The image is subtle.  If you haven’t seen it yet, there is clearly a man who isn’t an Avenger with this series of heroes.  For the ignorant, that man is Nathan Fillion, unofficial Geek God.  To the mainstream, he’s known as Castle, but to the geek underground he will always be Malcolm Reynolds from Joss Whedon series: Firefly and Serenity.  I kinda wish he’d be a bigger deal in Hollywood, but he’s a bit too old for Hollywood to make him a big star.  Photoshopped images are all we’ll get out of him.

Are you fellow gamers ready for Diablo 3? In just 2 more days, one of the most anticipated games of the decade will be released, and many servers will undoubtedly crash in the ensuing chaos and overload of people trying to play the game. Until then, check out these tips and tricks released by the masterminds at Blizzard to help you cope with starting fresh. To those of you who got to play during the Beta, these may or may not be helpful, but to the general public, I recommend that you check these out to get a feel for that super new awesome class you wanted to pick, or to help you solidify which character you want to play.

Game of Thrones is getting a little crazy and is tweaking my interest.  Not the traditional type of crazy or interest tweaking, where there are babies being slain in the street or rat torture devices being strapped to people’s chest, but rather the type of I’m not entirely sure on how to follow what’s going to happen.  Now I’ve read the books and I know all the plot follow ups with last night’s many cliff hangers, but the way they’re executed leaves a sense of interpretation that will genuinely surprise me when I see them seen through.  I suppose this is good to keep the book readers some-what on their toes and the non-book readers a traditional sense of ‘the sh!t is really hitting the roof.’

Overall, last night’s episode was fairly cliffhanging albeit resolutionless.  To me, this season has been extremely resolutionless at many points, primarily because of the way the show jumps around so much that the individual stories will be requiring 8 episodes to finish up.  Regardless, the shows shining moment is the glorious return of Nikolaj Coster-Waldau’s Jaime Lannister after only being seen in episode one.  His classic [even wisdomous] snark replaces the hole felt with a lack of Tyrion and carried much of the show’s heart despite being depicted as one of the more villainous characters.  I’ll get into how he defines the shades of gray Game of Thrones installs in all its characters, Dany’s Dragons, and how little Jon Snow knows in the posts below.  Be free to discuss with me, but keep book spoilers to yourself!

**This symbol means that the following passage adheres to the following: [This doesn’t happen in the book, so I’m thoroughly interested in what will occur].  Trust me, it happened quite a bit this episode.

Finally thirteen year olds (and those with the mentality of thirteen year olds) can rejoice, as the latest game in the Call of Duty series is set to receive a Face Off game mode, in which players can take one another on in sets of 1v1 or 2v2 games. I’m not sure how big of a hit this is, but with the eSports community really picking up and Game Battles becoming a big part of FPS style games, this game mode is sure to see a lot of play time, especially after the angry children asking for 1v1’s when they get agitated to any degree get to play. I don’t know if I will be picking up the latest edition of Call of Duty, or CoD for short, but I’m sure it will be peppered with the same community as have plagued the matches for a long time now. Chances are that I won’t get a chance to pick it up, but hopefully those of you who do will be able to enjoy the games much more so than I have. I think it’s a center for high blood pressure and broken televisions, but that’s just my opinion. Feel free to discuss this latest tidbit of news in the comments, I’d actually like to see what the rest of you think. Thanks!

Spoiler Rules

College Humor recruited some major [eh, maybe I’m exaggerating] television players to discuss the spoiler rules.  We have a two weeks, two months, one year spoiler free card for standard episodes, season finales, and series finales respectively.

If there was ever a way to start off a very promising blockbuster summer, The Avengers was a proper way to do it.  If there are any movie/Marvel skeptics out there, it takes a lot of stubborn ignorance to deny the marvel (Oh lulz I get it!) of what has been accomplished here.  Starting in 2008 as a vague idea that may or may not form came a movie with so much star power and ambition that it was easy to dismiss this as an action-oriented ‘Valentine’s Day’ that had so many A-listers that each one would eventually be fighting for star power and screen time.  Not only this, but there are 60 years of myth-lore and a rabid fan base that had to be dealt with for this movie to be successful.

It’s almost amazing how it all turned out.  In 4 years, Marvel meticulously planned in each of their corresponding movies how they would  set up this behemoth.  Without these previous movies, character development of these famed heroes would be lost.  So after countless infamous post-credit cut scenes in The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor, and Captain America, Joss Whedon delivered what was thought to be the impossible.  A coherent, action-packed, well-written 2 and a half hour ride that perfectly balances its down to Earth heroes and deliciously evil villain despite an ambitiously star-studded cast.  Slight spoilers.

Pop culture is all around us today.  It entertains us with their creative innovation and gimmicks.  What’s to say that these programs and games don’t exist in movie and tv universes.  The link below will get you to another Cracked photoplasty where they’ve taken famous characters and put them in situations we see daily, whether that be watching American Idol or playing their version of Angry Birds.

21 Pieces of Pop Culture from Fictional Universes

There is a far better infographic below created by Cracked to finally settle the score between two beloved franchises.  The article primarily divides the fight between things like Dark Lord vs. hot female companion.  Check out the full thing below.

I’ve posted more than once [Sleeping and Villain Auditions] about how much I really like Jean Dujardin.  Here he is doing another clip for Funny or Die about him advertising cigarettes.  It’s not as funny as the other two, but I still think it worth while.

Welcome to the world of Little BIG Planet

Welcome to this weeks edition of Game of the Week. This Week’s title is Little Big Planet. I will cover the initial game, and will hopefully follow up with another article when I get time to play the sequel. Now, as many of you may or may not know, Little Big Planet, or LBP for short, is an incredibly successful platforming game that revolutionized the way we play games. From its quirky character design to its customizable and hilarious level design, LBP has remained a staple of Playstation 3 gaming since its release back in 2008. It has since then received much praise and great ratings across the board from multiple magazines and websites. The game follows the character known as ‘sack boy’ (or sack girl for the female readers/players), essentially a ‘small, anthropomorphic humanoid creature made of fabric’ to quote the wiki. He goes around the world, developed by the 8 Curators, in order to stop the evil Collector. The story is somewhat lacking in bravado, but it definitely makes up for it with hours of creative level design and sharing across the globe.

There’s something obviously hilarious when Cracked asked it’s readers to photoshop needless censorship on infamous movie scenes.  Below you’ll find a link to the full gallery of 25 images of regular scenes made inappropriate with some clever censorship.

Movie Images with Needless Censorship

After some photomanipulation, Vladimir Manyuhina‘s original image was given a futuristic touch with Marty McFly and his DeLoreon were put into what I remember as the first few minutes of I Am Legend.  The image is cool enough.  Besides all the slapstick and nearly banging his own mother, Marty McFly could’ve gotten himself into a much more dangerous future.  And by the looks of his DeLoreon, he had better find Will Smith fast before he gets eaten by vampires once the sun goes down.

See the original below.

Moving on to Bigger and Better Things.

After ten years, the television station known as G4, formerly known as Tech T.V, will be saying goodbye to long time Attack of the Show host and Kevin ‘Dude Manrod’ Pereira. To honor the likable and witty show host, Attack of the Show will be airing clips from his history with the station until the 31st, when he is slated to leave the show (and quite possibly the network) for good. The second host of the show to leave after gamer pin-up gal Olivia Munn, this leaves questions as to how the show will function without its headliner. As a gamer, I will still avidly support G4 TV and its endeavors (hoping that they remove the cops, cheaters, and campus PD that are so notoriously clogging up my precious viewing time). Anyway, I’ll definitely miss Kevin on the show, but I also look forward to seeing who they get to fill those huge shoes. Candace Bailey and Sara Underwood are amazing, hot, and quirky personalities, but the gaming community is still a male-centered area, and needs a bit more testosterone to relate to (not being offensive, just saying that us guys need someone to look up to is all).

Cracked has broken down 6 friendships in movies that don’t make sense when it comes to why some people develop alliances.  Sure the movie has given some very explicit reasoning as to why two people would work together, but Cracked writers have broken down how their decision was actually rash or faulty.  Check it out below.

6 Unlikely Friendships Developed in Movies

The Toy Shining

This is a really cool mashup of a very serious movie and one of the kiddiest movies out there.  The Toy Shining combines Pixar’s Toy Story and Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining.  Artist Kyle Lambert came up with this visionary combination.  I’ve picked some of my favorites here.  Go visit the rest at Huffington Post.

This leaked a while back, which looks like to have all the stars of Superbad sitting a table what the industry calls a ‘table read’.  The star moment is the awkward sex scene between Michael Cera and Martha MacIsaac as they rehearse their forced sex scene.  Enjoy!

Mass Effect has significantly changed my life when it comes to gaming.  I used to not be such a big video game guy as it took me nearly 5 years to finally get a PS3 after it was released.  Mass Effect 2 was among the first game I got.  While it was difficult to get into, not playing Mass Effect 1 and buying it used so I couldn’t control decisions from the first game,  I managed to eventually persevere through it and get all the correct DLC to get the way I wanted.  By the time Mass Effect 3 came out, I spent 30 hours gaining everyone’s loyalty and etc., I had successfully gotten a fairly perfect Paragon mode with all my crew members.  I spent another 30 hours playing through Mass Effect 3 and my Paragon Male Shepherd chose the synthesis route and I thought I was done and satisfied.

It was interesting that I never truly considered the Renegade route.  Even more astonishing that I never remotely considered a female Shepherd.  And after going through some forums I read some very interesting quotes regarding my decisions: “Anyone who has never played a Female Shepherd should be considered sexist” and “Playing through renegade is a completely different side to the Mass Effect universe”.  I’ve taken these statements into account and decided to knock out two birds with one stone.  So here is my journey as Renegade FemShep.
