As many of you know, we here at Banana Scoop try to post four times a day five days a week and then four posts total on the two-day weekend.  That’s nearly 24 posts a week.  We usually don’t take holidays and we’re fairly consistent with how many times we post.  But as many of you must realize this takes time.  “But it’s your job,” some might say.  This is NOT my job.  I’m a chemical engineering student at a demanding top engineering school and writing a blog about pop culture is not considered a smart use of time when there are tests, quizzes, and optional homework that needs to be done.  This blog is my hobby.  My temporary escape from a rather creatively stifling school.  But that’s another story for another time.

I once recorded the time it takes to prepare a week’s worth of material for Banana Scoop.  It may take anywhere from 8 to 10 hours a week.  That’s a lot of time for something you’re neither paid for nor graded for.  I still manage to have somewhat of a social life, have time for my 30 hour a week job, and of course to do other things I enjoy like reading or blowing off some steam playing video games.

I’m dedicating today’s post to how life works for me and Banana Scoop.  While we do have one other contributor here, my inability to pay him forces me to carry about 85-90%+ of the workload of maintaining the aesthetics and punctual aspect of this blog.  I have a very long system that originates from daydreaming into a castle to cramming minutes before my deadline.  Read below on how I organize my life to run the very gratifying website that is Banana Scoop.

I’ve soon learned that Weekend Funnies are a temporary vacation from you real life, as you get stuck in a world where life doesn’t suck so much.  A world where anonymity is power that allows you to be racist, sexist, judgmental, or all of the above for a few quick minutes and then you can return to whoever you were before.  So take this time and enjoy these 24 images are your escape from your likely hellish life.  And if your offended with one image, always remember that if EVERYONE finds it funny, it probably truly isn’t.

It’s probably more poor planning that it is the excuse I’m going to give.  But I wasn’t able to finish this week’s comic primarily because my Bamboo Tablet is on the fritz and when the tablet is on the fritz, then no new comics can be made.  I’m sorry for the inconvenience.  Sure I tried to do it the night before, and simply giving up is a lot worse than trying to at least troubleshoot it, but I said, what the heck, readers can stand one break.

As a poorly kept promise, I’ll try to come up with two comics next week or release this week’s would be comic to be this Sunday’s Sketch.  Thanks for hanging together with us.

Very similar to yesterday’s post regarding Mike O’Brien getting famous celebrities to do crazy things in his closet, Zach ‘Alan’ Galifianakis gets famous A-listers to sit down in his garage to talk for a bit.  According to Galifianakis himself, he apparently calls up celebs and asks them to leave their lawyers and guards behind him and sit down with him in a garage to do a short interview.  What happens is that Galifianakis himself becomes a disgusting and awkward host to the unsuspecting celebs which forces them into gleefully uncomfortable situations. Some actors maintain their game face and play along while others get completely upset and storm off.  It’s all staged of course, but that doesn’t take away how awesome both this host and the interviewees are.  I always believed Sean Penn to have a major stick up his ass, but after he did this, I kinda like him a lot better now…even if he did the interview with that persona, you have to admit that agreeing to do this was completely unlike his character.  Check out my favorites below!

This is a really colorful image that pitches Aang, the master of the four elements [as stated in the popular Nickelodeon series Avatar: the Last Airbender] against the master of the periodic table of elements, Dmitri Mendeleev. It’s quite hilarious in the way when science and popular culture clashes. In truth, only nerds, engineers, and geeks will truly understand this. And since I fall under all three of those categories, this tickles me greatly.

A couple of days ago, I posted a routine 11:00 EST article regarding the Spring TV Wrap Up Ceremony.  Little did I know, I would get freshly pressed which is every bloggers wet dream because it allows us to live out the dream of people actually giving a sh!t about what we’re talking about.  Naturally, a massive influx of commenters arrived ranging in variety and domain names.  Today, I’m going to take a break from the norm of talking about movies, television or video games, and kinda go meta here.  Obviously there must be some sort of motivation that forces a user to take the time to comment on an article.  Replies range from single sentences to well written anecdotes.  Each have their own sense of opinion and style and I found rather humorous.  This article is designed to make fun of user cliches and norms.  I’m sorry if you get caught in the crossfire, but remember I’m making fun of the social norm and not you.  But when it comes to blogging, all press is good press.  Wordpress.  [LOL]
