Weekend Funnies: 7.13.2012

If there’s anything Weekend Funnies have taught me, is that not everyone has the same sense of humor.  But the internet is a generally a collection of everyone and the sheer compilation of the wit and humor that each individual contributes essentially represents the most broadest and generalist appeals to mankind.  So when I choose the 24 images for each Weekend Funny, I know the reason I think it’s funny will be at least funny to some percentage of the world.  And even if the it’s the smallest 1%, 1% of 7 billion is still 700 million.  So I apologize if you’re offended, disgusted, or upset.  Truth be told, if you can’t handle these 24 images, you likely shouldn’t be on the internet anyways.  So stop worrying about racism, sexism, and other means of being upset.  Just keep scrolling, and remember: no one’s looking, it’s okay to smile at something someone would frown upon.

Editors Note: Why is it on Friday?  Because I couldn’t finish Friday’s article.  It’s a doozey.  A 2000 word plus article.  I’ll have it published by Saturday!  Thanks for bearing with me guys.

Louie, Louie, Loiue, Louieeeee! – A Louie Review

I’ve finally caught up with FX’s Louie to season 3 and there are a lot of feelings.  Louie is not your traditional comedy.  It doesn’t play by the rules of other sitcoms.  The lead character is probably on the bottom of the tv totem poll of lead characters in terms of looks or glamour.  There is no useless eye candy of a character to buy in its viewers.  The jokes aren’t as obvious.  And the it’s definitely one of the harder shows to watch on regular programming.  But while these things are often used as a means to berate any given show, these are actually Louie’s strengths.

Louis C.K. the creator and star of the show says that this show of his is set around 5 years before he claims to ‘have made it big’, when he was a semi-struggling comic tasked with raising his kids from a joint custody divorce.  He’s overweight, balding, and is awkward in social situations.  His life has its ups and downs [mostly downs], but Louie seems to have a certain…’code’ he lives to.  And when the absurdities of society humanity try to warp and influence his code, he’s put in a fixed position: conform or defy.  Much of the optimism in a relatively dark show is displayed through these moments when Louis stays true to himself, but one of the show’s [few] problems is that it takes so long to get there, it’s difficult to stay along for the ride to wait for the punchline [which is ironically no punchline in some cases].  All in all, Louie boils down to many hard truths that are difficult to hear, but resonate with profound meaning…all while making us laugh at some of the situations he’s put into.  Check out my review and some of the highlights of what is definitely one of the smarter TV shows on air right now.

Kevin Bacon Endorses Kevin Bacon…and Logitech

Does this make Kevin Bacon any more awesome than he already is?  This video we’ve got here is Kevin Bacon starring in a commercial as a Kevin Bacon fanatic.  This raises more questions than it solves: 1) Where in the hell did all of this Kevin Bacon merchandise come from and where can I get it? 2) How do you pitch something like this to any actor? 3) Why the hell did they choose Kevin Bacon?  Haha, regardless, I think he’s absolutely awesome for doing this.

And I love at the end they squish in the reason they made this advertisement: Logitech.  I almost considered buying something Logitech until Kevin Bacon starting talking again about how if he watched any more Kevin Bacon, he might become him.  *Crosses fingers.

Shepherd Wants to Bang: Gamer Poop

Machinima is known for taking video games and cutting them in different ways to produce humorous and creative results.  Gamer Poop is a division of Machinima that takes the cutscenes of video games and then cuts them together for lewd and crude conversations.  In honor of Mass Effect 3 releasing more free DLC, here are some fairly hilarious videos of Shepherd being in love too much with women and steak.  Due to it’s popularity, they’ve created even more videos and they can be seen below.

Universidaze is On Break This Week

It’s probably more poor planning that it is the excuse I’m going to give.  But I wasn’t able to finish this week’s comic primarily because my Bamboo Tablet is on the fritz and when the tablet is on the fritz, then no new comics can be made.  I’m sorry for the inconvenience.  Sure I tried to do it the night before, and simply giving up is a lot worse than trying to at least troubleshoot it, but I said, what the heck, readers can stand one break.

As a poorly kept promise, I’ll try to come up with two comics next week or release this week’s would be comic to be this Sunday’s Sketch.  Thanks for hanging together with us.

Zach Galifianakis in His Garage: Between 2 Ferns

Very similar to yesterday’s post regarding Mike O’Brien getting famous celebrities to do crazy things in his closet, Zach ‘Alan’ Galifianakis gets famous A-listers to sit down in his garage to talk for a bit.  According to Galifianakis himself, he apparently calls up celebs and asks them to leave their lawyers and guards behind him and sit down with him in a garage to do a short interview.  What happens is that Galifianakis himself becomes a disgusting and awkward host to the unsuspecting celebs which forces them into gleefully uncomfortable situations. Some actors maintain their game face and play along while others get completely upset and storm off.  It’s all staged of course, but that doesn’t take away how awesome both this host and the interviewees are.  I always believed Sean Penn to have a major stick up his ass, but after he did this, I kinda like him a lot better now…even if he did the interview with that persona, you have to admit that agreeing to do this was completely unlike his character.  Check out my favorites below!

The Gang Fcks Up

I absolutely love gag reels.  Gag reels show actors how they break character on all the hilarious lines that make it into the final.  As I watch these clips, I try to not break character myself and not laugh, because I find that if I do, it’s much more gratifying.  So I’ve compiled here some of my favorite gag reels from one of the best comedies on air: It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia.  A college age and above appropriate comedy centers around 5 selfish adults and how far they’ll go to get what they want.  I can’t possibly explain to you how much I love this show in this gag reel compilation, so I’m targeting the already It’s Always Sunny Fans to watch the gag reels from seasons 2-6 I’ve compiled below.
