Inspector Gadget is another one of those characters that could be so much more badass had he not been restricted to a children’s television show. Everyone knows that. Especially artists. So let’s forget Matthew Broderick’s version for a while and escape to a more practical world for a cybernetic human. Here’s a gallery of what artists everywhere thought of when they hear the words “Go Go Gadget”

Director Filmography Ranked: Martin Scorsese

Martin Scorsese is widely regarded as one of the best directors in the industry today. You don’t need to be a film buff to enjoy most of his work, but if you are, you can appreciate it all the more. He has a large resume of impressive movies ranging from Goodfellas to Gangs of New York. He’s directed some of the most mesmerizing performances from Robert DeNiro and Leonardo DiCaprio. The last Director Filmography Ranked I did was for Christopher Nolan, and like him, it’s incredibly difficult to place one movie in front of another. So I eventually had to base it more off of what I’d rewatch over and over again. Hit the jump for the [very flawed and biased] ranking of the 8 Martin Scorsese movies I’ve seen so far. Be sure to recommend to me any ones I missed. I’ve particularly heard Casino is very good.
Charlie Day is Hosting SNL this Weekend
Posted in Television, tagged Charlie Day, Emma Stone, Jason Segal, NBC, SNL, television, TV on November 2, 2011| Leave a Comment »

As most of you know, Anna Faris’s last hosting gig at SNL was a complete blunder. It was ill-prepared, poorly written, and extremely unfunny. However, NBC has released it’s line up of the next few guests: Charlie Day, Emma Stone, and Jason Segal. This is an impressive and talented line up and I’m very excited about what they bring come Saturday Night. Day and Segal are first timers and this will be Stone’s second time.
So this weekend has Horrible Bosses and It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia star Charlie Day as host, and I have high expectations. More than often Day has had to carry It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia on some of its flatter episodes, and he certainly held his own against A-listers like Jason Bateman and Kevin Spacey on Horrible Bosses. In both of those, he clearly channels Charlie Kelly in repeated yelling, general stupidity, and absurd ideologies. Hopefully the writers will take advantage of that and write some funny skits that make use of his talents. So I’m hoping that come Saturday Night, he reaches the bar that Melissa McCarthy set. A link to his promos below.

As seen by the promo, Charlie seen hyperventilating is always good stuff.

6 Memorable Dysfunctional Families

I recently just watched Peep World out of an interest in seeing Michael C. Hall outside of serial killer form. First I’d like to say Hall doesn’t have too much range, because I still got a crazy, serial killer vibe from him as a regular house husband. But seeing the rest of the cast, Rainn Wilson as a loser brother, Sarah Silverman as the bitchy sister, and what looks like John Ralfio from Parks and Recreation as the young ambitious brother that sold out his dysfunctional family’s dirty secrets for profit in the form of a book, it reminded me of other memorable dysfunctional families I’ve seen in movies and television. Peep World had an interesting idea, but the Meyerwitz family wasn’t dysfunctional or colorful enough as it could’ve been. Here’s 6 more dysfunctional families that makes me 10x more thankful for my own. Spoilers below.

Samurai Jack is one of the few Cartoon Network series that I see as entertainment for adults. Had it not been on Cartoon Network, Jack could have been incredibly badass and not only limited to slicing robots. I have compiled deviantarts take on Samurai Jack. Interestingly enough, this could’ve been a character profile for Jack’s Nemesis, Aku. Check out the gallery below.
4 Good Movies with Unlikable Leads
Posted in Lists, Movies, tagged A Clockwork Orange, Alex Delarge, Greenberg, Movies, Squid and the Whale, Taxi Driver, Travis Bickle, TV on October 3, 2011| 2 Comments »

One of the main reason we watch movies is to watch a likable and relatable hero/heroine overcome hardship and trial in the span of two hours. It’s the reason that they’re likable that allows us to sit for two hours of our lives in a chair/couch/what-have-you. On several occasions, I’ve seen movies when the opposite happens and I find myself in a situation: do I sit through 2 hours worth and watch an entire movie with an unlikable protagonist I care nothing about? Some heroes are so unlikable, that I’ve wanted to stop watching a movie because of how difficult to become attached and to care for this particular character. That doesn’t mean the movie isn’t good, it just makes it difficult to follow through, and usually the unlikable character gets some sort of redemption by the end. It’s only when the movie ends as a total drag that I feel pissed off for wasting two hours of my life. Unlikable leads areprevalent in indie films and I honestly probably haven’t seen enough to do this list justice, but I’m gonna damn well try. Anyways, hit the jump to see some characters from good movies that are more than unlikable.
Awesome Oscar Moments

Of all the film award ceremonies, it is well known that the Academy Awards [Oscars] are the most prestigious. It’s great seeing everyone dressing up, everyone acting all excited, and all that award show jazz. As wound up as everyone might seem on film’s most important night, every once in a while, a very cool and memorable moment happens, whether it be an opening monologue or an acceptance speech. A while back I did an MTV Movie Award compilation of awesome moments. Below, I’ve compiled a list of videos of awesome Oscar moments [at least awesome moments when I was alive, I’m sure there’s a lot of awesome moments that spanned from the 30s to now, but I’m just not that dedicated enough to dig deep at the award speech of 1952 that shook the entire industry]. Let me know if I missed any and hit the jump to see the rest.

Top Banana – Alan Tudyk is awesome

If you’ve seen Firely Alan Tudyk is most easily recognized as Walsh, the quirky pilot. In nearly every movie he is in, he usually plays a likable quirkly fellow. Hands down one of the best parts of a movie as horrible as Transformers: Dark of the Moon was Tudyk. And with memorable roles in Dollhouse, Death at a Funeral, and Sunny’s voice in I, Robot, it’s hard to dislike him. Anyways, if you don’t know who he is, educate yourself because he’s got a new movie Tucker and Dale vs. Evil which according to critics, is actually quite good.

Bruised Bananas
Buzz Sugar – Anne Hathaway in a catsuit doesn’t top Pfeiffer’s

AV Club – Movies that justify 3D
3 ‘Biopics’ of Brilliant Minds in Film

If you read the title, I know you’re thinking, ‘wow, just three, this guys has no idea what he’s talking about’. Admittedly, I went to the internet to try and find any more than the three I have here. But everyone else I read on the lists were just geniuses that the stories themselves were not necessarily about them: Doc Brown from Back to the Future, Jimmy Neutron, Revenge of the Nerds etc, etc. I decided against including these geniuses in my list due to the fact that they weren’t technically ‘biopics’, so all we have now are these three movies that completely center around these extremely interesting characters. And I used the quoted ‘Biopics’ because technically one of them isn’t based on a true story. I’ve included the trailer for each of the movies, but it’s hilarious and sad at the same time how they don’t carry the significantly emotional tone each of the films have in the 2 minute preview. 5 Inspiring Messages in Movies that May Not Necessarily Be a Good Idea

Movies are often used as tools to influence their target audience. They have messages that, portrayed through relatable characters, can lead us to believe that by mimicking their actions and beliefs can bring us to a better life, due to seeing the consequences of leading that lifestyle. It’s the simple idea of a the general public being too easily influenced by the media and unfortunately we’re all too influenced by this. I’ve seen unfortunate people devoting themselves to Fight Club thought and Yes Man idea. Here’s a list of some movies whose message might not actually be a good idea.

I tried to hard to find a clip of how Parks and Recreation Season 3 opened with an awesome ‘we’re back’ montage. So I settled for the above promo. As promised, Banana Feed has returned today, a little early than September 12, but this is simply a preliminary thing. You’re regular broadcasting will return Monday. I’m three weeks into school and I’m beginning to feel settled in again, settled enough for me to spend hours on my laptop writing about TV, Movies, and Entertainment News. Now is an absolutely perfect time to get started again with the beginning of Fall TV. If you haven’t noticed, we have a new banner, and an updated picture of Banana Feed’s mascot, Banana Movie Buff [handdrawn by myself]. Anything to keep my fanbase happy with the most aesthetically pleasing visuals. In an attempt to stir up the grand reopening of this site, I’ll try to keep up with current times and post through the weekends for the next two weeks or so. I’m really excited to get started again, let’s make this semester the best.

i haven't seen this movie in forever.

Top Banana

Whoops, I guess I fell a little behind on the banana tree. Please accept this Saturday Banana Tree instead.
The Underworld Series isn’t the biggest nor is it the best franchise out there. The first one was okay. The second one was okay. The third one was pretty bad. So the expectations of this one can’t be too good. But something about the lovable Kate Beckinsale in a spandex leotard just screams ‘Top Banana’ in my head, so here we are. Whether or not this is a smelly byproduct of this generation’s vampire craze, I still find this franchise cool, mindless with the just right dose of macabre fun. How to Fix the Oscars
Posted in Articles, Lists, Movies, tagged Critics, Entertainment, Movies, Oscars, TV on August 17, 2011| 2 Comments »

Watching the Oscars this year was an unfortunate waste of time. Everything was predictable, I was not entertained, and the hosts were lame. It’s easy to say that to improve the Oscars you should make it unpredictable, entertaining, and pick fantastic hosts. But it goes deeper than that. And with Rush Hour director Brett Ratner producing it, the Oscars has a chance to be entertaining again. Just remembering how forgettable the last Oscars was, I’ve looked into the past and looked at some o the most entertaining moments at the Oscars [see my video compilation here] and determined how the Oscars can be the best ceremony once again. 5 Instances of Why Community Deserves some Recognition in this years Emmys

Community was snubbed this year at the Emmy’s Nominations. What a sham. Writing, direction, acting, all of these things about NBC’s Community is Emmy worthy, but nothing. Creator Dan Harmon even commented on how he was shafted by the Emmy’s during this year’s San Diego Comic Con. He hinted at some awesome things he had planned for Season 3 and he firmly believes that he’ll get one some day and I completely agree with him. Below, I’ve listed a couple of reasons why Community shines so much. Hit the jump for the break down.
What My Problem is with People and Rotten Tomatoes
Posted in Articles, tagged Critics, Entertainment, Movies, Rottentomatoes, Tomatometer, TV on August 15, 2011| 1 Comment »

Rotten Tomatoes is a website that compiles the reviews of critics for temporary and historical movies. A simple way of demonstrating whether a movie is good or bad is evident of a movie’s ‘Tomatometer’. On the outside this Tomatometer determines whether a movie is ‘fresh’ or ‘rotten’, and the website’s frequent visitors can use this as a means of creating an opinion of the film without even watching the movie itself. Movies with a 60% and above are considered ‘fresh’ and below 60% are considered ‘rotten’. People sometimes throw this percentage and rating around as if they know how to develop an opinion on a movie. The small misunderstanding in how the percentage works marks an ignorance of how one should review a movie and in this article, I’ll try to defog the misunderstanding so that you can use Rotten Tomatoes in an effective way to help filter what movies you should watch.

There was nothing too big in the news today in terms of the entertainment industry. So I couldn’t come up with a powerful enough top banana or enough links to really support any story. Banana Unpeeled: Captain America: The First Avenger

Captain America: The Last Avenger. This marks the last installment before the full length feature including Hulk, Iron Man, Thor, Hawk Eye, Nick Fury and Black Widow all played by Hollywood’sA-Listers. Whew, that’s a lot of superheroes. Anyways, this feature is the story of Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, whose power is…well, being American. That doesn’t sound too convincing as an entertaining superhero movie. Wait. Maybe this is like one of those superhero movies where it’s more realistic and the hero is believable and Red Skull, the villain, is a menacing grounded mastermind whose ‘Red Skull’ is a metaphor. Oh wait, you’re telling me there are blue lasers, powers of the Gods, and a questionable German Hugo Weaving in a Red Skull…Uhhhh.
Awesome MTV Movie Award Moments

The MTV Movie Awards these days are usually full of nominations that are the dreams of tweens and pre-pubescent Justin Biebers. Beside the Twilight nominations and obvious blockbusters, the list of nominations are unprofessional and corny, including best kiss and other tweeny categories. The winners should be ashamed that they have the fan base with the maturity levels of half developed brains. The awards aren’t the reason I watch this disgusting excuse for a ceremony, but rather the programming interests me. Almost yearly, they come up with a movie mash up with a tickling host that is usually pretty funny. I was reminded of this when I compiled the Lord of the Rings Parody videos here. I’ve compiled a list of videos that display some of the more excellent moments in programming.
