Last week, it sort of felt as though I bashed being a movie buff in preference for being a television buff with so many television related posts.   I can feel sometimes that I relay the imbalance of movies and television and I have to remind myself that I still need to write about movies every once in a while.  I haven’t really been to a movie theater as of late and all the movies I’ve been watching are either old or terrible, neither of which warrants a full blow review.  And I tire of lists that hold little relevance.  So I kind of went into the mind process of when I wrote about my ‘television ratio’ and ‘reasons to watch television’.  Today I write to defend the movie buff honor and claim how pride I am to being one. Below I’ve compiled a list of 5 reasons or better yet, perks to being a movie buff.  Read below.

The 25 Best Sitcom Couples

[Update: replaced the video player with a youtube video so hopefully it has stopped being stupid.  Please let me know if there are still problems.]

It has come to my attention that if you’re currently following me under via the wordpress blog roll, you might be getting continuous updates with my most recent blog post regarding Community.  I think it has to do with the unnatural video player that I used.  Wordpress isn’t kind to video players that aren’t Youtube, so I tried to get creative with it.  Unfortunately this doesn’t look like it worked.  I’m currently trying to remedy the situation and I’m sorry my posts are blowing up your news feeds.  Please bear with me and don’t unsubscribe.  I’m aware and trying to fix the problem.

Thanks for hanging tight.

I had a post regarding the amount of leg Angelina Jolie was showing at the Oscars a couple of weeks ago, but I’ve successfully moved that tomorrow with the post regarding the Best Pictures as infographics.  They hardly fit well together, but this is waaaaay more important than any Oscar related news. E!’s The Soup, hosted by Joel McHale plans to shows this swag as hell trailer regarding Community’s awesome return.

I got goosebumps. I got chills. I may have cried. Evil Abed returns. Dreamatorium. My god, the best thing to happen to television returns and it looks as GODLY as ever.

[Update] Hopefully the continual playing stops as does the continual updating.  I’m sorry for the inconvenience.  Please let me know if a situation still arises.

I have two cousins around the age of 9 and 4.  When they come visit me [or I come visit them from college], I, my parents, and my uncle and aunt have found television a great way to pacify them.  As cruel and demeaning to them as it sounds, I’m sure my parent readers know what it’s like to require some peace and quiet.  But when I don’t feel old enough to talk to my parents and uncles and aunts [although I’m 20, so I feel as though I should], more than often, I sit with them to see what’s still running on good old Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network these days.  Truth be told, I’m pretty disgusted in what flies as acceptable for cartoon shows these days.  Things like this Gumball show or Chowder, what have you.  I don’t identify with any of it.  But I’m probably as disgusted as my parents were when I turned on shows like Spongebob and Fairly Odd Parents in the 2000s, and even shows like Doug and Rockos Modern Life in the 90s.  Regardless, despite the childish aspect of some of these cartoon shows, there are a couple of respectable cartoon shows that, while catered to children, also capture my interest due to themes only adults would get and character/story development that goes far beyond the minds of the targeted demographic.  Below I’ve compiled 5 cartoon shows that are catered to mostly children and my explanations as to why a 20 year old like myself would totally still watch it.

I’m a guy and I can totally relate to this list.  As soon as I saw Malcolm Reynolds at number 25, I knew this list would be A-okay.  If you’re a gal who simply loves the lovable, hunky, brave, what-have-you men that fill up the silver screen, this is a list that’s totally for you.  Empire Online has compiled what they believed the 25 sexiest movie/tv personalities were and they even put a little ‘do you agree or disagree’ poll for each one.  Be sure to check it out

It’s no surprise that many movies have tried to copy the repeating success of a film franchise.  No one movie alone can beat the strength of a franchise in terms of box office.  Everyone beginning film wants to be the next Star Wars, Harry Potter, or Lord of the Rings.  But where these franchises have succeeded, about 3-5 have failed.  Below you’ll find The Golden Compass, Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events, and Eragon.  While not all these films are bad [Mystery Men is in there, and I absolutely loved that movie], either their box office or uncommitted stars stopped these films from become sequels or even more.

20 Failed Franchise Formations

Oscars week part 2.  Some dudes actually compiled most/all of the swear words from all the best pictures.  How on Earth does one sit through and pay attention to do all this. Kudos to them, I hope all the hard work paid off.

Blessed be HBO for giving Ricky Gervais’s comedies a shot here in America.  The show that made him famous, Extras, was given this blessing, and now his current show, Life’s Too Short, has also been given this blessing.  Despite one being over 5 years old and the other in the middle of its American release, I’ve been given and taken the opportunity to watch both of these shows in their entirity, and can say despite his relatively negative stereotype here in America, Gervais has had a rather large influence in comedy today and can still deliver a comedic punch in true dry, British humor fashion.  Hear about my adventures into these two BBC telecasts below.

Absurd things like the rappelling scene in Mission Impossible are like the dreams of a fantasia screen writer.  However, these 6 scenes were inspired by events that actually happened.  Check out this other Cracked article that compiled this awesome list.

6 Absurd Movie Scenes that Actually Happened

This week’s 3:00 EST quips will honor the remains of the Oscar hangover.  It know it’s been like 2 weeks, but in case you missed any bit, this will week will bring you the best the internet had to offer of Oscar related things.  Today’s post is probably the most memorable moment of the night.  Sasha Baren Cohen’s Dictator scuffing up the pretty pompous face of Ryan Seacrest is quite the sight to see.

I’ve given winter/spring television a good month or two to settle in with what it has to offer.  In this case, that means the returns of several 22-24 episode runs like Parks and Recreation and Happy Endings.  Obviously some shows have gone, like It’s Always Sunny and Dexter, but there definitely worthy replacements like Archer and Justified.  And there’s an always welcome newcomer or two like NBC’s Awake.  New or old, that means judgement must be laid upon all of these and I’m just the man to do it.  Read below for what I’m watching this season and my opinions on the directions they’re going in.  Also read below to see what television shows have dug themselves into my television grave.

The Black Circus

The Black Circus Series is a fictional carnival imagined by me that hosts a number of exiles, freaks, and undesirables. Old Ben, the manager of this traveling circus is responsible for providing a home to this varied collection of individuals. When Old Ben dies in a mysterious accident, his estranged grandson, Benjamin Jr., is brought in to settle his affairs. There he meets the colorful group of people that accompanied Old Ben in his final hours while he tries to solve the mystery of the one who is responsible for his grandfather’s death.

Bethesda the Clown

Name:
Arthur White

Alias:
Bethesda the Clown

History:
A smile never leaves Bethesda’s face. Long before he donned the clown outfit and the name Bethesda the Clown, his name was Arthur White and was always found with a smile on his face due to a genetic disorder. Talented with a dagger, he spent majority of his boyhood in the woods hunting and skinning animals. After witnessing his parents’ murder, the police sent him to an asylum after deeming him responsible on the basis he was found at the crime scene, knee deep in their blood with a smile and tears on his face. Unjust incarceration, cruel isolation, and unethical experimentation led him to mistrust people in their entirety. The only friend he had was a small boy by the name of Bethesda in the cell adjacent to them. One day Bethesda didn’t return to his cell and White went berserk. Rumor has it he left 20+ dead and no survivors, and found Bethesda in a morgue with a dozen more children. After this series of events, White wandered forever scarred emotionally and physically with a distrust in everyone. The day he stumbled into Ben’s Black Circus would change him forever.

Role:
White joined the Crazy Eights and found the entertaining of children to be most rewarding, despite his frightening appearance. He has been with the circus for six years and has since then risen through the ranks to be Ganger’s second in command of the Crazy Eights. His dagger skills have grown exceptionally, being able to nail a target over 30 feet with pinpoint accuracy.

Personality:
Often mute unless in an act or addressed by someone.
Anger issues that lead to violent outbursts.
Has consistent migraines.
Can often be found killing chickens and other small game in his free time
Carries a large bag with a red stain on it and is very protective of it.

Relationships:
Taran the Psychic – one of the few people he willingly talks to. Content unknown.
Ganger – His boss
Crazy Eights – Underlings that fear him more than Ganger

Quote Excerpt
’A rare skin disorder’, the doctor said. ‘A small prick in the skin and it’s all done,’ the psychiatrist said. ‘He’ll be back in a few minutes,’ the orderly said. I looked at all of them, they smiled at me and I smiled back. They all lied to me and all I could do was smile. I couldn’t take my smile away…so I took away theirs.

***Maintenance Note:

I hope you all welcome me back with open arms.  This Sunday Sketch kicks off an uninterrupted month of pure posting.  If you haven’t noticed, we have a new gradiented background, new menu icons, and a fresh selection of editor favorites in the side tool bar.  We’re at 100% people, and I’m really excited to share some awesome stuff with you.  I appreciate all the visitors who have visiting me, even in the down time.  Haven’t hit a day with less than 100 views a day yet….Hoping to double that withing the next month!  Anywho, the final touches remaining is the banner.  I’ve supplemented an old banner, to randomize with change.  Click refresh a couple of times to view it.  But other than that, I don’t have any new banners [I’ve been too busy drawing this crazy clown].  Regardless, the banner is in the queue.  And with only one midterm this week, as soon as I’m done with that, my energy jumps right back into Banana Feed.  Thanks for your support guys.

Maintanence Report

The maintenance and preparation for the next month is going well.  Above is an image of a calender with the plans of what I will be posting over the next month.  Just because you can barely make out my chicken scratch for certain topics, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be visiting my very productive month of March for awesome articles, images, lists, and videos.  It’s all very promising and I can’t wait to share it all with you.

On a greater note, a blog roll, called paperblog has anointed me for ‘blog of the day’ on their website for my ‘posts and their excellent, quality content’.  A weird time to decorate me as I’m break, but I’m glad someone out there appreciates the work I put into this blog.

Anywho, just a little update to you hungry fans out there.  In addition to the reboot on March 4th, new side bar images will be posted and a new banner should stand in where the old one once was.  Look forward to it all and I appreciate your support.  Can’t wait to get back onto the saddle.

It’s all caught up to me.  I simply don’t have the  time and energy to be able to keep up with daily posts this week, so I’m taking a holiday to recuperate and simply knock out a months worth of articles, images, lists, etc. in advance.  Oscars are today and I won’t be able to cover them, but thankfully all movie blogs are cliche, so if I’m not covering them, I’m sure some other bloke is.

I apologize for the inconvienence to most, as I do love entertaining you guys, and I hope you guys find me entertaining.  I swear I’ll make it up to you when I get back. I’m just surprised I made it this far into the year without taking one of these breaks.  But seeing as blog writing doesn’t pay the bills [neither does my education yet, but at least that one is more promising], I do have to take things into priority.

I’ll see you all on the other side.

Weekend Comics: 2/25/2012

I tried to vary it up.  I stuck away from leecher sites like 9gag and funny junk.  Power to the original creators, not leecher sites that get paid over the creativity of others.  Off the soap box.  Enjoy this weekend’s 27 images.

Adam Withers got a commission [got paid to visualize an idea] to draw this collection of cartoon intellects.  When I originally saw this image, I could only identify about half, Velma, Dexter, Edd, and Nigel Uno.  When I visited his deviantart page, I soon realized that Jimmy Neutron is stud in the leather biker jacket.  The other two are apparently from TV shows called Daria and Johnny Test which I think we’re a little after my time.  Regardless, this is a genius collection of  cartoon intellects that with they’re combined knowledge, they could create world peace…or the means to destroy it.
