As I stated before, I’ve been thinking of getting into comic books. Some of them include cult favorites like Watchmen and League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. But one I’ve been told over and over again to read by everyone who’s been blessed with reading it, is”The Killing Joke”. From what I hear, it’s what Heath Ledger took to when he was trying to get into the mind of the Joker. Besides from that one, UGO has compiled a list of some of best Batman comics out there.

Whilst surfing Warming Glow, they found this absurdly awesome collection of Breaking Bad rendered in Legos. Seeing as I love both Breaking Bad and Legos, this was an absolute must for sharing. And there is no better time than now when Breaking Bad has gloriously returned. So check out the gallery of my favorites below, and be sure to check Warming Glow for the full gallery. My only issue with it is that Jessie kind of has a quizzical and worried look. I wish there was a Lego head the looks like it would say, ‘YEAH B!TCH, MAGNETS!’

I originally thought this was some artist’s crazy rendition of a Salarian badass, but then it’s actually from a Mass Effect comic book – Mass Effect: Redemption. This is Tazzik, one of the agents of the Shadow Broker who’s known for his crazy large size for a Salarian. Even Krogan are surprised by his large size. He’s incredibly badass and he seemed to have played a role in the recovery of Shepherds body. Check out his wiki entry on the Mass Effect wiki to see what he did.

I’m going to apologize for this wall of text with a lack of images, as I couldn’t really find anything that I hadn’t used already. After quite a few hours logged on the Mass Effect 3 multiplayer since the release of the Earth DLC, I can say that I’m pleasantly surprised by the amount of effort and new material pumped into this installment of content. Thus far, I have only unlocked 4 of the 6 new classes and 2 of the 3 new guns, with a lot of additional gear bonuses and weapon mods that I won’t begin to tabulate. The new maps each give a sense of impending doom with reapers falling from the sky in each, although I have to say that Vancouver is rather massive for a Mass Effect multiplayer map. It was incredibly large and hard to really get a grasp of while playing. Anyway, let’s move along to covering the details of each part of the DLC, starting with characters.

Netflix has gloriously taken it upon themselves to broadcast the new mini season of Arrested Development. This begs the questions: why on Earth don’t all people cut the middle men and skip network programming altogether. We’re moving into an age, where [at least in my opinion] television is largely watched through our computers. How convinient all that would be! Anywho, back to this post, following Arrested Development, The Street compiled 10 canceled television shows that should be revived in the same manner as Arrested Development. Some got their due [like Firefly above], but not everyone is always happy.

This is a really cool video of the Star Wars Mos Eisley Cantina music being played over the very infamous LMFAO Party Rock Anthem music video. The super odd part? It fits extremely well. I don’t know if they slowed it down or sped it up to match so perfectly, but it’s actually amazing how hilarious this fits in. I’ve included the original music video below, because despite how often that song was [used to be] played on the radio, the music video is still somewhat fun to watch.

Holy cow is this one really cool. For those of you who have had the pleasure of scaring yourselves senseless playing Amnesia: The Dark Descent, I present to you a very well done video featuring somebodies amazing animation skills. What begins as a normal video seemingly taken via a camcorder turns into a fight for survival as the person recording runs across more than they expected to find in their own house. While not as scary as the atmosphere of the game, this video still manages to make me cringe every time I hear the sound of metal shearing against itself. Kudos to the creator, and hopefully they give us more in the future. Enjoy!

I personally do enjoy the bliss of silence. And many of you who’ve played video games understand that every once in a while, you’ll have a protagonist who essentially goes along with the flow. He/She doesn’t protest nor do he/she have anything to say about a particularly horrible incident. Sometimes these are detrimental to the plot and sometimes it’s just the way some people are. UGO has compiled a list of their favorites silent protagonists. I unfortunately haven’t had the opportunity to play as number 1. Someone recommend that I do and I just might take them up on that offer…

He’s absolutely more known for the Avengers, but let’s take another step back into something he’s done in the past. No, not Dollhouse, that weird prostitute show that starred the sexy Eliza Dushku. No not Buffy: The Vampire Slayer that pre-Twilight vampire crazed show that starred the sexy Sarah Michelle Gellar. But right inbetween there: Firefly. And that’s today’s awesome mash up that combines two of Joss Whedons ultimate babies. I’ve posted before what was already missing from the Avengers, and this is also very relevant.
In Firefly related news, I heard they had a panel and the San Diego Comic Con, where he teared up at the many fans who showed up. Dammit, what I’d give to get that show back on the air. For nostalgia sake, the original opening is below.

I’ve told you before, in another life and another dimension I’d be a graphic artist. And I totally think this would fall into the realm of what I’d be doing. This graphic studio artist had to complete a project and chose a Futurama opening credits to a live action. Despite his odd choices for certain characters [Ron Weasley for Fry, are you kidding me?], the video is very well done and immense kudos to this kid. I like the cardboard effect, although it does get a little stale towards the end. Regardless, keep doing what you’re doing kid. Live your dream and I shall live vicariously through you.

Last Tuesday, I gave a maintenance update regarding the state of the blog and what we have in store, and I kinda felt as though we should do that every week! Besides from Tropic Thunder, The 40 Year Old Virgin is probably my favorite comedy. Like the article said, I think this is Judd Apatow’s best directed movie. I thought it was certainly the funniest and the one with the most heart. Funny People was oddly misguided and Knocked Up was funny, but not as funny as this. Warming Glow has compiled FORTY gifs of some of the best quotes from the movie. I absolutely loved scrolling through this gallery, and if you loved the movie, you will too.

Another awesome Disney Mash Up. We’ve seen Sin City and Game of Thrones, and now we have Batman version of Disney. While the other two featured a large spectrum of Disney characters, this one focuses only on The Lion King. Regardless, it’s really well done. Scar makes a really good Bane and Zazu/Rafiki as an even better Alfred. And the Hyenas fit he chanting really well. I’m always shocked how well the lip syncing fits with the actual dialogue. Check out the video above!

With the Dark Knight Rises coming out this Friday, there’s plenty of reason to get excited. And even better, there’s reason to start posting all things Batman related. Starting with this absurd old timey photo of some steampunk type Batsuit. With heavy emphasis on the wings. The head photoshop is pretty absurd. It looks like the old animated Batman head super imposed on this old guy. Regardless how bad it is, it’s still a neat idea. What we need now is an old timey Joker to fight this guy.

Breaking Bad returned last night in full force. Following up immediately where season 4 left off, the episode spent a large amount of time feeling the ramifications of what happened throughout all the characters. I’m not going into any spoilers until after the jump, so enough of this vague introduction. Let’s get into the what happened! Major spoilers below!!!!!!

My love for South Park is fairly well known. And with recent blow up with Tom Cruise, I was reminded how South Park’s absurdities sometimes resonate with the truth, even it it didn’t mean to. UGO has compiled a list of why South Park continues to be one of the best pop culture satires on air. Everything ranging from greatness consistency to key awesome characters like Randy and Butters are covered. Be sure to check the jump below.

As I finished up drawing Catwoman, I got the idea in my head to kinda go through my process of drawing with you guys. It will be very similar to the walk through of how I maintain my blog. Overall it’s a very interesting concept and I’ve learned A LOT in my journey as an amateur artist. Let me remind everyone: I am not an art major. Almost the exact actually, an engineer. So I have no real knowledge of how this is supposed to be done. The method I use is a rudimentary method of drawing some very amateur sketches. As I get more ambitious, I learn new things and methods that certainly make things easier as I apply them to whatever I draw. My most recent and ambitious project as of late is this Catwoman sketch which is still a work in progress. But I decided to take a break and kinda take you step by step with what I do.
List of Materials:
- Graphics tablet and pen
- Adobe Photoshop
- Internet
- Imagination
Read below for my step by step process. The main idea of this blog is simple: create a layer for everything. You’ll see why below. Please comment if you have any questions or critiques to make things easier! I don’t intend this post to be a guide. There are much better guides out there, it’s more of a documentation of my experiences. I’ll try and explain my steps with helpful screen caps to keep things clear. If you however want more details on this, I can certainly answer any questions you might have for me in the comment section below. I check this blog often so I’ll likely respond to your comments fairly quickly!

My Catwoman is finally done. It took a while, and I see flaws all over it. But I’m exhausted over this project. I’ll definitely be keeping things to smaller scale for a while. Later today, I’m going to post my article about my step by step process of drawing this, so stay tuned!

Another exciting week on Banana Scoop. Some of the most entertaining pop culture events of the year are almost here: Breaking Bad and The Dark Knight Rises. Breaking Bad starts tonight and The Dark Knight Rises on Friday. Below are the following events we’ll be featuring this week on Banana Scoop.
Minecraft is My New Horrid Addiction
After spending some cash of a game that’s essentially a very advance Farmville, I’ve become horribly addicted to Minecraft. Instead of writing a review, I truly plan on telling you all of the horrible things I’ve encountered…and why I can’t stay away.
The Avengers Get a Really Cool New Intro
Joss Whedon is heavily known for the Avengers. So the Avengers get a different kind of opening paying tribute to Joss Whedon.
Breaking Bad Review on Sunday’s Episode
Television’s best television series gets back to set up for its final season. I can’t contain myself.
A Cool Portal Mashup with Avatar: Legend of Korra
I love Portal and I love Avatar: Legend of Korra. This mashup I have scheduled later for the week is really creative.
