Everything artist Chan Hwee Chong has done a series of images that mix the faces and features of various cartoon icons. I’ve included two sets of photos below. The first set is a cartoon mixing machine as featured above. You’ll see Mario, Blossom, among others as if they mated and produced a baby. The second set of cartoons was labeled his cartoon Nip/Tuck as he took disfigured faces and made them into the famous toons they are today. Be sure to support him by checking out his website as well as seeing the rest of his art I compiled below.

Imagine yourself stranded on a hostile planet, your only form of transportation now shooting across the sky in multiple fiery pieces, dissolving into the atmosphere and leaving you to explore the unknown with what may very well be the last of your kind. Despite being cliche, this setup has been a staple of the science fiction community since it has existed. The lone adventurer or group of companions battling the evil alien menace, although in this case you may just be as alien as the planet around you. Welcome to the world of Spiral Knights, a free-to-play MMORPG mixed with a dungeon crawler, developed by Three Rings. For those of you who don’t know, Three Rings is a company that was recently purchased by Sega, and that’s about all we know about them besides the fact that they made Spiral Knights.
Spiral Knights starts the player off right outside a crashed pod, almost reminiscent of the orbital drops from Halo for lack of a better comparison. This begins the tutorial, in which the player is taught the basic controls, which are simple enough to understand. The player moves utilizing the WASD keys and controls almost everything else with the mouse. Before I continue to the story, however, I must include a bit more in-depth explanation of the mechanics. The currency in the game is known as crowns, which can be collected by defeating enemies, breaking boxes, or reaching the elevator located at the end of each level. There is a secondary form of currency known as Energy, which is also required to craft new items as well as proceed further into the main dungeon of the game, otherwise known as the ‘Clockworks’. There are two forms of energy the player can use to do the aforementioned crafting or dungeon crawling. First and foremost is Mist Energy, which regenerates over time. Regardless of how high level you consider yourself to be, or how much money you have, the Mist Energy cap will always remain static at 100. There is no increasing it through items or regenerating it faster, you simply wait for that gauge to fill by a measly one energy every thirteen minutes. Secondly, there is Crystal Energy, which has no limit, but is infinitely harder to obtain. Crystal Energy can only be made by either purchasing it from other players or buying in bulk using real money at the in-game store. There is a major problem with this system, but I’ll cover that later, after I flesh out the story a little more. Continue Reading »

Warming Glow has picked up on the 25 most watched television shows out there and when I took a look at the list, I nearly cried. America as a whole is watching really sh!tty television. American Idol, NCIS, Rob?! And if you include cable, there are things like WWE, Pawn Stars and Spongebob. It’s almost upsetting. I personally don’t watch any of these shows, yet I watch a TON of television. It doesn’t even make sense with how much television I watch and consider ‘great television’ doesn’t even make this list.

If you’re going to satirize the rerelease of an old movie as 3D you might as well make it as absurd as possible. And that’s what Pistol Shrimps, a Youtube account that heavily satirized the Lord of the Rings which I celebrated here. They completely make fun of the rerelease as well as the styles of other directors like JJ Abrams and Michael Bay. The video is well made and fairly hilarious, so be sure to check it out.

If you are a Harry Potter fan reader, you will either do one of three things when you read this article: 1) refute everything this article has to say and have the text to support your claims. 2) be horrified in the universe you’ve come to love and the implications some of your favorite scenes truly had or 3) Be in absolute awe that you never thought of that yourself. This article contains the harsh truths of the Harry Potter universe. There are more than a few people who wish they were wizards in this world, but after reading this article, it’s hard for me to say the same. With the entire world being magic, it seems as though my life would be fairly boring if I didn’t know Harry Potter and was just an average wizard forced to clean owl poop. My favorite point is he sincere lack of education if you’re not an Auror.

This video circled around a couple of weeks ago, pointing out the absurdity of the lightsaber fight, the one redeeming factor I believed to be in the Phantom Menace. It almost broke my heart be be this blind sighted when I saw him point out the most obvious flaws in what I thought was an awesome scene. In this video, the creator decided to point out ways to fight in a lightsaber fight. He’s obviously sarcastic and his true goal is to point out how fake this fight was choreographed. Enjoy. And die a little more inside about thinking about how Star Wars has been ruined.

Being a video game blog along with movies and television, I’m going to try and catch up with the relative lack of posts the video game category currently has. And today I’m going to go through the list of games that I’m buying brand spanking new [used games are a different issue to be discussed in a different time]. 2012 had quite the roster of highly anticipated games, and I can’t wait to get my hands on the following 5. Ordered based on release date.

Was Snow White’s first instinct to clean the house sexist? Moviefone has compiled a list of children’s movies that caught flak for possibly containing some insensitive humor. Obesity, anti-oil, and hidden sex images are mentioned, but it’s up to you to believe if the company meant to add them. I personally like to think so because I like the idea of movie writers and producers snickering in their rooms as they get Snow White residuals from 1950.

From now on Sundays will have one more additional post, concerning what the Weekly Feature is. The Weekly Feature is a new feature [redundancy] that I’ll be including in incorporate lost articles written months ago. I know it’s Monday now, but I ran a little bit behind. Anyways, the weekly features will have links within Banana Feed regarding past articles based on the theme. This week’s theme is Game of Thrones in honor of Game of Thrones Week a couple of weeks ago. I link you to the page here, or simply click the tab at the top of the screen.

Read The North Remembers Review Here.
The second episode of Game of Thrones was aired yesterday. Fortunately for me, I was able to write this article in advance thanks to a leaked Dutch version of the show that aired the following Monday of episode 1, I would usually follow up and share the link to you guys so that we all my enjoy it, but unfortunately it was taken down very soon after it was leaked. It was truly a glorious day for me, and hopefully the Dutch have made the same oopsie daisy as they did last time by the time this post is published and I’m able to take a look at episode 3.
Episode two picked up immediately after where the one left off. As a whole, the episodes are still following a ‘set up’ format, where nothing is actually happening, but a lot of cliff hangers and unfinished conversations are being dropped here and there. As a man who’s read the books, I can see why they include every conversation they had, but if I had not read the books, it would feel like an overwhelming drabble that holds no significance to so far. So I advise the non-readers to truly try and perk up their ears, and even have a pen and notepad to right down names so you may remember if/when they show up later. Also, the show’s penchants for sex doubled this week, notably. As usual, no book spoilers here people. Or under penalty of Bruce the Ape’s wrath, I shall end you [or at least give you a very stern talking to.]

A couple of weeks ago, I did a post regarding some cartoon television shows that I would still watch even if they are catered to children. Avatar the Last Airbender series made the list and I even put the coming sequel time skip, Avatar: The Legend of Korra. And it turns out, the series has begun to be leaked on the internet. Episodes one and two have come out and are linked below. The animation is as beautiful as ever and the soundtrack fits the series so well. Korra is already a likable avatar, if a little hot-headed, and there are amazing political and social plots being set up that are definitely catered to the adult crowd. Enjoy below!

Nearly a month ago, I posted some real life renderings of Disney Princesses. They were beautiful representations of some of the most memorable heroines in Disney movies. A friend came to me afterwards asking for where Cinderella and Snow White and Tiana were. I was surely puzzled because the artist had bothered to draw obscure Princesses like Meg and even Ursula. So I did a little digging and found out that I haven’t shared the entire set yet. So here’s the rest of them. I realized I didn’t give credit to an artist, so let me fix that mistake here: http://jirkavinse.wordpress.com/ The rest are down below.

Here it is lady and gentlemen, my first pure video game related post. Today I’m talking about a game my friend recently let me borrow: Gearbox’s 2009 shooter RPG, Borderlands. The format of these posts will usually be about my personal experiences with the game and what I’ll praise and critique about it. Before I begin talking about my experiences/thoughts about the game, I’ll give you a quick summary regarding some back story.
The planet of Pandora is a desolate wasteland. The world seems to be run by bandits and the dangerous wildlife that inhabits it. A team of treasure hunters have been sent in to discover the ultimate treasure, only known as the vault, on Pandora. You take control of one of the four ‘classes’: a hunter who uses sniper rifles, revolvers, and a deadly bird, a siren, who specializes in smgs, and disappearing in and out of battle, a soldier, who keeps a portable turret, a combat rifle, and shotgun at his sides at all times, and the berserker, who when enraged, starts punching things with his fist. On your way to finding the vault, you’ll need to blast your way through hordes of bandits, animals, and bosses if you want to survive.

Cracked is my crack. They continue as a whole to blow my mind as they make seemingly unaffliated movies be like brother and sister. Like long lost brother and sister that was shoved into the plot of Return of the Jedi because people favored a Solo/Leia storyline. I digress. Cracked has once again proved themselves by taking two movies that have essentially the same storyline. While a couple are a result of pure hindsight, the others are purely hilarious and you’d be foolish to not believe it.

Community X-Men
See the individual pictures here
Here are some compiled some artist interpretations of the cast of Community in different universes. I’ve shown an interpretation before as the cast as X-Men and I’ve included below in the gallery along with some other ones Warming Glow found. Gotham Villains and Calvin and Hobbes be praised. And I loved the whole Streets Ahead reference in the Street Fighter mash up. I’ve also added links to their deviantart pages so be sure to support them by at least visiting them.

South Park season 16 is about 4 episodes in. A while back in the midseason finale for their 15th season, creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker hinted through Randy and Sharon’s marriage failure when it came to their ability to shake things up instead of hitting the refresh button was getting more and more problematic when it came to their marriage. This was probably over analyzed as people saw it as a foreshadowing of how the South Park series was turning out, and people came to a panic that the beloved social satire program would come to an end. And with Stone and Parker’s new broadway hit, The Book of Mormon firing on all cylinders, it seemed almost plausible. But of course they said they’re still planning on continuing for at least 2 more seasons. And that being said, season 16 premiered 4 weeks ago as I just said. And it’s been an excellent premiere that’s got both my head tilting in thought and side splitting in laughter.
