This is immensely cool map for anyone living in the United States.  This is very similar to Google maps where you can type in your address and see the stores and stuff around your area.  The best part of this map is the fact that it’s catered to surviving a zombie apocalypse.  The stores you’ll see are your malls, gun shops, police stations, etc.  It’s very creative and awesome map.  Be sure to check your chances if/when the zombie apocalypse comes.

United States of Film

Believe it or not, every state in the United States have a famous film set in that area.  If you’re American born, the first state you checked was you’re own hometown and to see if your film is more significant than others.  I’m Gone With the Wind, fairly significant in my opinion.  North Dakota, a state tormented and made fun of for absolutely nothing happening there happens to have one of the better films: Fargo.  I’m very surprised New Jersey’s isn’t ‘Garden State’.  What’s your state’s film?

And what’re your bets for Alaska and Hawaii.  I’d put the Descendants on Hawaii and as for Alaska…all I can think of is Brother Bear…lol

Welcome to the League

Well folks, it’s that time of the week again. Time for us to once again to dust off our swords and shields, to restring our bows and polish our magic gems, to rise up against the forces of evil or combat the forces of good depending on your alignment. Time for us to clash with other players from all around to world in a test of might, magic, and patience. That’s right, you’ve guessed it, this week’s game of the week is League of Legends, a Multiplayer Online Battle Arena, or MOBA, style game, that has gained considerable and deserved praise for the way it revolutionized…or defined a genre of gaming. Now, that last statement might get me into a heated debate about the first MOBA game of all time. Well I do agree that DotA and HoN are also games of this genre, you’d be hard pressed to find anywhere near the level and sheer size of acclaim this game has gotten in comparison to the others. God, it seems like high schoolers in movies always knew how to throw the best parties.  Or even college students.  And according to this list, there are also 30 year olds that know how to party.  In my opinion, I think the 30 year olds that make this list: Frank the Tank, Billy Madison, etc. are a little creepy, but hey, when you’re funneling beers, I suppose it doesn’t matter who’s holding one end and who’s drinking out the other.

Party Movie Characters to Rage With

Collegehumor has managed to quantify today’s most popular basic cable networks and their likely family member that relates who they are. It’s fairly clever, I would’ve liked to see HBO as a badass older brother or Showtime as your way too slutty cousin. I’ve compiled some of my favorites and be sure to check out the rest of them here.

This is a colorful list that truly represents what the title is.  This list compiles tv characters we love to hate, and I immediately thought Joffrey Baratheon when I saw the title.  Jack Gleeson, the actor who portrays him, truly encapsulated what a little sh!t Joffrey really is, and I feel bad for him to be playing such a hated character.

Free Mass Effect DLC?!

From what I expect to be a move from EA after they received the worst Video Game Company award, they used their most recently popular game Mass Effect 3 to try and win back the hearts of fans with free DLC.  There’s plenty of content to be had here with a plethora of new characters and maps.  I personally can’t wait till I’m able to play with these characters on these new maps, as the multiplayer was beginning to get a little dull and repetitive for me.

If you’ve seen It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, you know the two star crossed lovers, Charlie Kelly and the Waitress.  Turns out real life actors Charlie Day and Mary Elizabeth Ellis who portray them respectively are actually married in real life, which is probably the cause of the comedic chemistry between the two characters.  Honestly, this is one Hollywood Marriage [if you can call it that] that I would always openly root for.  The duo have a credit together where they play an incestuous brother/sister in Reno 911.  Watch above for comedic grossness.

There’s a certain pretenciousness that comes with being a Movie Buff.  We judge others for their lack of interest/ignorance when it comes to the industry.  You always have something to say when someone says they’re excited for the next Transformers movie.  You vomit endless amounts of useless information when someone asks you who that black actor in Die Hard 3 was.  A while back, I did an article about the benefits of being a movie buff, but there are certainly cons that also come with it.  And I request you movie buffs out there to be sure to tone yourself down when you do these things, because even I find them obnoxious from time to time.  And to those I’ve talked to, I’m sorry if I movie douched you in any way.  This list I’ve come up with are the direct experiences with what I’ve done and what I’ve seen others do.  But if you’re with your movie buddies, go buck wild.  So here are ways you can act like a pretentious movie douche.  **Note, this is a very attacking article and very stupid in my opinion.  I mainly wrote it to vent some built up feelings.  Feel my wrath.

As a self-classified geek, I love it when the geeks in movies get the girls.  And so after reading this list, I knew I had to share it with ya’ll. Maybe this will happen to me one day.

Geeks in Movies that Got the Girl

Talk about BA.

Alright, so if you’re hyped up for Vigil Studios’ sequel to bestseller Darksiders, you’re in for what appears to be an incredible treat. Not only have the devs allowed you to wield the power of death himself, but they’ve also allowed you to customize how death kills all the things. With branching skill trees and a slew of weapons with which to beat the evil things that go bump in the night senseless, Kotaku’s latest misleading title cues us in to the level of diversity (which I highly doubt there can be much, but I can be wrong) in which one can customize their character in this GoW-esque hack and slash. Now I for one may not be persuaded to pick it up on launch day as of right now, but with the right shiny things and the promise of endless hours of gameplay I may just change my mind. Unfortunately, with games such as this I find myself skeptical of just how much ‘customization’ one can really do with a character. In the end there are always skills that outshine others and will undoubtedly be maxed out in terms of usability. I won’t say too much more, however, as things could change. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see, won’t we?

Betrayal, heterophobia, and traps were everywhere on this week’s episode of Game of Thrones.  All in all, it was another set up episode  where we’ve been left off on cliffhangers again with just about every character, some more exciting than others.  Tyrion proves his wit again, Dany’s dragons were no where to be seen again, Arya’s got sh!t for luck again, and Jon Snow continues to be punished for doing the morally right thing again.  That’s not saying that this series is getting stale or repetitive, but being a book reader, I can see the reasons why they’re making the characters do or say things in relation to how they’ll act later.  I’m just worried that non-book readers will be finding faults in this show that’s seemingly going no where.

I try and think back and I can’t think of how it could do any more set up than it already has.  Once again, I bid each and every non-book reader to pick up a notebook to jot down names of important people and keep your people in order before it gets even more confusing than it already has.  Or at least have another book reader by your side to clarify some key points, but make sure he’s not a d!ck, because he can easily spoil the entire series for you.  If you haven’t been taking notes/have a book friend, consider me your book friend, as I explain key scenes for you all.

**The double asterik is a remind throughout this summary to visit this passage.

I remind you again, the creators of this show do everything for a reason, so bear with it.  Scenes that are filled with nonsense drabble are actually relevant, so pay attention.  Every conversation, every action, while seemingly meaningless is worth paying attention to.  So bear with it now or else you’d be even more pissed down the road when things happen for no apparent reason.  You’d be wrong, because the creators tried to fit in the context, but you were too ignorant to see the set up in the first place.

And as always, obvious spoilers.

For all of you Mass Effect fans it is time to rejoice! Despite being an idea created by deviantart user lupodirosso, this idea has gained some backing through internet forums and news aggregation sites alike, including Kotaku and Reddit. Though we don’t know how long it will take before people start sporting Wrex or Garrus inspired hoodies, the fact that someone has taken time out of their busy (or not so busy) day to craft these for us means that at least someone, somewhere will definitely want to be paying for something along these lines. Kotaku has already stated that similar designs have been released by BioWare, meaning that these designs could come into production whenever they so choose to hire this man. For now, however, I know that I’ll be sleeping soundly, dreaming of a collection including the very chic and stylish ME hoodies. BioWare TAKE MY MONEY!

One of my scheduled posts is to watch the entire James Bond Anthology for the firs time.  I’ve seen most of the Pierce Brosnan ones and the Daniel Craig ones, and only a sprinkle of Sean Connery’s work.  But it doesn’t take a die hard bond fan to appreciate the mash of all the introductions.  Something that perked up my ears is what one Youtube commenter asking for all the shots to be synced together.  A notion I wouldn’t mind either.

I want to open up a debate today regarding who is today’s most significant director.  Obviously the answer is open ended and very opinion based, ranging from choosing your favorite director based on a favorite movie vs. his style.  But I want to narrow it down by choosing a director who’s currently still making the best movies.  I do appreciate out of the box answers like, Stanley Kubrick and his influence on the style and heavy music moments in Nicholas Winding Refn, and I questions just how movie savvy you are if you can make that connection.  I am not a film major, so the lines aren’t as clear as some of you who are, but that doesn’t mean I can’t have an opinion, so I challenge those who are intimidated by these notions to take a chance and stand by your choice.

In my honest opinion, I think today’s most consistently good director is without a doubt Christopher Nolan.  He’s distinguished himself over and over again with his blockbuster movies that are more than just blind action movies.  I understand that some directors after a big action movie with a production company breathing down their necks would want to take a break and do an artsy and less demanding film, but Christopher Nolan’s break from The Dark Knight was Inception and we both know how amazing that was.  His track record is near flawlesss with Memento and Insomnia as his relatively underappreciated beginnings [neither films got as much attention as they did until Nolan did The Dark Knight].  And he continued to build upon them with the genius of The Prestige.

I also respect him as a private man, who values the magical sense of his movies.  Seriously, no one knew what the hell Inception was about until they sat down at a movie theater and watched Leo break down dream hunting to them.   Now-a-days, he’s become a household name and his name attached to anything warrants the public to go see what he’s up to.  When he wraps up his Batman trilogy, the man will be unrestrained again to do what he likes, and I’ll sure as hell be lining up at the theaters to shell out for whatever he produces.  And I think that mentality is what makes me believe he’s the most significant director out there today, a man who, no matter what the material is about, we line up for because of his name attached to a film.

And now I truly want your opinion.  I know I haven’t really been making a community of Banana Feed recently, leaving comments unreplied or unthanked, and I’m honestly trying to fix that.  These discussion threads are meant to spark debate that I would gladly have with any of you.  Just be sure to observe common courtesy to myself and others on this site.

I made a vow to watch more silent movies after The Artist.  While I haven’t actually done so yet, I’ve made an effort to research the ones I would watch.  Shadowlocked has come up with a tasteful list of movies I would definitely watch.  It’s a completely different culture when it comes to silent movies.  I recognize very few of the titles and I can’t even imagine the style and acting required to make these movies sing.  I’ll get back to you when I finally do accomplish this.
