pawnee itself has had an amazing history of racism towards Indians, hilariously self-centered news broadcasters and talk show hosts, an odd picture gallery depicting gruesome events in history in their city hall, a hilarious series of ‘Welcome Signs’, and more. In this post, I’ll look back on all the things that makes Pawnee awesome besides the lovable people at the Parks and Recreation department.

My Take
From Wonder Wimp, is a compilation of 33 things you could do instead of exercising. My family is pretty much a health nutty family, but I don’t seem to pick up. I’m not entirely too skinny nor over weight, but I am very lean and thin. As for these things I could be doing, some are more out of my range, me being in a suburban neighborhood: like milk a cow or make a snowflake [it’s 100 degrees F where I’m at]. But I do personally love ‘Watch Community’. Congrats Jane on your Reblog!
Google Glass Slated for Release

As you’ve read, Google’s most ambitious project to date will be slated for release sometime next year. With all the other fancy gadgets we haven’t seen yet that were predicted (like hoverboards a la Back to the Future), it’s nice to see some genuine innovation when it comes to every day use technology. Additionally, as you’ve probably already seen in the video, Google Glass is a radical change from the touch screen environment we’re used to using to a more futuristic and edgy kind of optical technology. I haven’t seen anything that dictates how it works yet, but rest assured I’m a true believer in it despite not knowing much else. Check out more in the article I wrote up about this futuristic step forward. (more…)
Wii U Issues Already?

In today’s article we’ll cover something I found a little interesting. According to the article below, the Wii U, before even launching, is being named the ‘power orphan’ of the next-gen consoles. It’s understandable considering Nintendo’s penchant for not necessarily focusing on top of the line hardware when it comes to console based goals. Will this affect how the Wii U sells considering how well the original Wii sold in comparison its competitors? I’m not quite sure how it will pan out but developments like these never bode well for the console in question. Read more in the article below to check out what else has been said.
