Feel free to drop comments in either the Youtube or this comment section.  Thanks so much everyone!

Hey everyone, my friend FreeBrunch has started a gaming channel and he recorded a gaming session while we played Dying Light.  It’d be awesome if you checked it out and listened to us ramble and die.  A lot.  A lot of rambling and a lot of dying.

hotline miami 1280

You can hear the skull cracking.  This without a doubt is probably the most NSFW piece I’ve drawn to date.  But with Hotline Miami still ringing in my bones, I had to draw something to pay tribute to the high-octane feeling I get when I clear a level.  The game is absolutely brutal, punishing, and ridiculously addictive.

So I drew Corey (who is a girl, which I didn’t know until I started researching her character), who is known for her tumbles.  She bats hard and the goons don’t stand a chance.

Feel free to leave constructive criticism.  I’ve also included a speed drawing for you all to enjoy with a smooth 80s-esque track to get lost in.

rockabilly jinx 1280

It’s been a long time since I drew something and shared it here.  I decided to draw some fan art of my favorite ADC from League of Legends as of light.  She’s got a new skin (Firecracker!) coming out and I’ve decided that she should really get a Rockabilly skin.  Punk hair, tattoos, and revealing clothing.

For her three guns, Rockabilly Jinx is sporting minigun guitar, an RPGC rocket propelling guitar case, and a microphone zapper. Enjoy!

There are many instances of where video game universes are continued as comic books.  I’ve heard only good things from things like The Last of Us’s “American Dreams” and there are plenty of Halo, Assassin’s Creed, and Mass Effect ones that I know people enjoy.  Today I’m giving a special shout out to Injustice: Gods Among Us.  Here’s a comic book that’s based on a fighting video game that’s based on comic book characters who often fight each other.  How weird was that?

This article isn’t as much about the video game itself (which is free for Playstation Plus members this December), but rather a comic book that acts as the prequel to the events of one of the game’s timelines.  DC and comic books in general often operate in alternate realities and the basis of this comic book follows Superman’s descent into becoming the world’s dictator.  The DC universe prides Superman as being incorruptible.  But what happens when the Joker tricks him into murdering his own pregnant wife?

This is how the comic book starts out.  The initial story is lightly treaded on in the video game itself, but the game jumps ahead FIVE years after this event.  In the game all we learn is that Superman has established a dictatorship of the world under the guise of maintaining peace.  There is an underground war against Batman and his thin alliance of other insurgents.  But how did this happen?  How did the heroes line up on each side?  What happened to certain heroes and villains?  The comic book promises to cover all of these and more, making an entertaining and shockingly dark romp.

I’ve picked up only Year 1: Vol. 1 of Injustice.  I’m very excited to read Vol. 2 this January.  Here’s a review.

I had a wonderful time with Season 1 of Telltale’s The Walking Dead.  After so much critical praise, everyone was curious about what the next step was for Telltale.  They ultimately headed in a direction of a lesser known comic book than The Walking Dead called Fables.  Fables is a comic book by Bill Willingham. By the time the series was announced, I had read the first third of the series and fairly enjoyed the story of how society’s beloved story time characters live in a separate society from the rest of the world.  While the series kind of fell off for me, the hype around Telltale’s The Wolf Among Us may have just pulled me back right into the world.  The first episode was released in October 2013 and has gained critical buzz until the first season of the series concluded in July 2014.  It was only this past month when Telltale released the whole 5 episode package on the PS4 and I immediately attacked it.  With my background knowledge on the Fables universe and familiarity with Telltale’s story medium, I thought I was prepared for The Wolf Among Us.  I was wrong.  On so many enjoyable and juicy levels.

Here’s how I was absolutely blown away by The Wolf Among Us and its titular hero: Bigby Wolf

Minimal spoilers, none that would ruin the game.

bigby and snow

I’m 4/5 episodes done with The Wolf Among Us.  I can’t help bringing myself to finishing the 5th episode knowing my time with Bigby will be over soon.  So I stalled even longer with drawing some fan art.  Bigby and Snow’s relationship is something that’s a lot of fun.  The way Bigby dotes on her, but how he is ashamed of his rage and true form is tragic.  I play my Bigby as a very angry man who isn’t hesitant to use violence on anyone standing in his way.  But he also has a heart of gold, willing to help individuals who really need it.  I’ve had a fantastic time with The Wolf Among Us.  I really like being bad, something I couldn’t really bring myself to doing in The Walking Dead with Lee and Clementine.

Here’s some dialogue I kinda ran with it.

“Bigby, we should get this body to the wishing well, before the Mundies find us.”

“Just a little longer Snow…let me…just a little longer”

“…”

“Am I a monster, Snow?”

“…”

“Yeah…that’s what I figured.”

The next piece of video game fan art will be my Herald of Andraste from Dragon Age Inquisition.  Look forward to it!

binding of lazarus

Lazarus was the first player I beat Mom’s Heart with in the Binding Of Isaac: Rebirth for PS4.  I’m really happy this game was free for PS4 this month and I’ve really enjoyed my time with it.  It’s such a subtly perverse game with incredibly (and hilariously) dark moments.  Since playing and beating Mom’s Heart (which I wasn’t even able to see the epilogue because I died immediately after I killed her), I’ve lost 10 times in a row.

I was so happy with this game, I decided to draw up some quick fan art.  Here we have Lazarus with some random monster (one I made up, don’t really think it’s a real one).  I very much adore the art style of this game and it feels like something I would come up with in a horrific nightmare.

sony ps4

In the past two years, I’ve spent an almost upsetting amount of time and money catching up on the greatest of what the last generation of consoles had to offer.  On my PS3, I went into Uncharted territories, explored the BEAUTIFUL world of Ni No Kuni, fought the Reaper threat with a squad of my best fictional friends, assassinated political figures, saved the world by becoming electrifyingly inFamous, became the man in the lighthouse that took me into the worlds of both Bioshock and Bioshock Infinite, thought with Portals, fought my way through the west to get back to my family, slain Colossi beneath their shadows, became the Batman, went on a life changing Journey, slaughtered thousands of gang members and aliens as The Boss in the Saints Row gang, became a father in the zombie apocalypse, and felt a spectrum of emotions through The Last of Us.

I’ve played a lot of games.  In short, when I got my PS3 three years ago, I caught up on gaming greats from all the way back when the last generation first came out.  But my list of games to catch up on has grown incredibly thin.  Sure the list is still there because I haven’t played all the greats such as Heavy Rain and Metal Gear Solid games, but I think I’ve hit a threshold on older games.  I thought it was time for a change.  A time to instead of living the glories of the past, it was time to live the glories of the present.

So in the name of glory, I bought a PS4.

In this episode, we find that if you can’t mine diamonds, make them.  We also fight a wither in preparation for some beacon stuff.  Recorded this a while back, but this might be the last episode for a while.  I’ve made a lot more progress since then, but the server is beginning to suffer more than ‘worth dealing with’ amounts of lag.  Hope you guys enjoyed the series so far and maybe we’ll come back to it one day.

black flag beach
All images owned by Ubisoft

I have played four Assassin’s Creed games, Assassin’s Creed II, Brotherhood, III, and Black Flag.  I have only finished two to completion.  From my experience, a lot of the fun in the Assassin’s Creed games lie in the first half as you explore the universe, grind for the best gear, and have fun killing people in a bunch of ways.  The second half normally falls apart as the present day stuff tries to be more relevant.  The present day stuff is the worst.

After being pretty disappointed with Assassin’s Creed III, I decided to give Black Flag a try after finding it on Amazon for a cheap deal.  All I have to say is that my expectations for this next installment in the series were met exactly how I thought they would be, which honestly isn’t that great of a thing.

Incredible Arcade Miss Fortune concept by Nyaruko

In this game, I wanted try out Arcade Miss Fortune in the updated Summoner’s Rift, but ran into a very big problem when I loaded in. Like 90% of Summoner’s Rift was a black hole and I could only see bushes, towers, champs and minions. We gritted our teeth and let the lights and colors of Arcade Miss Fortune light the way.

This may or may not have to do with playing on a Mac client.

Check out the game I played down below.
