Two more episodes until the ‘season’ finale of Breaking Bad. I’m assuming this most recent episode is the final set up before the explosive finale. There are a lot of loose ends to knot up before we get there, and hopefully most of them are finished up before we have to wait an entire year before we see the resolution. This episode is primarily a quick wrap up of what happened last as what most episodes are, but this we learn a couple of interesting new things that make us guess twice about end game each character is aiming at. Enough vagueness, read below for the spoiler filled summary and review of the episode.

The Boy in the Desert
Obviously the gang had to deal with Todd, the motherf**cker who shot the kid in the desert. Jessie brings up good points as to why he’s a douchebag, but Walt and Mike calmly realize that they can’t just rub the guy out of the business. There are moments of redemption when both Jessie and Mike take a physical stab at Todd, while we get an interesting look at when he enters the car and reflects on the tarantula in the jar. He has a major part left in this game and I hope he gets his head shot off. Seriously, I hate that guy.
Mike Sends a Message
Meanwhile Hank and the DEA are following up their pursuit/stalking of Mike. Of course, suave Mike is always 3 steps ahead of them and even enjoys messing around with them, as seen above. Mike eventually brings in Saul to hold them off for a little while so he can do some business. Mike overall is tired of all this and wants to be out and when he brings it to his team, he gets some problems.
Jessie’s Mind is Wrecked
Jessie, the one salvageable conscious character left in this series is not dealing well with the death of the kid. And when the news is going to investigate his disappearance, he loses it. When Walt gives him off, he begins to react to a whistling that Walt does. Someone please explain this to me or maybe we don’t know the significance. Regardless, I’m hoping for Jessie to turn out all right in this series…but I feel as though it ain’t gonna happen. But it seems as though all of this stress is making Jessie want out of the business.
A Buyout
The title of this episode is called Buyout. This refers to the part where Mike has a buyer for all the methylamine they lifted. As stated above, Mike and Jessie want out but Walt doesn’t want to hear any of it. Mike says they should split the thousand gallons 3-ways for 15 million total. and The buyers are from another district and are willing to pay 15 million for the 1000 gallons, but for the 1000 gallons only with the intention of the blue meth leaving the market. With Walter holding out, Jessie wants to convince him other wise. Which leads to the best thing ever: Dinner at the White Household
Awkward Dinners Rule and so Does Jessie
Jessie visits the Walt household for the first time in a long time. We get some awesome dialogue and back and forth between Jessie and Walt, with Jessie questioning Walt’s endgame and Walt explaining his reasoning. Walt compares this buyout to a similar buyout he did when he was younger about how he wasted his potential. He sees this next buyout as another waste of potential as Jessie tries to convince him to take the $5 million dollar buyout as it’ll be as rich as he’s ever been in terms of money. Walt rigidly declines and claims that he isn’t doing this for just selling meth and making money, but to make an entire empire. This conversation is cut short and gets awkward when Skylar arrives home. Jessie gets forced to stay for dinner and things get even more awkward.
Jessie has some of the best dialogue during dinner. He tries to keep things casual, but the sheer hate between Walt and Skyler during this dinner is seething and difficult to watch. But it’s so delicious, like when Skyler asked Jessie if Walt told him about her affair. Then when Skyler leaves the table [with a humungous glass of wine], Walt confides in Jessie about how she’s waiting for him to die and that his meth empire is all he has left. Which leads him to take ‘what is his’ by going to steal the entire 1000 gallons for his empire.
Walt Gets Held Hostage
Mike is excellent at planning ahead and captures Walt during his attempted theft of the 1000 gallons. Mike watches over Walt until the transaction is made, but had to leave Walt because he had to attend with the police on something. He restrains Walt and leaves and of course Walt gets out with the knowledge of science. He quickly proceeds to make off with the 1000 gallons.
Everyone Wins
Mike is pissed when he returns and as soon as he finds Walt, he puts a gun to his head, ready to pull the trigger. Jessie tries to calm him when he tells Mike that Walt has a plan to sell off the promised amount of Methylamine and cook it simultaneously, allowing Mike and Jessie to make their money and walk away as promised. Mike deeply considers shooting him anyways, but he calmly asks if what Walt is saying is true. Walt, who has had a number of times had a gun held to his head even calmer replies, “everyone wins”. A spine chilling moment and even crazier that the credits show before hearing the plan.
Conclusion
Another set up episode in my opinion to an exciting heist-type episode that will likely be in next two episode as the very next one is called, “Everyone Wins”. I’m very excited to hear what Walt’s plan is. How will he cook all 1000 gallons and deliver the promised 1000 gallons? How will the rival business react to the resurgence of “Gus’s blue”? What the f**k is Todd up to? How will Marie and Skyler reconcile? Is Hank good enough to catch Walt? All these will hopefully be found out by the end of the alleged season. I’m still waiting for some major characters to die, I can forsee Mike and maybe Marie dying. Marie would make Hank go out of control and I could see Hank tying Marie’s death to the resurgence of Walt’s business, further driving him to catch the head hancho. The season finale is coming close and I can’t wait. Join us next week for my review of Everybody Wins. See ya there.
