This panel marks the beginning of an ongoing comic series that centers around that original series I keep barking mad about. This post also marks the opening of the Black Carnival Page located at the top of this blog. This page will be your home center for all things Black Carnival, including character summaries, panels, concept art, and more. In addition to the concept art I’ve been releasing over the past week or so, I’m hoping this comic is a weekly series, which will release one page a week of the story I have lined up. Of course, this an experimental process, and I can’t promise things when school begins to get out of hand [which I know it will]. Below is a broad summary of the series.
Gillian Akers lived an average and normal life as a security guard for an office. When the mysterious death of her mother triggers a binding will to visit the place where her mother was raised, Gillian takes an adventure to the Black Carnival. This carnival is a place of strange creatures only thought to be fictional, but she finds quickly that the dangers are surely real. Gillian finds herself in between years of conflict, racism, and dirty ambition as she unravels the mysteries of the Black Carnival and her mother’s death.

I’ve tried to the Minecraft Let’s Play thing before, but I’m approaching this one with a little different angle. This first episode is primarily an introduction and tour, but the future episodes I already have cooked up will include more direction and objective completion.

Monsieur Von’Bruelstik is a character from the Black Carnival series.
Monsieur Von’Bruelstik is a necromancer. He is the head of the The Styx, an undead playground dedicated to exploiting the needs of thrill seekers and horror enthusiasts. Normally with a smile on his face, he runs his section of the carnival with an easygoing, but commanding attitude. His responsibilities include maintaining control of some of the more ‘darker’ aspects of his workers and is most knowledgeable in dark magics and spell-theory, assisting in manners that concern those sorts of things. Most of his power comes from the gem in his staff, of which only he and his wife Nava, know how to operate. Together they watch over the Styx from their base, ‘The Yard’, the largest graveyard in the carnival.
Monsieur Von’Bruelstik’s loose attitude make him friendly to get to know and converse with. That being said, he has more than earned the respect of his peers out of fear of what he can become and what he can do when he is crossed.

Christmas has occurred and that always meant gift giving and receiving is a tradition all around the world. In my case, being a 21 year old, some would say that the things you ask your parents for Christmas has drastically changed. Back then, you would ask for video games and books and the like. I’ve asked around my friends and now they’re saying they have asked for nothing or adult things like batteries or utensils.
I don’t have to remind you that I’m a certified geek, but I will remind you that being a geek can mean keeping hobbies that requires the purchasing of memorabilia. So while my friends are asking for furniture or a fancy bottle of spirits, I still haven’t changed 21 years later. I’ve largely asked and received comic books. The volumes and trades I’ll share with you below! Maybe now you’ll see the pun that I’ve infused with the above title.

It has been a while since I’ve posted anything League related, but in May of 2013, I posted my five favorite champions that I like to take on Summoners Rift. Times change, you get better, and patches change EVERYTHING. Which means new champs are fitting the bill in order to successfully getting to that enemy Nexus. So I’m here to tell you the new favorites I like picking in champion select these days and as you’ll be able to tell, it’s become quite different from what it used to be.
If you’re curious of where I’m at the ladder these days, as of late, I’ve been dancing around Silver IV & Silver V.

It’s winter break from my University which means I’m home and have nothing to do. So naturally I watch as much television as can be permitted. My long list of television is ever expanding and I spend more than a normal amount of time trying to shorten it, but if often gets longer and longer. This winter break is a time for shortening the list considerably before I get responsibilities again [ugh, School]. So here’s my list of TV to watch, I often update what I’m watching in my Twitter, so be sure to follow it if you wanna chime in some suggestions as I live tweet these sum-bitches.
Here they are below in no particular order

Mistress Valora is a character from the Black Carnival series.
Valora is half Harpy-half Siren. The Siren half of her makes her gorgeous and elegant, while the Harpy half of her makes her vicious and unforgiving. She is the Head of Customer Services and Satisfaction of the Black Carnival, which includes the Carnival entrance. Her responsibilities include keeping the customers happy and ensuring they’re properly acclimated for the sights they are soon to see. In the darker shade of her job, she is in charge of ‘correction’ and ‘rehabilitation’ of rowdy customers and disturbers of the peace. Valora runs majority of her operations from the Carnival brothel that she owns, The Howling Siren. From there she commands a lethal flock of Harpies, Sirens, and Succubi. She runs the brothel with her reanimated deceased sister, Delilah, and her head of security, Marraine.
Valora will go to great lengths to find the people who cross her. She is a mother eagle, who watches her nest with lethal intention.

To put it lightly, I think I nearly doubled my game library this year. I had a well paying job that allowed me to splurge for myself in ways I really haven’t in the past. With all this new disposable income [insert ‘Thanks Obama’ meme here], I managed to purchase a number of games I’ve never played before in addition to the many incredible releases that came out this year. And as a year ends, it’s pretty obvious that every blogger in the world is going to be coming up with the “Best of 2013” lists. So naturally I’m just doing my duty as another blogger, who doesn’t have the time or wit to come up with something more original.
Truth be told, the number 1 shouldn’t surprise you, it’s pretty much one of the greatest games I’ve ever played, but it might be interesting to see the other games I’ve taken a hand at this past year. If you’re doubting my nerd cred, these games do not take into account the older games that were released in other times that I’ve picked up [These titles include Minecraft, League of Legends, and Shadow the Colossus, Sly Cooper, etc].

For a while now, The Walking Dead franchise has been buzzing like a fly around manure. The cult comic book got a television adaptation that brought the names Rick Grimes & Daryl Dixon to becoming a household name. Unfortunately, the original creator of the characters, Robert Kirkman, still isn’t so much a household name, nor is his glorious comic book. A year ago, two games carrying the franchise name were inevitably released. One revolved around the television show’s original creations, The Dixon brothers, and was critically panned. The other one, which was created by Telltale Games, was more based on the universe created from Kirkman’s comic book and generated an enormous amount of buzz, even gathering several Game of the Year rewards.
So what made the comic book adaptation game better than the television adaptation game? It must be better zombie killing weapons or better graphics right? Wrong. Telltale’s The Walking Dead is much different from any other game I’ve ever played, and it’s one game that I won’t long forget for a long time.
You’re put into the body of Lee Everett, who is a college professor on his way to prison after murdering the man who his wife cheated on with. The zombie apocalypse gives him a second chance when he runs into a young girl, Clementine. Amongst thousands of zombies, untrusting allies, and brutal mercenaries, Lee finds himself doing whatever it takes to protect Clementine.
