As Korra wrapped up this year, there’s a lot of pop culture still being thrown around and mashed up with the popular Nickelodeon series.  What we have here is artist Tristyn Pease who’s mashed up not only this photo but Korra’s helpful sidekick Naga in traditional Disney animation.  See the mini gallery below and continue checking out her blog below.

My Take

The Silence of the Lambs is absolutely one of my favorite thrillers. Anthony Hopkins gives one the craziest performances I’ve ever seen. Buffalo Bill’s scene also one of the most disturbing scenes I’ve ever seen. Overall it’s a grand slam and fellow Blogger On Life and Stuff was selected for this week’s Weekend Reblog! Congratulations!

Ooooh, this is one of my favorite categories. Before I go on, I apologize for not posting yestarday. I was feeling like a trailer had run over me thanks to a medication allergy. But I’m back, and here we go…

For those who don’t know what the 3 point landing is, the video should be clear.  But in case you need reassurance before you watch the minute long video, it’s when any character, movie, television, or video game, falls from a certain height and conveniently land on both feet and one hand on the ground.  I’m assuming you require your hand to absorb some of the shock from you body so it doesn’t all have to go directly to your poor ankles, and instead can forcibly break your wrist.  But that’s beside the point.

There are two aspects to the 3 point landing.  Clearly.  The landing itself and the just as cliche head raise to look the enemy in the eye.  Check out the video above and then immediately jump from you bed and perform the landing and head raising yourself for maximum pleasure.

I absolutely love posts that combine the categories, “Movies”, “Television”, and “Video Games”.  Cracked has put together a list of 5 awesome fantasies that should only exist in movies, television, and video games that are actually legitimate parks and programs.  Did you ever want to go to Middle Earth?  How about be a spy?  Check out  the article below to see how you can do these things.

The set of Iron Man 3 has released some photos. It looks like it’s the first Marvel to be released after the craze of The Avengers. With one of their first released photos, we see Tony Stark looking upon the many suits he’s made during his trilogy [about to technically be a quadrilogy]. Yahoo! has compiled the back story and appearance of these seven suits in a neat gallery. Be sure to check out the link below.

People have a knack for mashing up the lovable and laughable Disney movies with their polar opposites that include grit, sex, and violence.  Just check out this Game of Thrones trailer mash up I posted a couple of months ago.  Anywho, what we have here is yet another mashup involving some fitting characters of the Disney universe with Robert Rodriguez’s vision of the Frank Miller comic.  What I really love about this trailer is that the colors are isolated much like the actual movie itself, and it made me even realize more how provocative some Disney characters really are…definitely something I didn’t notice when I was a kid.

Moviefone has created a neat gallery of raunchy movie posters in honor of the release of American Reunion.  As I browsed through the gallery, I noticed a lot of the highly sexual innuendos of some very common terms and phrases.  Besides the obvious ‘coming soon’ one, some of the taglines are rather quite clever.  And some are very corny.  What’s your favorite raunchy comedy?  I haven’t seen a truly raunch comedy like American Pie in a long time….Any suggestions?

In a strange twist of artistic creativity, an artist named David (no source on Kotaku) has meshed together the best of both worlds by utilizing the familiar and iconic Adventure Time art style with the characters from the world of Studio Ghibli. It’s a little odd for me to see some of my favorite characters drawn in such a cartoon like fashion, as I grew up watching movies like My Neighbor Totoro and Kiki’s Delivery Service. I’m not one to criticize, especially since I definitely don’t have the ability to draw anything near that well, but the art style just doesn’t really resonate with me. Contrary to popular opinion, I don’t really like Adventure Time, so it figures that I don’t like my favorite fiction characters being transformed into these strange childlike versions of themselves. Anyway, check out the rest of the pictures from the article linked below.

Alex DeLarge from Stanley Kubrick’s A Clockwork Orange is hands down one of the most interesting characters rendered to the screen. Now I’ve never read the book, but I’d imagine Alex DeLarge [or just Alex as I’ve heard he has no last name in the books] is just as insane, maniacal, and almost sympathetic as he’s portrayed in the film.  Let those eyes sink in a moment.  And when you’re done with your staring contest, scroll down the rest of this post to check out the image gallery I’ve posted.  All images were taken from searching Alex DeLarge on Deviant Art.  You can check out that page here and look up your favorite artists.

Very similar to yesterday’s post regarding Mike O’Brien getting famous celebrities to do crazy things in his closet, Zach ‘Alan’ Galifianakis gets famous A-listers to sit down in his garage to talk for a bit.  According to Galifianakis himself, he apparently calls up celebs and asks them to leave their lawyers and guards behind him and sit down with him in a garage to do a short interview.  What happens is that Galifianakis himself becomes a disgusting and awkward host to the unsuspecting celebs which forces them into gleefully uncomfortable situations. Some actors maintain their game face and play along while others get completely upset and storm off.  It’s all staged of course, but that doesn’t take away how awesome both this host and the interviewees are.  I always believed Sean Penn to have a major stick up his ass, but after he did this, I kinda like him a lot better now…even if he did the interview with that persona, you have to admit that agreeing to do this was completely unlike his character.  Check out my favorites below!

Some directors like working with actors so much in one film, that they’ll ask them to be in another one.  And another one.  And another one.  Soon enough they almost look inseparable like the above image where if you weren’t paying attention you might confuse Tim Burton with Sweeny Todd.  Haha, maybe that’s not what it’s like in all cases, but there are certainly a number of pairs of actors and directors that like each other so much, that the number of films they’ve collaborated on [non-sequel] demonstrates that they’re probably more than just co-workers…See a list of several of these pairings below.

Cracked has once again debunked several gaping questions in lovable kids movies.  Yes the Iron Giant was sent to Earth to destroy the planet, but when his iron heart was thawed and Earth was saved, what does that mean for his other Iron Giant friends who were sent to other planets to destroy them?  Will they all come back to Earth and finish the jobs themselves?  In Monster’s Inc.  Boo was gone from her bedroom for an incredibly long time.  Those poor parents who couldn’t find their kid, and when their kid came back and she began blabbering about kittys and Mike Wizowskis, they might have put poor Boo on drugs to calm her hyperactive and likely scarred for life mind….Read more about what Cracked has to say about these movies and more below.

Sometimes movies need to be cut for the final release because of time constraints or test screens.  But this cut can certainly leave out a lot of plot points that are key to the film’s consistency and flow.  Unreality has compiled a list of Directors Cut’s [Versions of the movies that have been recompiled by the vision of the director] that fix what were once thought of as broken and incoherent movies.  Maybe you’ll think twice before you say, “”Check out the link below.

Resevoir Dogs had a simply unforgettable cast.  Steve Buscemi, Harvey Keitel, Tim Roth to simply name a few.  All unforgettable faces in an already unforgettable movie.  But with all single-sex casts, it’s not uncommon to think about their opposite sex counter parts.  There already are a large number of strong women in Quentin Tarantino films that could easily be doubled over to one of his earlier classics, but check out the full opinion of Charisse and her blog.  I don’t particularly agree with all of them [someone truly crazy has to play Mr. Blonde, Angelina Jolie and Noomi Repace couldn’t do it in my opinion], but she hits the nail on the head with choosing people like Melanie Laurent and Katherine Keener.

This is very similar to the Johnny Depp image I posted a week or two ago where his face is meshed into different roles.  What he have here is something slightly different, where we combine three of the most significant movie villains into one image.  It seems these three unforgettable characters all pose in the same, ‘I’ll rip out your own intestines and feed it to you’ type of death stare.  Regardless, maybe it’s more than enough reason to persuade you to watch all three of these movies again.  [For those who don’t know: it’s Alex DeLarge from A Clockwork Orange, The Joker from The Dark Knight, and Tyler Durden from Fight Club].  May these psychos find each other soon and plot to dominate the world.

Well just how absolutely punny is this!?!? I’m sure most of you are familiar with the Christmas song: Walking in a Winter Wonderland.  Mix it up with some celebrity pop culture and here you have Christopher Walken in a winter setting giving off the essence of a wonderland.  Consequently, I recently opened up his IMDB to check out what he’s been in lately and  apparently the man is still very busy.  Not in anything I’ve seen recently, but still at least he’s still doing his goofy voice and walk.  I’m doing his goofy voice as we speak.  Maybe I’ll share that imitation with you all one day…

As many of you already know, LEGO has a knack for turning very serious movies into amazing gaming experiences, from LEGO Star Wars to LEGO Batman, and here’s a little extra from Team Hourglass that you wish you’d be able to get your hands on: LEGO Inception. A very well done and interesting take on the humor of creating a LEGO game based on a more serious movie. Inception as a film was amazing and unparalleled by anything similar during its box office release. LEGO Inception may just be the niche game we need to both indulge ourselves further into the world and get a few cheap laughs from it. Unfortunately it won’t ever be coming out, but it’s nice to see the producer’s effort and dedication come to fruition.

It would be an interesting debate to see who was first.  Pixar’s Carl from Up or this old guy.  One clearly influenced the other.  Pixar is usually super original, so I like to think this old guy emulated Carl.  That would mean either he has super awesome grandkids that told him this and they dressed him….Or this old guy is super alone and he dresses like children’s movie characters to make kid friends….One is a much darker story line than the other.
