This is a cool compilation of pictures.  Dorkly created a neat gallery where they took famous video game families/clans and made them into Game of Thrones families with accompanying icons and words.  They’re based on neat trivia and if you have the skill/knowledge of video game universes to ‘get’ them all, then you should give yourself a good pat on the back.  I only put the ones I know below, so check out the rest of them over at Dorkly, tell me where the other ones come from!

Dorkly Bits will certainly delight you if your love old fashioned video games.  Dorkly is a website for classic dork stuff, including old-timey games like Mortal Kombat and Mario.  In their segment called “Dorkly Bits”, they create videos that play off the more hilarious plot holes, parodies, and satires of the games.  For example, check out the above video where in the original Super Mario Bros, instead of Mario getting a Super Star, a Koopa enemy gets one.  Years of hate emerge in the Koopas temporary invincibility.  It’s very hilarious and you should check out some of the videos I compiled below as well as visiting the Dorkly Bits page to see the more recent stuff.

So this is a really cool image about Nintento’s past with controllers.  It’s a really neat graphic that morphs the Nintendo Entertainment System controller through all the other controllers that lead up to this current Wii controller.  It’s really neat at first at how buttons  are slowly added slowly and then all of a sudden, you change from the Gamecube controller to the tiny Wii stick.  I’m sure in a couple of months the creator will make a new .gif that includes the Wii U controller.  That hulking mass of a tablet/controller.

So I stumbled upon a rather interesting collection of artwork featuring famous animated characters re-imagined as zombies. While keeping most of their cartoon glory, they have been re-purposed with a rather sinister objective. They now exist solely to munch on your brains. While not all that scary, I found the artwork to be incredibly well done and very thematic in some places. For example, Buzz Lightyear lacking blood and having wiring instead or Master Chief seemingly infected by the flood parasites. It’s an incredibly interesting album worth checking out. Some of the characters are obviously named incorrectly as you’ll soon find out, but I won’t rag on the author of the article for his misdemeanor as I truly enjoyed the art.

There’s a funny collection of videos online regarding the infamously infuriating game Mario Party. Throughout the series, the AI characters have been known to be notoriously dumb in some of the mini game challenges. So this collection of videos has a character doing absolutely nothing and winning a vast majority of mini games. The funny part is that they’re all done with Luigi. Luigi, who’s known to be the character who usually gets the second hand for everything is ironically winning for once. Here’s a collection of all the videos ranging from Mario Party 2-9.

This is a very cool video of applying some of our favorite SNES games caked onto real life places and scenarios.  Whether it’s Mario at an actual desert or DK in an actual jungle, or maybe even the Street Fighters actually fighting in the street, this is a cool compilation of [some very old] video game pop culture with today’s current and very real life.

The day has come when the legendary Shigeru Miyamoto, the man who brought us the Legend of Zelda and Mario series, wants to work on an FPS. In a strange turn of events, Miyamoto has stated to others that he wishes to work on a project a little more Doom or Call of Duty oriented, but he lacks the time to do so. I’m not quite sure how the people would react to such a thing, but I’m fairly certain that it would be an interesting game nonetheless. Check it all out in the article below and tell us what you think!

*Apologies for the lack of editing on this article, wordpress doesn’t like me right now!

Alrighty, time for another game of the week. This week I’ll be covering a somewhat oldie but definitely a goodie, Super Smash Bros. Brawl. This amazing third installment to an amazing fighting game really took the world by storm (at least those of us who got a Wii), and really brought a lot of things to the table that fans were asking for.

With an amazing roster, cool new items, and a relatively unique single player campaign, SSBB immediately became a must-have game for anyone that owned Nintendo’s latest console. I’ll be covering the ins and outs of the game as a whole, while reminiscing with you lot about how amazing this game is for friends to play around the couch. Hopefully you’ll enjoy this review to the latest game in the Super Smash Bros. series.

They look to be having fun...at the expense of who?

When we play through our various collections of video games, saving the world or racing against friends, we usually do it without thinking about what goes on behind the scenes. Who fixes Mario’s kart, or anyone’s kart for that matter, when they crash into the water or get hit off the course by a shell or other forms of trickery and sometimes douchebaggery (here’s to you, Blue Shell, bane of my existence). What about Link’s neighbors, always being woken up by his terrifying battle screams (NYA! HYA! HAAAAAAA!) in the middle of the night with no explanations, and do those item chest noises always have to be so loud? (DA NA NA NAAAAAAA!). After reading through this article, I assure you that you may have a different take on your favorite video game characters and how they treat those around them. To be fair, most of them already treated everyone else around them like a sack of dung.

Everything artist Chan Hwee Chong has done a series of images that mix the faces and features of various cartoon icons.  I’ve included two sets of photos below.  The first set is a cartoon mixing machine as featured above.  You’ll see Mario, Blossom, among others as if they mated and produced a baby.  The second set of cartoons was labeled his cartoon Nip/Tuck as he took disfigured faces and made them into the famous toons they are today.  Be sure to support him by checking out his website as well as seeing the rest of his art I compiled below.
