Posts Tagged ‘V for Vendetta’

Even while writing this article, I became confused in whether this would focus on war speeches or just characters talking for a long time.  Then I decided that I could instead do both.  I’ll have an article right now for great monologues, which is defined a speech from one character speaking their thoughts aloud, and I’ll have a separate one for great wartime speeches for another day.  So in the movies you’ll see below, you won’t find the empowering words of William Wallace or Theoden, King of Rohan, but the long speeches that are particularly mesmerizing in their substance and delivery.  This is a very broad topic, so I’d imagine the choices I made could be considered lousy, and that there are more suitable ones.  That’s your job, to find them and prove me wrong.

Remember, Remember the 5th of November…V For Vendetta is a movie spawned by the popular Dark Horse graphic novel.  The main protagonist, V, is an enigma who has anarchist ideologies.  He’s one of my favorite characters on film so I dedicate this character profile to him.  He’s wildly insane, but combines his insanity with dashes of clash and undeniably coherent reason.  I honor of November 5th, I dedicate this post to V.  So come tomorrow, make sure you pop in V for Vendetta and feel a little anarchy, even if it’s just for one day.  Below include photos and videos of his best moments.

Movies are often used as tools to influence their target audience.  They have messages that, portrayed through relatable characters, can lead us to believe that by mimicking their actions and beliefs can bring us to a better life, due to seeing the consequences of leading that lifestyle.  It’s the simple idea of a the general public being too easily influenced by the media and unfortunately we’re all too influenced by this.  I’ve seen unfortunate people devoting themselves to Fight Club thought and Yes Man idea.  Here’s a list of some movies whose message might not actually be a good idea.
