This is a really cool mashup of a very serious movie and one of the kiddiest movies out there. The Toy Shining combines Pixar’s Toy Story and Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining. Artist Kyle Lambert came up with this visionary combination. I’ve picked some of my favorites here. Go visit the rest at Huffington Post.

The Superbad Sex Scene Table Read is All Sorts of Awesome

This leaked a while back, which looks like to have all the stars of Superbad sitting a table what the industry calls a ‘table read’. The star moment is the awkward sex scene between Michael Cera and Martha MacIsaac as they rehearse their forced sex scene. Enjoy!
Morning Banana Oatmeal: Movie Hacks that Actually Exist
Posted in Lists, Movies, tagged computer science, hacks, Movies on May 8, 2012| Leave a Comment »
Some people do some pretty amazing stuff in Movies that have to do with some sort of extensive tech expertise. The ATM jacking scene in Terminator 2: Judgement Day, the universal TV public access in V for Vendetta, there are a ton out there. But more than often, you’d think of this kind of thing to be only in the TV and movies. But Cracked has compiled some instances in where these crazy hacks happen in real life. One crazy hack thing I recall was in Die Hard with a Vengeance where they were remote exploding people from their computers and apparently we can’t do this. Oh well, probably for the best.
The Twins Don’t Judge

I’m not entirely sure about the mythology of the Harry Potter Universe, and I’m sure you die hard fans could possibly debunk this theory, but here’s the set up to the meme. The Marauder’s Map can show the name of pretty much anyone in Hogwarts castle, regardless if they’re animagus or human. So the idea of Peter Pettigrew showing up on the map was a pretty big deal when the map came into the hands of Harry. We know now that Peter Pettigrew was Ron’s rat all along. But the real questions is that for years, George and Fred have held the map in their hands and used it to navigate the castle. Surely they saw the following: their brother Ron and a mysterious man named Peter Pettigrew together nearly all the time on the map, especially at night. Sure the Maruader’s Map doesn’t explicitly tell what two people are doing, but surely one can insinuate something that happens nearly all the time.
Another hole in Rowling’s universe? Or quite possibly a disgusting truth to the two twins. HP still blowing my mind after it’s techincally over.
A Cool Community/Dark Knight Rises Mash Up
Posted in Movies, Television, tagged Community, Dark Knight Rises, NBC, Six Season and a Movie, Warner Bros. on May 4, 2012| 1 Comment »
Back before when Community was still on hiatus, a number of people did artistic works in support of the beloved series. When it was announced it would return come March 15th, the internet went in a storm of laughter and rejoice. As a result, there were even more fan tributes to the series. This one I’ve included is a tastefully done mash up of Community and the Dark Knight rises. The most spine chilling moment for me was when Chang played Bane. Perfect timing.
My Favorite Action Movie and Why: Die Hard

A long time ago, I wrote a very long article concerning my favorite comedy: Tropic Thunder. It wasn’t soon after I published that article did I think of my favorite movies from other dramas. It’s difficult to narrow them down, but I eventually settled on action movies. I thought hard about which action movie is very much worth calling, ‘the best’. But when you really come down to it, the most influential and generally awesome action movie of all time is “Die Hard”. Almost every person can relate to the lovable John McClane, the idea of one man vs. a dozen is well displayed here, and the outside help elements are film staples we see in just about every action film these days. It doesn’t take a movie critic or a film education to realize how elements from this movie have influenced the industry today, and I’ll try my best to break it down for you all. But first, a summary.
John McClane, a New York police cop, is heading west to join his separated wife for Christmas and their children. His wife is in the middle of a corporate Christmas party after a celebrated project wrap up, so he must make his way to the building itself. Admist meeting her and her fellow co-workers, the building is suddenly taken hostage while John narrowly escapes. In a game of cat and mouse between John McClane and the terrorists, led my Hans Gruber, he must shoot, trick, and explode his way back to his wife with the help of a local cop and a young limo driver.
Movies with Mass Effect Morality Choices

Oh my goodness, I love it when movies and videogames collide in pop culture. And Dorkly is usually the best at doing this sort of thing. What we have here is an interpretation of famous movie quotes as though they were given in a Mass Effect dialogue option. Those who know Mass Effect won’t need an explanation, but for the uninitiated but still interested, the Mass Effect dialogue tree is an interactive conversation ploy that directs how you want your person to be played throughout the game. During points of most conversations, a tree comes up how you want to respond. You may respond neutrally, or in most cases you have a paragon/renegade option where if you choose the blue path, you’re a nice guy who plays the hero card or if you choose the red option, you’re a liscenesed bad ass. Now take a look at the Han Solo example above. In response to Leia saying ‘I love you’, the Mass Effect dialogue tree comes up and you have a series of choices. Obviously you know the red option is the real dialogue and exemplifies that Han Solo is a badass. Get it? Got it? Good. Here are 4 more of my favorites below. Be sure to check out the other 8 at Dorkly here.

Moviefone artists have creatively taken 90s Nicktoons and applied them to the upcoming Avengers. Above you’ll see representatives from Rugrats, Rocko’s Modern Life, Hey Arnold, and Doug. A creative notion that I wish I had come up with first. See these images in higher resolution as well as their standalone pictorals at Moviefone.

College Humor enlisted Dan Markowitz from Defectivity.com to draw a neat schematic as to why you’d be bleeding according to movie cliche’s. While none are overly insightful, you gotta appreciate the art and semi-witty statements that accompany it. Above is the first half, in support of College Humor, I’ll link you to the second half.
Breaking Down the New The Dark Knight Rises Trailer

I would’ve had this article up yesterday had it not been for the Finals I had to take yesterday. As many of you know, The Dark Knight Rises trailer has hit the internet, making a wave of spine tingling emotions be felt across the world. The trailer itself is fairly unorthodox to most trailers I’ve seen for a number of reasons. We’re essentially told a miniature story within the trailer. That part is not so unorthodox because most trailers these days seem to give the entire plot to the movie in 3:00 minutes. But this trailer told a different story. I think it’s a way of us getting a grasp on the 8 year gap between The Dark Knight Rises and The Dark Knight, to see what has happened to Gotham and Batman. From what I can tell, he’ been nearly exhausted as a man and feels as though he’s responsible for maintaining Gotham, even in a its darkest hour [Bane’s coming] that will likely destroy him. I’m sure this theme will be reiterated throughout the movie, but I think having a grasp on this idea know will help us find deeper meaning in what I’m sure is to be a very complex story. Overall, here’s some notes I’ve been taking as I watched the trailer. (more…)

Follow @GregBurney for this rendition and awesome breakdown of the one of Christopher Nolan’s first movies Memento. If you haven’t seen this movie, it’s probably one of film buff’s 101 movies to watch. The style, the story, the performance. Everything about this movie will make you fall in love with the industry like I have. And it’s clear that others who have fallen in love with the industry can create graphics like this to absolutely blow people’s mind just as much as the movie did.
The First Released Images of Django Unchained

Entertainment Weekly has released the first two stills of Tarantino’s upcoming flick, Django Unchained. The film itself revolves around slavery during the western years as former slave Django (Jamie Foxx), needs to fight through accepted racial barriers to save his wife from major slave holder Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio). Along with the ride is foreigner Dr. King Schultz, who is unaccustomed to the slavery of this land. Together they take on Candi with guns and your usual Tarantino badassness. Below is the image of Candie himself, who looks as though he’s about to bash a gentlemen’s head in.

Pic Unrelated.
Today’s morning link revolves around a topic that I’d like to someday cover regarding the conundrum I have multiple times: Whether to rewatch an classic vs. experience something new. There are obviously pros and cons to both. Den of Geek has graciously outlined the argument with a redeemer that there is no right answer.

That’s why Buzzsugar has amazingly put together some of the best bromances. You’ll see all your favorite duos here that have great chemistry. They more than likely can teach you a thing or two how to treat a fellow bro and how to not treat a fellow bro.

The Geniuses Behind Pixar vs. Dreamworks

As much as I would love to credit an artist, I’m compelled to say that this was created from the vast depth of what is ‘Anon’. Regardless of who made it [definitely not me], it’s hilarious how coincidental this is. There are definite lines between the Dreamworks creative team and the Pixar creative team. While both have their merits, it’s clear which one has a more distinct style when it comes to story. And the whole animal giving the raised eyebrow treatment doesn’t really help their cause. Maybe that’s why Pixar outnumbers Dreamworks Animation in Best Animated Picture by like kajillion to one. Somebody dig up the actual number, I think it’d be fairly interesting.
5 (6) of My Favorite War Time Speeches to Tingle Your Bones

There are many great moments in movies where a speech is given to rally the troops right before an impending attack or an aggressive attack. These are absolutely necessary for the soldier to not lose heart in the face of battle because discipline out-wins numbers or size 9 times out of 10. So it lies on the speaker’s voice and words to influence a man to either stand and fight or run away like a coward. Here are six speeches that would make me stand and fight for anyone for anything.
Morning Banana Oatmeal: Superhero Reboots to Come

W. Rowntree and Cracked.com has once again come up with this amazing webcomic about the absurdity behind superhero reboots. I love the justification descriptions behind each one and they truly represent how ridiculous reboots and revamps are becoming. That being said, the new Spiderman is completely unnecessary and the only reason I might see it is because Emma Stone is A-Mah-Zing.
