Avatar the Last Airbender was definitely one of the best animated series out there. The Legend of Korra took a leap of faith by taking a time skip of about 60+ years to see the repercussions of Avatar Aang and his friends’ actions. Though the Legend of Korra was definitely a great series, I couldn’t help but miss the old Team Avatar. Aang’s playful nature, Toph’s bad-girl antics, and Sokka’s comic relief were all things to be missed. Even their faces. We were lucky to get some flashbacks through Korra’s eyes to see how they were and even their voices. But we never got a look at Zuko or Katara at that age. So at Comic Con Nickelodeon released this awesome image of Team Avatar in full color all grown up. The image brings a large wave of nostalgia and I totally wish they could create an entire series revolving around them.

Space Sword is back!! =) Glider missing though =(
The picture is missing Suki as well, she is as much part of “Team Avatar” as Suko. In the last episodes, when Sokka says “Team Avatar is back”, Suki is there! She spent as much time with them as Suko did, she deserves to be in the grown up pictures! =) And Appa of course.
Oh and to be honest, TLOK is complete rubbish compared to TLAB.
I had always hoped Space Sword would make an appearance in TLOK seeing as how it was vague about how it disappeared and stuff. And as much as I heart Suki and stuff, Zuko’s entire story is much more significant in terms of the big picture in relation to Team Avatar. I’m not saying Suki doesn’t deserve to be in the pic, but I could see the inclusion of Zuko over Suki in the mind of the artist. But you’re right, the real crime here is lack of Appa.
In comparison to TLOK to TLAB, I think they’re different enough to separate the two. I absolutely love the fact that they’re in the same universe, but the creators decided to go with a completely different and risky set of a characters compared to being safe with pleasing old fans with the original characters. And as a huge TLAB fan, I always get giddy when there’s a reference made from the the original series (the picture Katara gave to Kya that had her, Bumi, and Tenzin with mom and dad slayed me).
A much as I love LOK, the original is still important to me. I do not think there will be an animated series of them. I belive that Konietzo said he was going to take a break after Korra, and both have stated that Aang’s story is finished
However, it is stated tere will be a flashback featuring them in book two and maybe we’ll get a comic, who knows
The original is fairly irreplaceable. Such a good series, but Legend of Korra is still fairly young, there’s still time to possibly top The Last Airbender. I’m not saying it’s likely, but even if they don’t, they’ll make it pretty damn good.
I’m sure hoping we get some Zuko flashbacks as well. Young General Iroh was is a spitting image and voice of his grandfather, but you can never replace classic Zuko.
