Dany Witnesses a Political Coup**
Ugh, this plot line is going no where. One of the 13 had it right, Dragons the size of cats do nothing. Dany’s arc has done nothing. I wish she would go into the House of the Undying in this episode, yet we saw something else. The warlock and the Xaro guy seemed to have teamed up to take over Qarth. Even as a viewer AND reader, I didn’t really give a rats ass about this extremely unnecessary and unethical seizure, as I was more focused on where the heck are those dragons and why they haven’t done anything. I’d like to think that 90% of the internet is with me. The stabbed disappearing warlock was a nice touch though.
Jaime Lannister Doesn’t Give a Fck
Everything that was excellent about this episode occurred because of this man right here. He stole the show last night with his extended scenes and heavy dialogue. I like to think beforehand that his character was nothing more than a incestous snobby pretty guy, but his heavy character development in this episode really drove home what I’ve learned about him from reading the books. We’re given a pretty decent look into his approach to life and why the way he is. We’re shown his tenacity to live by killing his own distant cousin for a chance to escape. We’re shown his fearlessness of death when he’s almost killed by soldiers and shrugs it off with a joke. We’re finally given his sense of philosophy as he points out the hypocrisy in all men. His monologue on rules and vows and how one can hardly do anything without breaking a vow with his example on, “respect thy father, respect thy king, what do you do when your father despises the king”, etc. This moment really showed me that there is more to this man than just what we’ve seen so far, and having read the books, I know I’m not wrong [lol]. And of course, his japes and jests about Brienne and her size and sexuality were also a delight to hear. It’s too bad that Catelyn Stark pulled a sword on him….
Theon Greyjoy is the Series New Child Killer
Well Theon’s a tool. An absolute incompetent fool who’s unassurance you can hear in his voice with every ridiculous and stupid step he takes. As he tries to hold Winterfell, the departure of the two young princes infuriates him. He tries to locate them, but is unable to until one of his men gets an idea that has to do with some old burnt things he found in the hay. Now I’m not sure the viewers are supposed to know what it was exactly as the books were vague about it too, but the point is clearly seen the last frame we’re given. The bodies of two charcoal black children were raised at the walls of Winterfell for the eyes of its residents to behold. It’s official ladies and gentlemen, Theon is a child murder and it appears we just lost another two major characters to the story.
