As 2014 approaches in less than two days, now is a good as time as any to think about what to expect in the upcoming new year. As with any and all human beings, the new year is a good time to make promises to ourselves and each other. I’ve listed a number of things in particular I’m excited about getting into once the new year hits. Thought I’ve always been under the impression of why exactly wait till new years day when I can start now. So a number of these things are already in progress and I’ve felt that sharing it with you all might inspire you to do the same and really define what you want to you can plan on achieving it.
Cultivating Mass and Being Nutritious
I’m a relatively petite twenty year old Filipino kid, sitting at a cool 125 lbs. So I’ve decided to follow Mac’s life philosophy and gain mass while getting my pump on. Though at the same time, I don’t want to gain mass like Mac did in season seven of Always Sunny. Instead I’m going to try to go a healthier route by staying away from fast food restaurants, drinking less sugary drinks, and working out three or four times a week. The end game is to try and achieve a beefy 140 lbs, which on my 5’5″ frame, would do wonders for future Facebook profile pics in addition to being proud of becoming disciplined with my body.
Getting Inspired and Creating
I love to create. I love writing and drawing, most of you should know that. This year in 2014, I’m going to try and combine my great passions for gaming in addition to my art and writing. 2014 is the year of creation in my books, as I have created a strict week that mandates one creation a day. Whether it be a video capture of a game of League of Legends or sharing a picture I’ve recently drawn or writing an article like this one, I aim to create as much content as I can so I can share my passions with you all.
University and Graduation
Speaking of all this creating content, I’d like to remind all of you that I of course do not do this for a living. I spend most of my days going to the Georgia Institute of Technology studying Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering (trust me, I know it’s a mouthful). Engineering school is definitely one of the tougher programs to take and to succeed [or at least not entirely fail], it requires a lot of work. Even after attending almost four years at the university, some of my study habits could still be improved in order to obtain the grades I think I deserve. So not only am I trying to discipline my body, but also my mind so that I can succeed for the [hopefully] two semesters I have left.
Employment
Speaking of which, being almost graduated, there is the whole ‘getting a job’ thing. I have to fund my hobbies somehow – LOL. What am I going to do with my degree? Find a job that gets me a nice enough apartment, enough to buy comic books, and a television to watch my stories. There isn’t much more I can ask for if I’m given a life like that, well maybe except for…
Enter Player 2?
So there are certainly people all around me getting married [including one very close relative of mine], and it makes me think, these people have known each other X amount of time, which means I have to at least invest that X amount of time before I reach their age at which they got married, which means I have Y amount of time before I find someone. Thinking like this will certainly get you into trouble, but it’s always fun thinking about the future with a possible significant other. I’m sure those of you currently married who are reading this understand how special it can be to fall in love, etc and pity me when I tell you the closest thing I can relate to love is Leslie Knope and Ben Wyatt or JD and Turk. Who knows what will happen this year, maybe I’ll find an Ava Crowder to my Boyd Crowder or a Monica to my Chandler or an Alice Morgan to my John Luther [this last one is probably not the best idea…considering what happened to Alice Morgan’s previous marriage].
That all being said, I’m open to a lot of things happening this year in 2014, so I say I’m going to go for it all and I’ll definitely be keeping you all posted as I go!
