M. Night Shyamalan used to be the master of the movie twist. Everyone knows what happens in the Sixth Sense and I thought Unbreakable was pretty good. But Complex has compiled 50 of the best twists. And while I’m sure M. Night Shyamalan has left his mark, that just means there’s 40 more movies out there that are either better or just as good as his old stuff. There will be no discussion of how he destroyed Avatar: The Last Airbender. Bah-doy-doy, spoilers ahead, so only visit if you think you’re bold enough to have watched the best movies with spoilers. I’m not so bold, but I couldn’t pass the opportunity to test the ambitious.

It would be an interesting debate to see who was first. Pixar’s Carl from Up or this old guy. One clearly influenced the other. Pixar is usually super original, so I like to think this old guy emulated Carl. That would mean either he has super awesome grandkids that told him this and they dressed him….Or this old guy is super alone and he dresses like children’s movie characters to make kid friends….One is a much darker story line than the other.

Margaret McPoyle. You know her from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. She’s the hideous, unibrowed, mute that plagues the gang from It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia with her brothers, Liam and Ryan. She’s not very well known, but she’s definitely known for this character. But the truth of the matter is, behind this scary, perverted, character is actually portrayed by this beautiful, unique looking actress Thesy Surface. Two unique names, a distinct facial structure, and a rockin’ bod, it was impossible to not compile this rather gorgeous gallery.

Alright, despite the fact that E3 2012 isn’t really over yet (at least, I don’t think it is), I’m going to go ahead and write this wrap-up article as the main performances and press conferences are already done with. With a star-studded line-up featuring the regulars such as Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo as well as developers EA and Ubisoft, people were expecting an amazing E3. Feel free to read further to see what I thought of this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo. Continue Reading »

Here’s something you didn’t know about me: I have a Lord of the Rings: Weapons and Warfare book that has diagrams, photos, and concept art on the ‘weapons and warfare’ of the Lord of the Rings Universe. In it, there are things like how certain blades were made, who held them in the past, as well as many other neat facts and trivia for hardcore buffs. But if you don’t feel like visiting a Barnes and Noble [I almost typed Borders, but I don’t see those anymore], or dropping $30+, Squidoo has compiled the swords of the movies with miniature descriptions in them. Enjoy below.

About 2 months ago, I posted a Youtube compilation of Steve Buscemi and his onscreen deaths. Let’s be honest the man has a lot of them. But then I stumbled upon someone else who has quite a number of onscreen deaths. The great Sean Bean, known for his usually evil portrayals, often have him dying at the hands of many protagonists [save a couple of key roles]. This fantastic compilation/tribute to his many deaths differ from Buscemi’s in one major way: it has heart. Buscemi’s was a rough compilation that was jumpy between scenes and lacked flow. This particular video is much more beautiful with it’s wonderful Dead Island Trailer soundtrack that matches perfectly with key moments. Let’s all bow our heads for a moment to honor Bean’s knack of getting killed. Also below, an equally fantastic and emotional trailer to a popular video game Dead Island is posted below. It too makes use of the chilling soundtrack to deliver a powerful and heart wrenching message. Obvious spoilers to Sean Bean movies

My main article following this one will be much more in depth than what you see right now. This is just a short article to get myself into the writing mood and allow my muse to help me get a grasp on things. Anyway, like the article says this will be a short intro to my thoughts and observations about E3 2012. First and foremost, Microsoft. While they had a spectacular opening half, I felt that they kind of dwindled and went too long on the Nike/Sports section. Additionally I think a bigger bang would have been leaving Halo 4 or Gears of War for the ending as opposed to Black Ops 2. Overall Microsoft didn’t wow me in comparison to…say…Ubisoft, Sony or Nintendo. EA and Ubisoft were on point, but I’ll cover that later on in Thursday’s big review. Sony had some amazing exclusives that I definitely can’t wait to get my hands on, and Nintendo brought the same thing they always do. Unfortunately, Nintendo seemed a little lackluster this year as well, with the only thing to catch my eye being Nintendoland and Majora’s Mask, but who doesn’t LOVE Majora’s Mask? Be sure to tune in tomorrow when I give you guys the detailed review and my thoughts about the major press conferences of E3 2012.

With the recent release of Dark Shadows and the released photo of The Lone Ranger, it’s clear Johnny Depp has thing for excessive wardrobe. Just recently, I posted a neat image that superimposes four of his famous portrayals of pictures into one portrait. Buzz Sugar has done a similar thing by posting a gallery of his entire career around his unique wardrobe choices in his movies. Johnny Depp’s always been a crowd favorite for his distinct persona, and may he keep giving us those wacky characters.

The only salvageable piece of television in the deep summer in my opinion is AMC’s Breaking Bad. I’m seeing previews for Teen Wolf, White Collar, etc, etc. But nothing beats the high school chemistry teacher turned meth drug lord drama that has earned best series/actor several years in a row at distinct television award ceremonies. And as the promos for the season finale [which is broken up into two 8 episode runs in 2012 and 2013] are finally surfacing including this really badass shot of Walter White sitting in a lawn chair in his chemical hazmat suit, with boxes of both money and meth behind him. He’s gonna make his heads roll this season. I believe it’s only him and Dexter Morgan who are technically evil people we will gladly root for.
Meanwhile, a Walter White gallery is compiling in my computer. Wait for it.

Artist Robert Salvador has created some hilariously awesome gifs of classic Adam West Batman and Robin running away from various things. I might be too young and bold to say this, but I think this is the age of where actors would run on treadmills and various scenes would be projected behind them. Because clearly those projected scenes have been hilariously converted to this series of gifs. Check out the rest of gallery below with appearances from Star Wars, Jurassic Park, and more!

I’m not a big foreign film buff. I wish I could, because there’s an amazing plethora of fantastic films all ranging from Swedish to Japanese to Chinese. A couple of days ago, I got my hands on a little American-known Korean film: The Good, the Bad, The Weird. It’s an obvious tribute to the 1966 classic starring Clint Eastwood. While it seems like a cheesy ripoff, the film itself is an absolute blast to watch having an amazing combination of dry humor, great action, and compelling leads.

Please think of a movie where Samuel L. Jackson is the lead role that’s made millions and millions of dollars…I’m having a difficult time. Now think of money making franchises that Samuel L. Jackson has had a supporting role in. Star Wars the prequels. Jurassic Park. Kill Bill. The past 5 or so Marvel movies, and then include the actual Avengers movie. We’re talking millions here since the 80s and 90s all the way to now. Entertainment Weekly and I’m entirely sure a large number of other websites have put the numbers together and deemed Mr. Jackson the highest grossing actor. And rightfully so. His movies are making so much bank, and he’s not even the lead character. It has to be something about casting him as a guiding side character that is the key to making a multi-million dollar movie. Definitely.

I first saw this on Facebook as an image Star Trek legend George Tekai shared. The truth and irony rings well in the matter, as here we have a screen shot of Luke Skywalker getting his hands on his first lightsaber. And seeing as how this magical blade can cut limbs and decapitate metal droids, I’m sure this safety hazard should be one of the first things taught in Jedi training.

Alright, so as we’ve seen so far during Microsoft’s E3 conference, they have a heavy hitting lineup that starts off with a very anticipated sequel, Halo 4. From what we’ve seen there’s some Forerunner technology loose, and apparently a USMC ship going down on some foreign planet that just so happens to have the chief on it. Also, there’s a giant metal ball going around killing things. Moving along, we’ve also seen a brand new Splinter Cell game, in which you bring back Sam in an attempt to bring down a world-wide terrorist cell. Additionally, we saw a trailer for a new Gears of War game titled Judgement and a new Forza game, Horizon, which looks sexy as all heck. that’s about all I’ve got for you game junkies today, so I’ll cover more in Wednesday’s article.

It’s finally over. For now. Last night was the season 2 finale of Game of Thrones and boy was it amazing. The episode itself was beautiful and the contrast of set pieces provided an amazing adventure as we traveled nearly all around Westeros wrapping up and cliff hanging every major player. While some resolutions were met, other conflicts continue as we wrapped up the second season. I’ve said this many times before, HBO’s Game of Thrones delivers the story it needs to very well, but many book readers like myself can do nothing else but compare George R.R. Martin’s masterful writing and execution. While the show had an excellent representation of the show, there can’t be nothing else but a small sour taste when some of my favorite and most memorable scenes in the books were watered down here. Read below to get the gist of what happened on the very busy episode of Game of Thrones.

So, in anticipation of Nintendo’s E3 conference, today’s MBO will focus directly on Nintendo’s brand new console, the Wii-U. As we’ve already seen before, it looks to be a miniature tablet. Now, in recently leaked photos of said controller, there were a few changes that were made, most noticeably in the thumbsticks, and how they’re more pronounced in the current iteration of it as opposed to the older prototypes. More than likely this change was to accommodate the heavy gamer archetype of Nintendo’s consumer fan base. Check out the Kotaku article cited below and be sure to get back to us with your thoughts and comments about it.

Keanu Reeves has become a bit of a pop culture icon. Not because all of his movies are awesome or because he’s a paparazzi monster. Mr. Reeves has the most hilarious candid photos. I’m sure you’ve seen his ‘lonely Keanu’ or ‘Keanu Reeves is immortal’ meme. I like to think he’s fairly eccentric, but I’ve read that he’s an incredibly nice person. He gave up a lot of his salary to finish the Matrix movies and he treats his fans incredibly well. But that’s not the focus of this picture here. It’s hilarious that Keanu has created this persona as a ‘Jesus’ like figure. This image cements his powers by looking at his drink. There is a tall wine bottle that is full of water and his glass is seemingly full of wine….MAGIC.
