The people at Uproxx [which is a lot of people I might add, they maintain several websites], hilariously came up with how Robert Downey Jr. has created some of the most memorable characters in the past 3-4 years. It’s quite unfortunate that recently, he’s too busy making sequels for these multimillion dollar franchises rather stepping out and creating more characters as unique as Kirk Lazarus or any other of his eccentric and likable characters. The man is highly talented and I can’t wait to see what he comes to do next.

Morning Oatmeal: Collider Compiles the Best

One of my favorite websites, Collider, has created an Oscars of their own and held some of the awarded some very accurate nominations. Hit the link below to view them all. I, and I’m sure I’m not alone, have a couple of disagreements, the biggest as labeling Andy Serkis’s character Caeser from Rise of the Planet of the Apes as a ‘supporting’ character. But simultaneously my credit could be considered a moot point because I honestly haven’t seen EVERY movie on that list. Regardless, I high suggest you check it out.
The Trailer to Every Movie Sequel

WordPress isn’t very kind to embedding videos that aren’t Youtube, so when Youtube/Google doesn’t have it in their format, I’m kinda screwed. So I’ve given you the link to a video the guys at College Humor made that makes fun of the redundancy of the mass amount of sequels we have today. Enjoy!

Collider has found a new trailer for the Avengers that gives us a couple of more glances at what the movie has to offer. Unfortunately it’s still in Russian.
A Movie Poster Breakdown

Making a movie poster is highly scientific. The guys at Oh No They Didn’t broke down the generic layout of every poster and applied it to all the posters like that. It oddly makes sense and is quite the testament to the editor’s observation powers.
Banana Unpeeled DVD Review: 30 Minutes or Less
Posted in Movies, Reviews, tagged Aziz Ansari, Bank Robber, Bomb, Comedy, Danny McBride, Jessie Eisenberg, Movies, Nick Swardson, Pizza, Reviews on November 25, 2011| 1 Comment »

How does a lazy pizza boy and his small Indian school-teacher friend react when they’re forced to rob a bank? Why, they simply go to the closest dollar tree, get some spray paint, some toy guns, ski masks, and go the closest bank that’s how. Forget the hesitation, paranoia, and other basic human emotion and let’s just have them be able to outrun the cops, deal with guns pointed in their faces, and bombs strapped to their chests. That’s where 30 Minutes or Less does wrong, while it provides decent comedy in its leads, it’s not irreverent enough to qualify as the good kind of absurd nor is it believable enough carry the heart it tries to convey.

Best of Funny Or Die

Funny Or Die is a website created and partially maintained by Will Ferrell, Adam McKay and their production company. It serves as a site very similar to CollegeHumor, that serves as an entertainment website for its readers. On occasion CollegeHumor has featured celebrities that contribute to its already popular library. But the up that Funny Or Die has is that it even more frequently utilizes A-listers to make videos that are absolutely hysterical with the 1st class production value. So I’ve compiled some of my favorite videos from Funny or Die below. I’m sure long after this post is done, they will continue to pump out more and more videos. Most of these videos are un-embeddable, so most likely, you’ll have to jump over to Youtube to actually watch them. Rergardless, enjoy below.
Pixar’s Brave Trailer Hits the Web

It’s difficult how to process this. This could easily be another fantastic Pixar hit. Or it could possibly be leaning on the lines of How to Train Your Dragon that was made by Dreamworks Animation a couple of years ago. It was almost too eerily similar. Just trade in scrawny figure for girl and it almost looks and sounds like the same movie. But Pixar usually doesn’t let us down and at least I can say the visuals look great.
7 Mainstream Chinese Movies You Should See If You Haven’t Already

If you’re into foreign films, then you’ve probably stumbled upon a plethora of Chinese movies that are essential for calling yourself a movie buff. But if you’re not into foreign films then you’ve probably never have heard of any of the movies that are on this list. When you saw ‘Chinese Movies’ in the title, you likely probably thought, Jackie Chan, Kung Fu, and subtitles. As stereotypical as it is, most of the movies on this list are memorable for those things. But instead of ignorantly typecasting these movies as “foreign blubbering, sword chucking, Jackie Chan flicks”, think of these movies as films with their own heart, story, and characters. You’ll be pleasantly surprised and will even consider some of these flicks better than some of the crap Hollywood produces today.

Well iTunes has a free [hopefully still by the time this post is published] that explains his methodology in film in response to the 10 year anniversary of his film The Royal Tenenbaums. Even while writing this article, I became confused in whether this would focus on war speeches or just characters talking for a long time. Then I decided that I could instead do both. I’ll have an article right now for great monologues, which is defined a speech from one character speaking their thoughts aloud, and I’ll have a separate one for great wartime speeches for another day. So in the movies you’ll see below, you won’t find the empowering words of William Wallace or Theoden, King of Rohan, but the long speeches that are particularly mesmerizing in their substance and delivery. This is a very broad topic, so I’d imagine the choices I made could be considered lousy, and that there are more suitable ones. That’s your job, to find them and prove me wrong.
Director Filmography Ranked: Martin Scorsese

Martin Scorsese is widely regarded as one of the best directors in the industry today. You don’t need to be a film buff to enjoy most of his work, but if you are, you can appreciate it all the more. He has a large resume of impressive movies ranging from Goodfellas to Gangs of New York. He’s directed some of the most mesmerizing performances from Robert DeNiro and Leonardo DiCaprio. The last Director Filmography Ranked I did was for Christopher Nolan, and like him, it’s incredibly difficult to place one movie in front of another. So I eventually had to base it more off of what I’d rewatch over and over again. Hit the jump for the [very flawed and biased] ranking of the 8 Martin Scorsese movies I’ve seen so far. Be sure to recommend to me any ones I missed. I’ve particularly heard Casino is very good.

My Favorite Comedy and Why: Tropic Thunder
Posted in Articles, Movies, tagged Ben Stiller, Commentary, Director, Jack Black, Movies, Robert Downey Jr, Tropic Thunder, War on November 10, 2011| 3 Comments »
When people ask me what my favorite movie of all time is, I give them a look of stupidity and pretension and then go into an arrogant monologue saying that I’ve seen so many movies that you’d have to divide them up into genres to truly tell you what my favorite from each one. It’s usually at that point where they’re so taken back by my blind arrogance that they default to the only genre they can relate to: comedy.
Lol, jk, that actually doesn’t happen as much as I let on, but what I mean to aim at is when people ask me what my favorite comedy is and more than often I’ll always say Tropic Thunder. Tropic Thunder delivers itself as a comedy in two different ways, based on its audience. To the eyes of a culturally ignorant, Tropic Thunder is decent comedy with its most memorable moment is Jack Black saying he’ll suck Brandon T. Jackson’s dic* if he cuts him down from the tree. Hardee-f*cking-Har. To the eyes of those who have a decent understanding of the Hollywood industry, Tropic Thunder is a pinata full of scathing satire, irreplaceable performances, and deep, well-thoughtout jokes. After the jump lies a breakdown of how this movie literally splits my sides every time I watch it and how moments that might have seemed confusing and irrelevant are actually this movie’s brightest gems.
