There are many great moments in movies where a speech is given to rally the troops right before an impending attack or an aggressive attack. These are absolutely necessary for the soldier to not lose heart in the face of battle because discipline out-wins numbers or size 9 times out of 10. So it lies on the speaker’s voice and words to influence a man to either stand and fight or run away like a coward. Here are six speeches that would make me stand and fight for anyone for anything.
Braveheart
It doesn’t get much better than Mel Gibson inspiring Scotsman to rise up to a cause. Probably one of the most memorable battles in cinema of course needs an equally memorable opening speech.
Lord of the Rings
I was split between two major speeches in the Return of the King. Theoden’s Charge on Palennor fields probably had me spine tingling more, but Aragorn’s Black Gate speech had more weight. So I included both of them.

It was difficult in finding the actual speech, so I only had the audio. This is probably the most non-traditional one included on this list. But still had me tingling when I watched the actual clip. Only a reason to watch this awesome movie again.

The Great Dictator
I did a post regarding how to make the Great Dictator’s memorable speech here and included the revised addition as the video. I will once again state how relevant something done over 40 years ago still holds relevance today.
Side Note: I haven’t seen Patton or Henry V, but I’ve heard they’re mighty good speeches.
