The mid-season finale of Breaking Bad was done over a month ago and I’m still feeling the aftershocks of it. I found this sweet video that chronicles the change of Walter White’s character throughout all the seasons. Naturally, a brush of nostalgic and spine chilling air swept over me as the music tuned in with the perfect moments created an unforgettable 8 minutes. Before I posted this video, I literally watched this video at least once a week for the cheap thrills. Breaking Bad is just so good because of it’s complexity and underlying themes. It’s so much more than a guy cooking some meth and getting tangled into drug rings. An ace Youtube commenter marked minute as the ‘death’ of Walter White. Well at least the metaphorical death, whereas the rest of the series he’s essentially full blown Heisenberg. I highly recommend any Breaking Bad fan to watch this clip. SPOILERS FROM THE ENTIRE SERIES.
Now someone needs to do a Jessie Pinkman video. Like now.
EDIT**: Found the artist, check out Votric’s Deviant Art Page!
This picture of the Parr family in the future is both awesome and adorable. How about awesomely adorable. The Incredibles is probably one of my favorite Pixar movies. Here we have Bob and Helen, aged and still very in love, but what’s even cooler is how their kids have grown. Violet seems to have adapted her father’s older costume, Dash seems to have added a little Frozone flair, and then Jack-Jack went traditional. I want an entire back story to this: Their names, arch nemeses, and how their powers have changed. And more Frozone. I’d like to see Frozone’s family as well…Pixar, will you please make Incredibles 2 with this as your inspiration?
Growing up amidst the all encompassing world of modern societal media, it is no surprise that a lifetime of movies depicting everyday life has begun to effect how many of us view our own lives. Sometimes the influences of movies have effects we aren’t even aware of, but are simply embedded in our minds and accepted as fact. I will describe some of these interesting facts below, and illustrate some examples of cinematic misinformation.
From IGN, not very definitive, but who needs to explain Halo Minecraft? Anywho, take a look at some crazy ways people on Minecraft waste time. Bah who am I kidding, if I had the slightest ability to make any of these things, I totally would dedicate the hours to do so.
Happy Minecraft Monday! To celebrate, let’s take a look at the some of the impressive ways Halo fans have expressed their love for the sci-fi shooter series…. in blocky Minecraft form.
Gungnam Style is a pop culture phenomenon. So combining it with other pop culture phenomenons seems like a good idea. Take this Empire Strikes Back example. This is the scene where Lando betrays Han, and betrays he does. When Han expects a pleasant dinner, he is instead greeted by Psy and the humping-asian-dude-in-a-straw-hat. Naturally, Han fires first (like a mother f*cking boss), only to have the asian man’s lumps and bumps deflect them.
An unnecessary breakdown of the 30 seconds clip? Yes. But I personally had fun writing it.
Crazy awesome artist Hatboy, had combined something truly awesome. Tim Burton gothic style art and Pokemon. Luckily, this guy is from my generation and he seems to be using the first 150 as his content material. As you can see from above, he takes a popular Pokemon type and redraws them with Tim Burton trademark creepy features and distinct art style…I can’t seem to find another word for it besides gothic and I keep wanting to use Corpse Bridey/Nightmare Before Christmasy. You can check out the entire gallery through his link where he does way more than some of the ones I featured here. Go on below to check out the rest of my favorites.
The workplace comedy. It’s funny how work place comedies entertain us through something that we’re supposed to be confronting with everyday. For those who don’t know what the workplace comedy is, it’s like a movie or television show that is primarily set in a single business and follows the antics of its employees, using jokes that are relatable to anyone in a similar situation [queue the entire workforce]. The comedy is written around office norms and situations and the antics that can occur. While some movies and television can be solid escapism, workplace comedy juggernauts like Clerks, Office Space, The Office, etc. can certainly point out some of the funnier aspects in what many of us consider mundane.
Queue the most recent workplace comedy I’ve been fortunate enough to watch: Starz’s Party Down, starring Adam Scott, Lizzy Caplan, and Ken Marino. This show aired in 2009 and was cancelled after 2 seasons. There have been talks about a movie release, but it doesn’t seem enough gas is on the burner, so I’m writing this article to maybe get 1 or 2 of you involved with watching to increase the cult following. Set is California, the comedy revolves around a party catering company that primarily consists of failed/working actors using the catering company Party Down as a means of making money before finally making it big. Self-centered, lazy, horny, ignorant and [often] drugged up, the Pardy Down crew ‘caters’ to a myriad of hilariously great situations that involve brushing with a Russian Mob, a Porn Star Dinner, and an orgy. Read more as to why I recommend you become a follower of this cult hit [more cult followers = more likely chance of a movie getting made, just look at what Arrested Development accomplished].
We are seriously excited to present our project to you: Shimi, the first musically intelligent robotic speaker dock. Shimi is a real robot with artificial intelligence that analyzes music it plays through his speaker-ears and generates real-time unique dance moves to bring the music to life in a fun, cute way.
Hey-Oh, what’s up!? Another update on how we’re progressing here on Banana Scoop with a couple of new details on what we’ll be working on for the next week or so. It’s primarily art announcements where I’m talking about some new icons and pictures I want to replace here and there. The biggest story of the week is how we recently reached 100,000 views overall which is a big deal for a small blog like ourselves. Check out the full update below!
An Incredible Marker, our 100,000th Hit
Banana Scoop has some fantastic news to share with you all! It has received over 100,000 hits in total since it’s first conception! We’re incredibly blessed and over the year ago I started this blog, there have been a combination of both good and bad times. The older times where, I was all alone with deadlines all over the place and the good times where I was fortunate enough to be Freshly Pressed, twice.
This isn’t a sketch created from my Bamboo Create, but it’s rather a look at another creative project I’ve been working on. Some members of our team on Banana Scoop are really into Minecraft, a game that I’ve written about here, here, and here. We’ve finally created a server which allows us to play multiplayer and we have since then begun creating a small town. We’re really proud of what we’ve created so far, and it’s only growing. So sorry I haven’t been able to have time to draw, I’ve been really busy building these houses! Here’s a look at the town created so far! Enjoy.
If there’s anything Weekend Funnies have taught me, is that not everyone has the same sense of humor. But the internet is a generally a collection of everyone and the sheer compilation of the wit and humor that each individual contributes essentially represents the most broadest and generalist appeals to mankind. So when I choose the 24 images for each Weekend Funny, I know the reason I think it’s funny will be at least funny to some percentage of the world. And even if the it’s the smallest 1%, 1% of 7 billion is still 700 million. So I apologize if you’re offended, disgusted, or upset. Truth be told, if you can’t handle these 24 images, you likely shouldn’t be on the internet anyways. So stop worrying about racism, sexism, and other means of being upset. Just keep scrolling, and remember: no one’s looking, it’s okay to smile at something someone would frown upon.
There’s something soothing about combining the innocence and general happiness of Disney movies and mixing them up with gritty and rather violent movies. We’ve featured Game of Thrones, Lion King, among many others here before that all feature iconic and lovable Disney characters being lip dubbed to saying brutal and unforgiving things. Well we’ve got another here that features a much more similar plot line to it’s graphic counterpart. Taking Nemo features Finding Nemo and Taken in a mixed up trailer. It’s very fitting considering the similar plots of having children taken away from fathers. The trailer’s pretty badass and having the contrast of Marlin turning from hesitant father to Neeson-badassery is all around awesome.
So this was a really interesting TED talk that I decided I’d share with you guys. It discusses a rather interesting topic, but I’ll let you guys watch it and make your own decisions concerning it. It’s rather intriguing how many different opinions and viewpoints from the world that are discussed in this particular talk that resonate with the events of today’s world. Hopefully you guys draw your own conclusions concerning this particular talk, and comment with how you guys feel or why you feel that way.
It took a while, but I finally got to the end of Mockingjay, the third book of the Hunger Games Trilogy. To be straightforward with it, I’ll be honest, I didn’t enjoy this one. People say that the third book is their least favorite, but this book became so much of a chore to finish, that I ended up resenting it for putting me through it in order to finish. The adventures of Katniss Everdeen have long worn me down with her whining and essential uselessness, and the finale of the war for Panem through her eyes is so boring and disappointing that it kind of put a sour taste in my mouth regarding the whole series. And I find it even harder to believe that this is the movie they’ll be splitting up into two parts. Below, my list of both my distastes and liked moments of the Hunger Games Trilogy Finale. Spoilers below.
There have been countless Bond girls over the years, from Pussy Galore to Mary Goodnight to Strawberry Fields, and the most iconic 007 femme fatale would probably be bikini-clad Ursula Andress, who played Honey Ryder in the first James Bond film, Dr. No, in 1962. See the bodacious ladies who’ve wielded guns, showed off their assets, and bedded Bond for the last 50-plus years!
This is a really cool intro to Breaking Bad. It includes a lot of the main players in a sweet montage with an extended track version of the song. It totally encompasses the journey of each character in the collage of key scenes, both loved and hated [looking at your Marie]. Although I would’ve liked credits to Giancarlo Esposito and Jonathan Banks, this will certainly do. The short version isn’t an all great opening, but this prolonged version definitely gives off a creepiness vibe. And as a chemical engineer at my college, the whole periodic table thing has got me even giddier. Slightly less than a year until the season finale.
Need to fill your for gore and death? Love Game of Thrones? Then this video is for you! These two videos compile all the deaths from the first season of Game of the Thrones. It gets pretty brutal and shows with high body counts are slightly disturbing, especially because it seems that it can be directly proportional to how popular the show is….What does that say about society? What does it say about society that these videos have 200 thousands hits combined with an overall positive liking bar…
If that’s distrubing think about a video that compiles all the nudity of Game of Throne and see how many hits it gets…Well I’m actually probably sure that it already exists and it probably has more hits than this site has in total…[which is as of recently a wee bit short of 100,000].
Please don’t mind this as it was almost 2 in the morning when I wrote it, and I’m incredibly tired. So, I was lucky enough to be able to get my hands on an iPhone 5 today. As such, I thought I’d write an awesome review about it here on banana scoop. I will try to keep the following article as unbiased as possible with consideration to the Galaxy SIII, which is a monster in its own right. This will primarily be about the iPhone, however, so if you have a penchant for hating on apple products, then leave it at the door. Feel free to read more about my in-depth first look in the article below. Continue Reading »
If all movies followed the same physical laws as the real world, they wouldn’t be a lot of fun — we don’t want action heroes to break their legs every time they jump off a bridge and into the top of a speeding truck, we want them to roll over painlessly and continue with the chase scene (or, alternatively, to explode for no reason).
However, once you’ve established the rules of your movie universe, the only thing we ask is that you follow those rules. Don’t say that your time traveling robot unicorn is powered by ice cream in one scene and blowjobs in the next. That’s just sloppy writing.
This is a cool compilation of pictures. Dorkly created a neat gallery where they took famous video game families/clans and made them into Game of Thrones families with accompanying icons and words. They’re based on neat trivia and if you have the skill/knowledge of video game universes to ‘get’ them all, then you should give yourself a good pat on the back. I only put the ones I know below, so check out the rest of them over at Dorkly, tell me where the other ones come from!
