This week will not have a Sunday Sketch or Universidaze comic due to my own stupidity. This week is my University’s Spring Break, and I’ve decided to go home. I was really happy at the idea that I could spend an entire week drawing, but alas, I brought the tablet and pen…but not the cord that connects the tablet to my computer. Stupidity. Anywho, I apologize for the inconvenience. Articles will continue as usual. There’s a very big chance that next week’s Sunday will lack a sketch, but I promise to make it up to you all. My drawings will more likely return March 28th with the week’s Universidaze sketch.
The people at Movie Fone have compiled some young Oscar nominated actresses and made a graphic of their Win/Lose ratio. This is apparently supposed to tell us who the most talented is. And by the numbers, we see that Kate winslet (6 wins, 3 snubs) is the most nominated, but Salma Hayek (1 win, 0 snubs) has the best ratio. According to some of the other graphics, Kate Winslet has the most oscar Worthy nominations. Anywho, check it out for yourself below.
The funny and awesome people at Uproxx have compiled this awesome gallery of famous rappers/celebrities doing absolutely normal things. I’ve chosen my favorites and the whole gallery is here. As usual, Beyonce is beautiful.
I don’t take credit for this image, nor do I know who originally made it, but if this didn’t blow your mind the first time, please read it again to try and fully understand it. It took me a while to fully grasp it and the whole ‘Deathly Hallows’ symbol in the background really didn’t kick in until the last minute. But in all honesty, I was blown away with this revelation. The forum where I got this from sparked a huge debate whether Dumbledore is the one who died for a love one and not Snape. I’m not going to get into the details because it gets pretty hairy between Rowling interpretations. But I don’t care who you put in there, because two concrete selections out of three is more than enough to completely blow my mind. So imma let you guys soak it in a little more and then you can start freaking out as much as I did.
Dexter Morgan is an everyday man. He works at Miami Metro Homicide, brings donuts for his co workers and has a very normal girlfriend. Behind this mask of normalcy, Morgan also goes out at night and works as a serial vigilante, hunting down criminals who escape the justice system, lays them on a kill table, lines the rooms with his victims, and eventually cuts their throat/stabs their heart/what-have-you. Clearly disturbed and borderline insane, he has a strict moral code that dictates how he lives his life. For nearly 7 seasons now on Showtime, we’ve watched Dexter grow from a cold hearted killer to not-so-cold-hearted killer, and we’ve loved every minute of it. So I’ve compiled a gallery and bio for TV’s favorite serial killer. More below. In addition to SPOILERS.
As a deviant artist myself, I’ve developed respect for the artists that I’ve ‘stolen’ these images from. As a result, I’ve added a link to each artist [a painstaking procedure] in an attempt for them to get their support by viewing their pages. Please be sure to do so. Especially artist Patrick Brown who the first 4 images belong to. His work is phenomenal and he deserves your attention.
There are a lot of lists that include the best movies ever. Each list has its own personality and every movie on it has its own credibility and worthwhile aspects to be watched. So if you ever wanna burn through 100 movies. As for me…I’m at 64/100. If you’re lower than me, you have work to do. If you’re higher than me, movie film points for you.
He’s not necessarily a household name and is often known for playing douchey Jeremy Piven type characters, but Sam Rockwell can hold his own when it comes to acting. People usually recognize him as Iron Man’s whiny enemy in Iron Man 2 or the Drew Barrymore’s crazy boyfriend [not Tom Green] in Charlie’s Angel, but I know him best for his memorizing performance in Moon and even the extra on Galaxy Quest. He’s done a lot of supporting character work, but uploader aeide13 has hilariously compiled a series of clips from all his movies where he DANCES. And sonuvvabitch, he’s a pretty good dancer. In movies that have nothing to do with dancing like Iron Man, Moon, and Charlie’s Angel, he always fits in a dance. The video is hilarious and I highly suggest you see some of his other work [Moon, watch Moon. Please watch Moon. It’s really awesome.]
Nick Offerman aka Ron Fcking Swanson, to me, is an enigma. He seems to be a comedic hidden gem that has actually graced us many times before, but we deemed him an unimportant extra. Now he’s very much a household name to the culturally competetant, which makes us grow interested in who he was before he blessed us with one of the best characters of television. Warming Glow has compiled who he was before Parks and Recreation and I suggest you check out their sweet gallery.
The Chive has created this awesome graphic giving you reasons to not take his daughter. With Taken 2 coming around the bend and the original Taken not being horrible, there’s decent reason to start getting excited. The graphic below gives you lessons based on Neeson’s career as to why taking his daughter is a horrible idea. My favorite: He Trained Batman
Pixar has a knack for creating some of the most lovable animated characters to ever hit the screen. They’ve done more than 10 movies where each of them has at least 2 or 3 likable/lovable characters. So I’ve made a list of my 5 favorites below.
An odd title, yes, that’s why it grabbed my attention when I came across this. This list literally has ten movies where there is a creepy ‘stare’ scene that simply grabs our attention and doesn’t let us go. Hit the link and see if you can win a staring contest with these pros.
[EDIT] This video is making serious beefs with my format. The youtube version was cut for copyright and the one I tried to embed is making my format lose all common sense. Until I find another version, I refer you to the link. I apologize for the inconvenience.
I recently watched The Chappelle Show for laughs and giggles. First off, it was probably one of the more controversial and groundbreaking shows of its time and inspired a heinous string of followers: Mind of Mencia, etc. Regardless, the show had a couple of sketches that I dropped my jaw when I saw. In the clip above is the beautiful tropical fish, Ann Perkins, as an extra who had been reduced to doing seedy yet hilarious sketches like this before her Parks and Recreation days. Not too groundbreaking, yes, but I think it’s fun to see actors ‘paying their dues’ before they make it big. I’m sure she cringes every time someone references this.
Dialogue is the writer’s way to speak the characters soul in a movie. It relays personality, interests, priorities, and values that we come to love about our favorite movie characters. Too much of it however, can be a bad thing. Not in all cases, but most people don’t like people who have an infinite battery source on the chatterbox. The ramblings of a disillusioned man or even an intelligent man can usually tend to get on our nerves. Today I’ve compiled a rather small list [but equipped with videos as well as images] of some of the biggest chit-chat-kats in the movie galaxy that are worthy of your note. As usual, please let me know who I’ve missed. I like my mind stimulated as much as yours.
UGO does a good job in compiling lists and can be compared to Cracked.com. Which is a humungous compliment to them. They’ve listed a couple of movies of where kid’s movies have adult innuendos. Not all kids movies are strictly for kids. There are a couple of jokes that simply fly over their heads and the parents and baby sitters put their hands over their mouths and giggles. Here’s the link.
The Black Circus Series is a fictional carnival imagined by me that hosts a number of exiles, freaks, and undesirables. Old Ben, the manager of this traveling circus is responsible for providing a home to this varied collection of individuals. When Old Ben dies in a mysterious accident, his estranged grandson, Benjamin Jr., is brought in to settle his affairs. There he meets the colorful group of people that accompanied Old Ben in his final hours while he tries to solve the mystery of the one who is responsible for his grandfather’s death.

Vulture put together a very satirical and hilarious series of infographics. Very minimalist, which means it’s straight and to the point, but it does so in an artistic manner. Regardless of the art-type the content is very worthy of your attention. Plus I had to pull yesterday’s post regarding Angelina Jolie pulling a Basic Instinct for the Community Trailer and I’m shoving it here.
Horrifying I know.
But here’s the rest of the infographics. There are even more below.
