EDIT**: Found the artist, check out Votric’s Deviant Art Page!

This picture of the Parr family in the future is both awesome and adorable.  How about awesomely adorable.  The Incredibles is probably one of my favorite Pixar movies.  Here we have Bob and Helen, aged and still very in love, but what’s even cooler is how their kids have grown.  Violet seems to have adapted her father’s older costume, Dash seems to have added a little Frozone flair, and then Jack-Jack went traditional.  I want an entire back story to this: Their names, arch nemeses, and how their powers have changed.  And more Frozone.  I’d like to see Frozone’s family as well…Pixar, will you please make Incredibles 2 with this as your inspiration?

Growing up amidst the all encompassing world of modern societal media, it is no surprise that a lifetime of movies depicting everyday life has begun to effect how many of us view our own lives. Sometimes the influences of movies have effects we aren’t even aware of, but are simply embedded in our minds and accepted as fact. I will describe some of these interesting facts below, and illustrate some examples of cinematic misinformation.

Taking Nemo

There’s something soothing about combining the innocence and general happiness of Disney movies and mixing them up with gritty and rather violent movies.  We’ve featured Game of Thrones, Lion King, among many others here before that all feature iconic and lovable Disney characters being lip dubbed to saying brutal and unforgiving things.  Well we’ve got another here that features a much more similar plot line to it’s graphic counterpart.  Taking Nemo features Finding Nemo and Taken in a mixed up trailer.  It’s very fitting considering the similar plots of having children taken away from fathers.  The trailer’s pretty badass and having the contrast of Marlin turning from hesitant father to Neeson-badassery is all around awesome.

There have been countless Bond girls over the years, from Pussy Galore to Mary Goodnight to Strawberry Fields, and the most iconic 007 femme fatale would probably be bikini-clad Ursula Andress, who played Honey Ryder in the first James Bond film, Dr. No, in 1962. See the bodacious ladies who’ve wielded guns, showed off their assets, and bedded Bond for the last 50-plus years!

If all movies followed the same physical laws as the real world, they wouldn’t be a lot of fun — we don’t want action heroes to break their legs every time they jump off a bridge and into the top of a speeding truck, we want them to roll over painlessly and continue with the chase scene (or, alternatively, to explode for no reason).

However, once you’ve established the rules of your movie universe, the only thing we ask is that you follow those rules. Don’t say that your time traveling robot unicorn is powered by ice cream in one scene and blowjobs in the next. That’s just sloppy writing.

LOL, Bruce Wayne might have pulled a dick move here, but he’s pretty right when it comes to telling Lucius Fox off like this.  Essentially what’s happening is that Bruce Wayne is talking about how Lucius destroyed a honing device using cell phones that could’ve been used to find any person based on their voice.  Seeing as how Bane is heard over intercoms and with plenty of sound bites from his football field gig, they possibly could’ve found Bane when they had so much trouble.  Of course, Bruce is gonna be an ass about it.  And it’s hilarious.

We’ve featured Badman before when he faced the Riddler in the face off of the century.  College Humor and Frontpage films have made another one where he takes on Scarecrow.  Scarecrow’s primary defense is his ability to use fear as a weapon.  So when he tries to find out what Batman fears most…well let’s just say he’s in for a surprise.  The video is hilarious and even has a celebrity cameo!  I want more.  With Freeze, Ivy, Catwoman, the whole shebang.

Created by artist sahinduezguen as a part of his vector movie posters gallery, this movie poster captures a minimalist style of Quentin Tarantino’s Resevoir Dogs. Assigning each character to their designated colors, the poster indeed sends a powerful message despite it’s simple look. This is certainly a movie I need to watch again, and I hear Tarantino is juggling either making Kill Bill 3 with Vernita Green’s daughter setting out for revenge against Beatrix Kiddo or a Pulp Fiction/Resevoir Dogs prequel starring the Vega brothers. One if not both of those needs to be created immediately.

Also, be sure to visit sahinduezguen‘s devianta art page!

Judd Apatow is an American film producer, director, writer, and screenwriter. His American film/television production company Apatow Productions pumps out quality comedy with a vengeance. If you aren’t familiar with the name you are definitely familiar with the work. Mr. Apatow has been breathing life into the best comedies of the past decade. He is the wizard of odd, the maestro behind the curtain. I believe Apatow has been the driving factor in revitalizing the comedy genre. Before Judd, R-rated comedies were not big business. The 40-Year-Old Virgin and Knocked Up changed all of that. They changed people’s idea of what a comedy could accomplish. The films Apatow creates are not defined by silly slapstick or outrageous situations. These comedic elements definitely have a role in comedy but Apatow’s works gave us a new, more touching breed. The reason they have been so successful to me is that the characters feel so real. The characters feel like the friends you always wish you had. The dryness and raunchy nature of Apatow’s comedies are what gives them their human tone. Life is messy and pathetic as hell. Judd’s films show us that the unappealing facets of life are what provide the color. Friendship is also a common theme. Every time I see another one of his works I can’t help but smile at all the silly moments that life is going to bring.

The following are the 5 films I believe best represent Apatow’s special brand of comedy: (more…)

Okay, so this isn’t the real audition tape, but it’s pretty damn good.  What we have here is Youtube user Damitsgood808 performing some hilarious comedic impressions, all to the tune of auditioning for the lead role in the movie Drive.  What’s funny is that he uses major pop culture icons as the roles, and his impressions and costumes are dead on.  I don’t know what came first, the SNL version [where they do Back to the Future] or this, but they’re both equally hilarious.  Be sure to check it out as well as his Youtube channel to view more of his impressions for different movies.

Does he shave his beard just for these roles, or does he seriously have that many stock beards….

I will be the first to admit that Lord of the Rings anything makes my heart skip with joy. I love every panoramic scenery shot, every one of Merry and Pippin’s shenanigans, every time Gandalf goes into “serious wizard” mode, and every intimate moment between the Fellowship as they journey throughout Middle Earth. I’ve seen all 12 hours of glorious adventure more times than Sam can say “Mr. Frodo”. It is now my honor to answer some questions and reveal some fun facts about LOTR that I’ve learned along the way!

I’m not huge into politics.  And now that it’s a major election year, being into politics is a really big deal.  I hate that I have to choose from such crazy partisans and that who I do have an opinion for, there are people who exist solely to blast my opinion out of the water with a bombardment of condescending facts that they likely heard once when they flipped through the Fox channel.  Regardless, whenever politics are mashed up with pop culture, I tend to have a stronger love for such things.  Today I compiled a neat gallery of .gifs that compare 2012 Republican Nominee Mitt Romney and Channel 4 Newscaster Brick Tamland.  Political hilarity ensues.

I absolutely love these Pixar shorts.  They’re usually released alongside a major Pixar film, and I love going through all of them every once in a while.  They’re so beautifully made and have such quirky stories.  I’ve compiled some of the more recent [and available] ones on Youtube.  I know I’m mixing Luxo Jr., Tin Toy, and Geri’s Game, Night and Day, among others, but the ones I did compile below are still very cool and adorable to watch.  Enjoy!

This image isn’t even that cool.  Pysch!!!  This is really cool.  But totally geeky.  It just really tickled my fancy because I’ve been crushing a lot of Minecraft lately.  With Aragorn screaming some classic Lord of the Rings lines, Legolas sees the dreaded Creepers, but instead of telling him they’re headed to Isengard, he does on the truly sensical thing: builds a wall of cobblestone.  Brilliant Legolas, but I also think that bow would’ve worked just as well.  Here’s to hoping it’s enchanted.

Here’s a cool video series where the video creator takes a look at Batman villains across time.  Starting with the comic books made in the early 1900s, this series extends all the way into the most recent films.  Above I’ve included Scarecrow, but below there’s also Mr. Freeze and Bane.  I’m surprised the creator never made a video with the Joker or Catwoman…I haven’t had enough Batman in my life recently, so I’m thinking of picking up The Long Halloween or The Killing Joke.

Savages

There are many reviews for Savages available online from critics far more eloquent and accomplished than I. So I wanted to forgo the review and take this opportunity to share the lessons I learned from this wild beast of a film.

But first I can’t resist offering a brief comment regarding my opinion of the movie in the form of a recipe. Savages is three and a half quarts of spectacularly brutal drug trade violence and suspense. Add in two tablespoons of “war on drugs” satire. Take a fresh pinch of Benicio Del Toro psychopath and mix it in with a dab of hilariously corrupt John Travolta. Grind up the lives of 3 people deeply in love before tossing in. Bake the entire concoction for 131 minutes in the Laguna Beach sun. The final dish should entrance, excite, and terrify you. It will be beautiful and haunting. Dare I say it willI be the best dish you’ve sampled this summer. Don’t forget to serve to a chilling Salma Hayek drug kingpin. Or maybe it was don’t forget to serve chilled? Regardless one bite will delight. The sensation is not unlike the tears of joy too many jalapeños bring.

Every movie is a balancing act between making the villain interesting and making them so compelling that we start rooting for them to kill the good guy so that they have an excuse to say something awesome (see The Dark Knight and basically every cinematic depiction of the Joker). We asked you to show us the deleted scenes from great movies that would have tipped the balance too far in favor of the villain.

100 Cheesy Movie Quotes

Sometimes movies truly are just extremely cheesy.  And while they might want to seem deep and profound, it can often be a large amount of cheese.  This video 10 minutes of cheesy quotes.  And especially since these are taken out of context, it can certainly be an eye-roller to hear some of these quotes. What’s really neat is to go through all of them [if you have the time] and if there are any you don’t know, the creator was kind enough to leave the names of all the movies.

Wall-E and Eve have a Robotic Baby

Dawwwwwww, film’s cutest robot couple went and had themselves a baby.  The adorable combination of both rusted and futuristic made for lovable looking baby.  And look he even has a name, E-ric, or probably ‘Eric’.  Unfortunately it doesn’t seem as though Eric will be able to fly, but maybe he’ll learn from his father and make use of the fire extinguisher in space.  I love an idea like this.  The image said it was designed by Artua, but I tried to navigate their site and couldn’t come up with the exact location.  But they do their own fair share of cool stuff.  Be sure to check it out.

That’s because most movies aren’t written that way; the bad guy is just there to create conflict and cool scenes for the hero, regardless of whether there is any logic to it from his own point of view. We’ve already gone over some villains who accidentally saved the day with their own actions. But at least those bad guys screwed up without realizing it. Here are the ones who seem to go out of their way to sabotage their own plans …
