Dance sequences in TV is quite possibly one of the most mysteriously awesome things.  ESPECIALLY if the show isn’t about dancing.  While dancing in Glee is almost a given, Friends, Seinfeld, Scrubs, and other network sitcoms sometimes treat us with the main characters pulling a dancing routine right out of their asses.  Warming Glow has compiled some of the best sites in Youtube videos.  I almost compiled my own, but it would’ve been so similar to this list, it would’ve looked like I completely copied them.  And I’m trying to cut back on the illegal computer blogging rules.  So here’s the direct link instead.  While It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia makes the cut with their dance themed episode, I think the finale dance for season 7 might make the cut.  The video below the link

I’ve only been marginally impressed with SNL this year.  Melissa McCarthy’s job as hosting provided the most laughs and very likely the season’s high so far.  There were a couple of people who tried their best to bring their A-game, enjoyable veterans like Steve Buscemi and Maya Rudolph provided solid, but slightly stale performances, there have been an extremely terrible show or two like the Lindsay Lohan and Katy Perry episodes.  And it’s a shame because I have a confessed love for the idea and publication of this sketch comedy show, and I’d like to see it shine.  So in response, Warming Glow compiled a glorious list of fresh ideas for hosts that I believe would breathe a positive wind back into the relatively stale show.

7 Ideas for Fantastic SNL Hosts

Also, Sophia Vergara will be hosting this weekend.  So prepare for cleavage…cleavage.  I had nothing else to say.  That’s more than likely the reason I’ll be tuning in.

Nick Offerman aka Ron Fcking Swanson, to me, is an enigma.  He seems to be a comedic hidden gem that has actually graced us many times before, but we deemed him an unimportant extra.  Now he’s very much a household name to the culturally competetant, which makes us grow interested in who he was before he blessed us with one of the best characters of television.  Warming Glow has compiled who he was before Parks and Recreation and I suggest you check out their sweet gallery.

I had a post regarding the amount of leg Angelina Jolie was showing at the Oscars a couple of weeks ago, but I’ve successfully moved that tomorrow with the post regarding the Best Pictures as infographics.  They hardly fit well together, but this is waaaaay more important than any Oscar related news. E!’s The Soup, hosted by Joel McHale plans to shows this swag as hell trailer regarding Community’s awesome return.

I got goosebumps. I got chills. I may have cried. Evil Abed returns. Dreamatorium. My god, the best thing to happen to television returns and it looks as GODLY as ever.

[Update] Hopefully the continual playing stops as does the continual updating.  I’m sorry for the inconvenience.  Please let me know if a situation still arises.

USDIRECT.com created this sweet boardgame that pitches the study group against each other for priority registration.  Roll the dice and battle through hilarious trivia, references, and jokes in a Candyland-esque fashion as you make way for priority registration.  Check below for the entire image as well as click on it to get a full version.  You may want to save this to print out later for an actual board game.  TV kudos to anyone who actually does this.

In other Community news: Community is reschedule to come back March 15th at 8:00 pm.  Unfortunately this pitches it up against Thursday night powerhouse Big Bang Theory, but in the state of NBC, I’m sure it will remain one of the stronger candidates for renewel.

In other, other Community news: I recently watched The Descendants [wait for my review next week along with Hugo], and I saw Jim Rash aka Dean Pelton was one of the main accredited writers.  I would love to see a Jim Rash acceptance speech, but not over a Kristen Wiig acceptance speech.  But in all honesty I would just love it if any of those two showed up and held one of those statues.

Can this adorable, beautiful, hipster pull off comedy?  Sure she’s got the indie-weirdo down, but what about sketch comedy.  I personally don’t think so.  She should stick to what her typecast scripted shtick, but the SNL writers are gonna go in one of 2 directions.  Make the entire show fit her personality [which they should do every show, but not ever host is able to keep up with that], or stick her in copy and paste characters that make the actual castmates do their redundant and tired out sketches [black musicians by Kenan Thompson get very old, very fast].  I don’t think Deschanel’s ballsy enough to carry the weight.  But like with last week, I was fairly surprised at Channing Tatum’s effort, which makes me actually reconsider him as a meat head.  Too early to call, but based on the promo….well.  Gyah…

The superbowl was last weekend, and I know I didn’t do much to hype it up.  By hyping it up, I meant talking about commercials and the sneak previews for movies coming down the tube.  Here we have the gracious network host of the Superbowl, NBC, promoting themselves during this time of absurd viewership.

I wrote the following message on the facebook wall of a friend who promoted this clip for Community’s likely return:

NBC is quite the disaster. They put all their eggs in that commercial. And it’s still an ugly looking basket. The last place major network uses its lucky break aka the Superbowl to promote everything it had to offer. Which probably only includes NBC Comedy Thursday and maybe SNL in my opinion. Whitney and Chelsea Handler be damned and all the other TV shows that I and America didn’t recognize. #Sixseasonsandamovie

I’m mainly upset for the whole ‘let’s put Community on hiatus’ deal, but let’s honest.  Besides NBC Thursday night comedy and possibly SNL, I, as a decent representation of what the 18-25 demographic of an average American, do not recognize nor do I care about any of those shows.  Their dramas easily lose out to other big networks like Fox and ABC, and even a smaller network like F/X has some seriously formidable programs.  Soak up your fame as you had it NBC, as the boycott on your network continues as long as Whitney and that Chelsea Handler show lives and Community remains on hiatus.

Save Community Campaign

As most of you should know, NBC has made the stupid decision to take Community out of its Midseason line up in favor for saving Whitney and making room for 30 Rock.  I’m one of millions of enraged fans that can’t believe this nonsense.  The internet has gone up in arms in campaigning for its return.  And I admit that they’ve gotten pretty clever at it.  Here’s one of three photos that are quite hilarious.  The rest after the jump.

On a string of seeming misfires, SNL hosts have disappointed since the pinnacle of Melissa McCarthy’s debut host in the second episode.  Charlie Day was misused and Emma Stone was game, but wasn’t provided enough  material to make the best of it.  Most people would throw in the towel, but I’m still gonna keep hoping they come up with a new winner.  And Jason Segel’s first time hosting has potential, as Segel is a very funny guy.  Once again, it’s up to the writer’s to come up with new sketches with new characters that fit their host.  Not cookie cutter characters that anyone could step their feet in.  Anyways, I look forward to it, and I can only hope Amy Adams drops by to help promote the Muppets movie.  Because I love Amy Adams.  A link to his promos below.

ABC and NBC currently have a rivalry in the adult fairy tale with Once Upon a Time and Grimm, respectively.  And now there are two live action Snow Whites currently in production.  Now I’m not currently watching either of these shows nor do I plan to watch any of these movies, so if you guys have any opinions on the matter let me know.  I stumbled [not through the web application, but actually came upon it on my own] across this list of fairy tales that have their target demographic as adults.  So check out the list in the link I have below and let me know your thoughts.

Last week, I expressed my excitement to having Charlie Day host SNL.  While it wasn’t absolutely as atrocious as Anna Faris’s work, [Danny DeVito’s cameo was especially delicious] it wasn’t exactly what I hoped for.  He was simply another cut and paste host that had no real memorable sketches [except maybe the Seinfeld one, that one was pleasantly surprising].  So here I am promoting this week’s host Emma Stone.  When I saw her last year, she didn’t particularly wow me by any means, but maybe she can rally.  She’s an extremely talented actress who has no qualms about taking a few jabs herself.  My ultimate dream is that Jim Carrey cameos [and in the future hosts, his show was fairly decent] to talk about the whole, ‘I love Emma Stone’ deal.  Below is Jim Carrey’s creepy message and a link Stone’s promos.

A couple of days ago, my Facebook exploded with people talking about Childish Gambino’s new album hitting the internet.  If you don’t already know who Childish Gambino is, maybe you’re more familiar with Troy from Community.  I did a post regarding how amazing I felt when I learned Troy was a bonafide rapper.  I immediately became a fan of his work and am one of millions who await his long awaited new album, Camp.  He’s already released one single on iTunes, Bonfire, that has a video posted below.  But now NPR has a full album on stream for anyone interested.  I’ve listened to almost all 56 minutes and am absolutely in love with it.  I suggest you do the same.  The link is below.

As most of you know, Anna Faris’s last hosting gig at SNL was a complete blunder.  It was ill-prepared, poorly written, and extremely unfunny.  However, NBC has released it’s line up of the next few guests: Charlie Day, Emma Stone, and Jason Segal.  This is an impressive and talented line up and I’m very excited about what they bring come Saturday Night.  Day and Segal are first timers and this will be Stone’s second time.

So this weekend has Horrible Bosses and It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia star Charlie Day as host, and I have high expectations.  More than often Day has had to carry It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia on some of its flatter episodes, and he certainly held his own against A-listers like Jason Bateman and Kevin Spacey on Horrible Bosses.  In both of those, he clearly channels Charlie Kelly in repeated yelling, general stupidity, and absurd ideologies.  Hopefully the writers will take advantage of that and write some funny skits that make use of his talents.  So I’m hoping that come Saturday Night, he reaches the bar that Melissa McCarthy set.  A link to his promos below.

Freaks and Geeks

We’re back!  I have emerged alive from Georgia Tech’s most recent blow to my brain: 3 tests in one week – Organic Chemistry 2, Differential Equations, and Chemical Engineering.  I was mentally fried and far too stressed to write articles about SO MANY THINGS that have happened in the past 2 weeks or so.  Stay tuned for tons of new posts!  I’ll be sure to post through the weekends to make up for the last few weeks of hiatus.  Now let’s get to the topic at hand.

If you watch Community, then you know who Troy Barnes is.  He is played by actor Donald Glover, who actually has a rap alias named Childish Gambino.  If you’ve ever listened to his stuff, you’ll know how sick a rapper he is.  People have compared him to a combination of Drake and Lil’ Wayne, but I think he’s in a category all in his own.  His rap is actually better than a lot of other rap.  You can listen to any of his songs a dozen times or more and you’ll still find yourself catching new meaning to his lyrics.  So when he says ‘I got some pu**y that insane, so insane, it’s an enemy of Batman’ or ‘I’m a beast bitch, Grrr, Invader Zim’ or ‘I’m heading west like I’m f***ing blowing Kanye’, that means you’re picking up on the hundreds of pop cultural references in his raps.  Seriously, if you’re not listening to him now, start.  All his music used to be free, but now he’s signed to a label and you can see him on itunes.  This posts compiles a couple of videos from Youtube of my favorite songs from him.  Visit his website at iamdonald.com

One of the biggest things I’m upset about is the Emmy snub targeted by Nick Offerman, who plays Leslie Knopes boss, Ron Swanson, on NBC”s Parks and Recreation.  One of Parks and Recreation‘s characters that carries more comedic luggage, Offerman’s Ron Swanson is most deserving of recognition besides the already nominated.  Aziz Ansari’s Tom Haverford is funny and clever, but Offerman’s perfect timing and dead-pan delivery usually is more satisfying than some of the sometimes-funny squabble Ansari says.  So I’ve compiled some awesome things and hilarious moments featuring TV’s best mustached figure in honor of this horrendous crime.  Enjoy.

Community was snubbed this year at the Emmy’s Nominations.  What a sham.  Writing, direction, acting, all of these things about NBC’s Community is Emmy worthy, but nothing.  Creator Dan Harmon even commented on how he was shafted by the Emmy’s during this year’s San Diego Comic Con.  He hinted at some awesome things he had planned for Season 3 and he firmly believes that he’ll get one some day and I completely agree with him.  Below, I’ve listed a couple of reasons why Community shines so much.   Hit the jump for the break down.
