In a strange twist of artistic creativity, an artist named David (no source on Kotaku) has meshed together the best of both worlds by utilizing the familiar and iconic Adventure Time art style with the characters from the world of Studio Ghibli. It’s a little odd for me to see some of my favorite characters drawn in such a cartoon like fashion, as I grew up watching movies like My Neighbor Totoro and Kiki’s Delivery Service. I’m not one to criticize, especially since I definitely don’t have the ability to draw anything near that well, but the art style just doesn’t really resonate with me. Contrary to popular opinion, I don’t really like Adventure Time, so it figures that I don’t like my favorite fiction characters being transformed into these strange childlike versions of themselves. Pixar is the front runner for promising animated films of this generation.  Classic Disney was the front runner for giving us the best animation of the 1900s.  It seems Disney and its acquisitions have always given us the most memorable animated movies that we watched when we were children and will recommend our children to watch as we grow older.  So finding a great animated feature that doesn’t have the production title Disney, is indeed a rare gem.  I tried to find as much range as possible.  Please remind me if I missed any.  Hit the jump for the list.
