As most of you should know, NBC has made the stupid decision to take Community out of its Midseason line up in favor for saving Whitney and making room for 30 Rock. I’m one of millions of enraged fans that can’t believe this nonsense. The internet has gone up in arms in campaigning for its return. And I admit that they’ve gotten pretty clever at it. Here’s one of three photos that are quite hilarious. The rest after the jump.
Charming/adorable, they’re all pretty much the same word and they sum up the outlook of every character on this list. By using the word ‘infectiously charming’ I mean that they’re actions/philosophy in life can only bring smiles on our faces, regardless of how naive or misguided they may be. On this list, you’ll find 5 characters who represent the pinnacle of adorableness.
A couple of days ago, my Facebook exploded with people talking about Childish Gambino’s new album hitting the internet. If you don’t already know who Childish Gambino is, maybe you’re more familiar with Troy from Community. I did a post regarding how amazing I felt when I learned Troy was a bonafide rapper. I immediately became a fan of his work and am one of millions who await his long awaited new album, Camp. He’s already released one single on iTunes, Bonfire, that has a video posted below. But now NPR has a full album on stream for anyone interested. I’ve listened to almost all 56 minutes and am absolutely in love with it. I suggest you do the same. The link is below.
Marvel’s ambitious and star powered movie, The Avengers, released it’s first trailer this week. The film include Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremey Renner, and Samuel L. Jackson. Directed by Joss Whedon [Firefly, Buffy], I have high hopes for this. Usually when movies are stuffed with too many stars, some can compete for the spotlight, and with this being an action movie, it’s easy for the writing to take the backseat. By no means will this movie be a flop, what’s questionable is whether or not it will be any good. Anywho, watch the trailer above and hit the links for more info on the Avengers.
I wasn’t able to comment on how the season [and series] opening of the television show’s I’ve been watching. In all honesty, each opening could have it’s own article dedicated to them [those will be saved for a later date], but in essence of time, consider this a check up commenting on how strong each series is so far, and where they can improve. This is a good time for a check up because one cannot judge how well the series will do this season based on the opener, but rather the follow up episodes that will likely be more closer to setting the mood of the entire season run. Hit the jump to see if you agree. Spoilers ahead, watch your step.
We’re back! I have emerged alive from Georgia Tech’s most recent blow to my brain: 3 tests in one week – Organic Chemistry 2, Differential Equations, and Chemical Engineering. I was mentally fried and far too stressed to write articles about SO MANY THINGS that have happened in the past 2 weeks or so. Stay tuned for tons of new posts! I’ll be sure to post through the weekends to make up for the last few weeks of hiatus. Now let’s get to the topic at hand.
If you watch Community, then you know who Troy Barnes is. He is played by actor Donald Glover, who actually has a rap alias named Childish Gambino. If you’ve ever listened to his stuff, you’ll know how sick a rapper he is. People have compared him to a combination of Drake and Lil’ Wayne, but I think he’s in a category all in his own. His rap is actually better than a lot of other rap. You can listen to any of his songs a dozen times or more and you’ll still find yourself catching new meaning to his lyrics. So when he says ‘I got some pu**y that insane, so insane, it’s an enemy of Batman’ or ‘I’m a beast bitch, Grrr, Invader Zim’ or ‘I’m heading west like I’m f***ing blowing Kanye’, that means you’re picking up on the hundreds of pop cultural references in his raps. Seriously, if you’re not listening to him now, start. All his music used to be free, but now he’s signed to a label and you can see him on itunes. This posts compiles a couple of videos from Youtube of my favorite songs from him. Visit his website at iamdonald.com
Fall TV is the most exciting thing to happen to me this year. It was only early this year I discovered the wonders of Television. I’d hate to say it, but TV just might be getting an edge on film in the heated debate within my head. We’re not going to get into that right now, maybe on a rainy day and I want to write a 3,000 word essay. Anyways, back to the excitement of Fall TV. Everyone is expecting new shows and old shows to return and the marketing team’s best way to attract new and old fanbases is of course the promos. Below, I’ve compiled a list of videos of instances where the marketing team has succeeded and I will watch the season opening. Let me know if I missed anything you’re going to watch.
Community was snubbed this year at the Emmy’s Nominations. What a sham. Writing, direction, acting, all of these things about NBC’s Community is Emmy worthy, but nothing. Creator Dan Harmon even commented on how he was shafted by the Emmy’s during this year’s San Diego Comic Con. He hinted at some awesome things he had planned for Season 3 and he firmly believes that he’ll get one some day and I completely agree with him. Below, I’ve listed a couple of reasons why Community shines so much. Hit the jump for the break down.
