This is a very cool video of applying some of our favorite SNES games caked onto real life places and scenarios. Whether it’s Mario at an actual desert or DK in an actual jungle, or maybe even the Street Fighters actually fighting in the street, this is a cool compilation of [some very old] video game pop culture with today’s current and very real life.

Or not. Receiver, created by Wolfire, is an interesting game that was developed in an astonishing seven days. Despite not being gods, the people over at Wolfire know how to create a compelling experience in a very short amount of time. Showcasing permanent death as a feature in the game, it’s not so much the game changing every time you die as you starting a new character on a brand new world. Either way, it looks like an interesting enough game to keep tabs on. I have yet to give it a whirl, so if any of you know anything more about it, let me know! Also, check out the article below for more information.

It’s probably more poor planning that it is the excuse I’m going to give. But I wasn’t able to finish this week’s comic primarily because my Bamboo Tablet is on the fritz and when the tablet is on the fritz, then no new comics can be made. I’m sorry for the inconvenience. Sure I tried to do it the night before, and simply giving up is a lot worse than trying to at least troubleshoot it, but I said, what the heck, readers can stand one break.
As a poorly kept promise, I’ll try to come up with two comics next week or release this week’s would be comic to be this Sunday’s Sketch. Thanks for hanging together with us.

Cracked has an amazing fanbase that if they ask their users a vague but slightly general topic, they’ll flock to give them their 2 cents of wit. And out of the dozens maybe hundreds that submit their thoughts, a small handful get picked to be presented to millions of readers. This ‘photoplasty’ as they call it is: Video Game Twists that No One Saw coming. You’ll see popular video game culture be combined with movies, television, and hard irony. Enjoy below.

People have a knack for mashing up the lovable and laughable Disney movies with their polar opposites that include grit, sex, and violence. Just check out this Game of Thrones trailer mash up I posted a couple of months ago. Anywho, what we have here is yet another mashup involving some fitting characters of the Disney universe with Robert Rodriguez’s vision of the Frank Miller comic. What I really love about this trailer is that the colors are isolated much like the actual movie itself, and it made me even realize more how provocative some Disney characters really are…definitely something I didn’t notice when I was a kid.

Dan Harmon was a very clever man. We’ve heard rumors of about how difficult a man he is, based on some writers coming forward and the whole spat with Chevy Chase, but you have to give him credit where credit is due. The above video is a compilation of Community for throughout the three seasons it’s been on so far, and you wouldn’t think that something like this was hidden. Everyone knows the mythlore behind when you say Beetlejuice three times, and if you don’t, I highly suggest you watch the Tim Burton film. But the idea is that if you say his name three times he appears. Well, after Beetlejuice is said three times in entirely separate seasons, there’s a small flash of the striped ghost himself. A testament to Harmon’s dedicated writing if anything be praised. Check out the very cool video above.
And if you’re not watching Community, then you’re seriously missing out!

When you’re done with the 30 hour emotional roller coaster that is Mass Effect 3, it’s quite addictive to dabble in the multiplayer. Actually, unknownst to me, you were supposed to play the multiplayer before you got to the finish to maximize your potential outcome. But regardless, I’m sure most Mass Effect 3 owners are in the stage of finishing up the campaign or at least working on it so they can focus on the multiplayer aspect. The game itself may be semi-repetitive, but there is certainly an addictive aspect that gives this mode high replay value. You essentially choose from a series of 5 or 6 races from 6 classes, each differing in their own unique way to team up with 3 others to fight a Horde Mode with sprinkled missions. Today’s post is dedicated to the favorite classes I’ve been playing as of recent.
BTW, if anyone wants to play, friend request me on PSN: Figfire. Write Bananascoop in the message box to give me a heads up.

Moviefone has created a neat gallery of raunchy movie posters in honor of the release of American Reunion. As I browsed through the gallery, I noticed a lot of the highly sexual innuendos of some very common terms and phrases. Besides the obvious ‘coming soon’ one, some of the taglines are rather quite clever. And some are very corny. What’s your favorite raunchy comedy? I haven’t seen a truly raunch comedy like American Pie in a long time….Any suggestions?

This lovely images portrays to heavyweights in the fantasy fiction genre and their stances on ‘killing off characters’. In one corner we have J.K. Rowling who’s most famous for the Harry Potter series. And in the other corner is George R.R. Martin, writer of the Song of Ice and Fire series. For those who are familiar with both, you don’t really need me to understand the very hilarious joke here.
But to the interested, but uneducated in book culture. J.K. Rowling is referencing her quote regarding how difficult it is to kill of some ‘major’ characters in her book series like, SPOILERS —————Snape, Sirius, etc. ————————END SPOILERS. Then we have George R.R. Martin who gives a mocking look because the man LOVES killing off major [see how I don’t use quotes there] characters.
For the curious, I’m having trouble finishing Feast for Crows, I’m currently starting the Soiled Knight’s story arc which is about a third or more in. It’s moving awfully slow compared to the very hectic and awesome Sword of Storms. Does it get better? I’m hoping so…

In a strange twist of artistic creativity, an artist named David (no source on Kotaku) has meshed together the best of both worlds by utilizing the familiar and iconic Adventure Time art style with the characters from the world of Studio Ghibli. It’s a little odd for me to see some of my favorite characters drawn in such a cartoon like fashion, as I grew up watching movies like My Neighbor Totoro and Kiki’s Delivery Service. I’m not one to criticize, especially since I definitely don’t have the ability to draw anything near that well, but the art style just doesn’t really resonate with me. Contrary to popular opinion, I don’t really like Adventure Time, so it figures that I don’t like my favorite fiction characters being transformed into these strange childlike versions of themselves. Anyway, check out the rest of the pictures from the article linked below.

Alex DeLarge from Stanley Kubrick’s A Clockwork Orange is hands down one of the most interesting characters rendered to the screen. Now I’ve never read the book, but I’d imagine Alex DeLarge [or just Alex as I’ve heard he has no last name in the books] is just as insane, maniacal, and almost sympathetic as he’s portrayed in the film. Let those eyes sink in a moment. And when you’re done with your staring contest, scroll down the rest of this post to check out the image gallery I’ve posted. All images were taken from searching Alex DeLarge on Deviant Art. You can check out that page here and look up your favorite artists.

I’m almost positive you guys don’t know this unless you’ve gone out of your way to check how this website is doing on a day-to-day basis, but since the big name change, we’ve gone from 600-700 views a day to barely 30. Naturally this is upsetting because I’ve worked so hard to get to that place, but I’m not losing heart. I’m thinking of it as a chance to start fresh and truly see if people love this site or not. In response, I’ve decided to try even harder than before in making this site all it can be. That means more dedicated posts, more interaction with fellow blogs, and more capitalizing on what’s trending to have heartfelt discussions.
As a preview, here’s a couple of ideas I’m going to start implementing soon:
- Finish the About Us Page/Illustration so people can see what we’re all about here on Banana Feed. I’ve since then taken down the History and Mission Statement to further revamp. We’ll also include two biographies of our authors here and hopefully maybe even try to bring in another or two to help revamp this site.
- The inclusion of a Maintenance Widgit on the right hand menu so anyone can read what’s happening lately and how they can get involved in some really cool stuff.
- In addition to the 4 posts a day [and possible punch up to 5], I’ll double the amount of posts on the weekend from 2 to 4. The two additional posts will cover the following points in bullets 4 and 5
- On Saturday, in addition to the weekend funnies, I’ll be doing a Saturday Reblog. The Saturday Reblog is essentially me reblogging any of my fellow bloggers of an article of interest. While getting reblogged on a site that averages 30 hits isn’t the most awesome thing in the world, but I think it’ll promote interblog communication which is always good. There are a set of rules when it comes to the reblog though. To enter the chance to be reblogged, you must comment on at least one article between the Saturdays of the reblog. The comment must be somewhat insightful to generate a response comment. By doing so, I’ll visit your blog and check your most recent posts to see if anything would work well on Banana Scoop. I wouldn’t only include movie/television/video games posts, but if I see anything interesting, I’ll be sure to bookmark it and revisit it come Saturday. On that I’ll choose my favorite to be featured here.
- The next thing which will be featured on Sunday in addition to the Sunday Sketch [something I didn’t have time for this week], will be the Weekly Preview. As many of you know, Banana Scoop features 4 articles a day. In order to organize such mayhem, I plan all of these articles on a Google Calender, so I know what’s going to post every day. The Weekly Preview will be a short post, highlighting some of my favorite posts this week and their corresponding days. The Weekly Preview will likely be also a Page above the site which will hyperlink the articles as they come by, as well as a time table that has ALL of the posts in the week. This post is more experimental, and is subject to change!
This is only a short summary of things to come, I absolutely love editing and revamping this blog so it’s a pleasure for me to try to make this blog the best it can be. Be sure to comment below on your thoughts/support/concerns and get your name in the reblog pool today! And also be sure to let me know what else I can do to make your time here on Banana Scoop the best it can be.

I’ve soon learned that Weekend Funnies are a temporary vacation from you real life, as you get stuck in a world where life doesn’t suck so much. A world where anonymity is power that allows you to be racist, sexist, judgmental, or all of the above for a few quick minutes and then you can return to whoever you were before. So take this time and enjoy these 24 images are your escape from your likely hellish life. And if your offended with one image, always remember that if EVERYONE finds it funny, it probably truly isn’t.

Very similar to yesterday’s post regarding Mike O’Brien getting famous celebrities to do crazy things in his closet, Zach ‘Alan’ Galifianakis gets famous A-listers to sit down in his garage to talk for a bit. According to Galifianakis himself, he apparently calls up celebs and asks them to leave their lawyers and guards behind him and sit down with him in a garage to do a short interview. What happens is that Galifianakis himself becomes a disgusting and awkward host to the unsuspecting celebs which forces them into gleefully uncomfortable situations. Some actors maintain their game face and play along while others get completely upset and storm off. It’s all staged of course, but that doesn’t take away how awesome both this host and the interviewees are. I always believed Sean Penn to have a major stick up his ass, but after he did this, I kinda like him a lot better now…even if he did the interview with that persona, you have to admit that agreeing to do this was completely unlike his character. Check out my favorites below!

So folks, Kotaku caught my eye with a rather interesting article that may or may not be true. But with a title like ‘The Last Great Wii Game’, I couldn’t help but have my interest piqued by this piece. It covers the story of a game titled ‘The Last Story’, which, as the title states, may just be the last great Wii game we’ll see before Nintendo decides to retire their family-friendly console for a more edgy, sleek, touch-screen integrated one. Either way, I hope you have a great time reading this article as it really does capture the atmosphere behind a game like this.

Some directors like working with actors so much in one film, that they’ll ask them to be in another one. And another one. And another one. Soon enough they almost look inseparable like the above image where if you weren’t paying attention you might confuse Tim Burton with Sweeny Todd. Haha, maybe that’s not what it’s like in all cases, but there are certainly a number of pairs of actors and directors that like each other so much, that the number of films they’ve collaborated on [non-sequel] demonstrates that they’re probably more than just co-workers…See a list of several of these pairings below.

Cracked has once again debunked several gaping questions in lovable kids movies. Yes the Iron Giant was sent to Earth to destroy the planet, but when his iron heart was thawed and Earth was saved, what does that mean for his other Iron Giant friends who were sent to other planets to destroy them? Will they all come back to Earth and finish the jobs themselves? In Monster’s Inc. Boo was gone from her bedroom for an incredibly long time. Those poor parents who couldn’t find their kid, and when their kid came back and she began blabbering about kittys and Mike Wizowskis, they might have put poor Boo on drugs to calm her hyperactive and likely scarred for life mind….Read more about what Cracked has to say about these movies and more below.

Lone Fire Warrior is a monster. With a combination of gmod [Garry’s Mod] and Photoshop, he was able to take Video Game’s most current heroes and pit them against video game’s worst enemies. With more than just a crazy action shot, a lot of these images have heart and emotion just based on the lighting, postures of the characters, and atmosphere around them. This amazing series, named the Vindicator Series, is a gallery of these heroes in multiple situations. Be sure the check out the rest of the gallery compiled below and then visit his Deviant Art Page to take a look at what else he has cooked up.

Mike O’Brien. For some reason the man is difficult to find a Wikipedia or IMDB page about him. Apparently he’s a writer for SNL who’s been granted the good grace of spending 7 Minutes in Heaven with major players in the pop culture world. In these 7 minutes, he asks them awkward questions, puts them in uncomfortable situations, makes them play entire scenarios in closet and in true 7 minutes in heaven fashion, he tries to kiss them at the end of the interview. He’s had both major and minor people come in his closet and while not all of them are exactly 7 minutes, they’re definitely worth the watch.
