A great part of the video game experience is a multiplayer component. A lot of the games I’m playing these days all have cooperative or competitive aspects that let me play with or against players all around the world or with my friends on my couch. Here’s a list of games I’m playing and the experiences I’m having with it.
Little Big Planet 2
The ‘Mario’ for Sony’s Playstation 3, Sackboy and his adorableness have the same appeal as Mario, with it’s jumping and platforming. I heard the fantastic replay value and creative tools in this game, so I had to pick this game up. The relatively simple but addictive gameplay allowed my sister and I to play this game together. We’re able to grapple, grab, jump, and pop bubbles. I’ve had yet to play with the online component and play with maps that were created by other characters.
Borderlands
The classic shoot and loot gameplay makes this game one of the more addictive out there. With each enemy dropping new guns and gun boxes at every corner, there’s always a reason to go to the next enemy base. The story isn’t as fun, but playing with a good buddy makes it all better when the havoc is let loose.
Borderlands 2 comes in September…MIDNIGHT RELEASE BABY.
Portal 2
Portal is a witty and mind challenging game. The levels are hard enough for immense satisfaction in completion and not too hard for me to give up completely. So when the second one came out, the game was just as witty and the difficulty and satisfaction rose. The cooperative component made it even more challenging as it was fun bouncing ideas off my friend’s head.
Mass Effect 3
Mass Effect 3 multiplayer runs are the absolute best. This is by far my favorite game to play on multiplayer. The challenge and team work required to complete the missions are immensely satisfying. The payoff to buy ‘booster packs’ complete the addictive aspect. The skill required to hold your own measures your progress. If there was a way to combine all of games above to make an awesome game: it would be Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer.
