Maintenance Alert! Time to learn what the scoop is on Banana Scoop. It’s a relatively light week this week. This newsletter primarily talks about school coming soon and how things will change in response to that. Read on below for all the latest news with us.
School Incoming Means Less Banana Scoop
Truth be told, I’m both excited and distraught that school is starting soon. I get to move back out of my parent’s house, live autonomously for a year, be in the company of other intellectuals, watch a ton of movies and television, party every once in a while, etc.. But there’s one drawback…it’s fcking school. Studying, studying, studying is the other end of the spectrum. Huffington Post just recently labeled Georgia Tech as the 24th best University in the World and while I’m definitely proud of that, it entails how competitive the school must be to keep that ranking.
So when all the studying comes around, I’ll likely have less time to do Banana Scoop which means there will be a break or two every couple of months during the hard test weeks. I’ll do my best to stay on top of things, but you know how things catch up. I do have a solution or two in mind…which brings me to my next point.
Bringing In New Contributors Might Reduce to Load
Less breaks would occur if I had more people contributing. I’m going to try and get into talks with several people who would be interested in writing for us and taking off some of the burden on me. With SoGoCJE, he does 3/24 a week, which I can’t ask anymore of him given I don’t pay him and he’s here by volunteer (which is greatly appreciated). If I can pick up one or two more guys [or gals] who can have a similar load, then we’ll be in good enough shape to possibly not have any breaks and maybe even up our daily posts from 4 to 5.
A New Poll is Up! Go and Vote
If you’re reading this, then you must be using a computer, go to the right and participate in the new poll regarding which operating system you’re using. I was hesitant on including an ‘other’ besides the big three [or truly big two], but apparently someone was vocal enough to choose ‘other’. Please guy who wrote other, I’d like to know what operating system you’re using. And if you’re also feeling vocal, make your way to the Live Discussion Page and tell me off about why me using a Mac means I’m a dum-dum.
The Weekly Calendar is Falling Behind, I Know
The page Weekly Calendar isn’t necessarily doing what I was hoping it would be. It simply takes too much time updating that thing every week, linking, replacing, and describing. If only we were a legitimate business, I’d get an intern to do all that nonsense for me. And with school around the corner, I betcha it’ll stay that way for a long time. So until I come up with a better method or a better way to replace that page, I’ll keep the updated 7.15.2012 calendar there.
The About Me Section is still on My To-Do List
It’s been “Under Construction” for a long time and I’m afraid it’ll have to be a while longer. I simply haven’t had the time to draw a new button or make a new page/post for the About Us. I don’t think it’s important to create an entirely new page for a paragraph or two about our missions statement, so I’ll likely schedule the page for a post as our very first article and then link it through the button I’ll create. It’s not so much a big deal to ya’ll, but if anyone is interested in getting into contact with us, I’d like to leave a page where they can comment and get our email.
Illustrator is My Newfound Love and Universidaze
As you saw in Baelor, my familiarization with Illustrator is coming along well. I’ve learned a lot about vector based art and can [and will] write an entire article on the fundamental differences between Illustrator and Photoshop. I’m still trying to figure out if Photoshop or Illustrator is a better medium for Universidaze and it’ll take a couple of weeks for me to get it settled. So expect a back and forth for a while and when I’ve decided on a format, I’ll let you know.
